We killed some peons and made our way to the breath room where we ran into the yellow dragon guard... that’s new? I tried to talk my way out of fighting but the worm was adamant.

Phase 1, I had a second before he turned hostile so Jan & Haer’dalis both laid ST while I started a ‘Time Stop’... looking at his opening buffs I seriously doubt the traps would have worked but retreat wasn’t an option.

Phase 2, Alyssia & Do’Dad charge whilst Imoen/ Jan stay ranged... I’m only really after the time to cast without interruption.

Phase 3, ‘Improved Alacrity’ basically followed by the rest of my spell book finished this fight in black and white.

Posted Image  Posted Image  Posted Image

After I collect my breath & the dragon hide I had to fight pass some daemons to get outside... that’s new as well.

The dragon surrendered and gave me a nice charm for Alyssia but unfortunately Jan had turnip juice in his ears... this was the proverbial straw as far as Jan goes so welcome aboard Mazzy!

I’m presently parked back in Amkethran working off my screams on a room full of slimes... no way I’m cleaning this mess up.

Bugs/ issues:

For reasons best known to themselves SCS has altered the plot and placed the monks-rope somewhere in Amkethran... none of the shops appear to have it and without that rope my game ends here.
HELP!

Udm7;
Just a short one to say I’m now at 2 Reloads... I had to SK a rope so the adventure could continue.

Not that type of girl:

Posted Image  Posted Image  Posted Image

When I got back to Abazigal's Lair, two black dragons tried to play sloppy Ormaline with me but nine ‘Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting’ fired from 3 ‘Chain Contingency’ rubbed off most of their cravings.  I started limping back to the map edge when yet another two literally dropped from the sky *... this stressed my limits (mostly due to the bugs) and at different points both Imoen & Alyssia left their chest prints in the sand but fortunately I had recharged both my “Rod of Resurrection” before this battle so when the last big red started monologuing I just hightailed it back to Amkethran.

Posted Image  Posted Image  Posted Image

Two days later I explained to Mr Red just why it’s a bad idea to waylay sweet elven lassies with the magic ability to ‘Time Stop’/ ‘Improved Alacrity’ but I’m not sure I still want to visit Abazigal now... what’s next?

Bugs/ issues:

* I couldn’t summon my deva/ planetar up top because the game engine insists that I have one in play (The Dragons?) & the buggy scène scripting makes me move away from my ST traps.  The only hint I got for finding the mysterious missing rope is “go back to town” because “talk to the one armed man at the inn” would be too hard of an entry to script into my journal... so my overall impression of ~SCSII.TP2~Improved Abazigal's Lair: v20 is inadequate.

The continuing adventures of Goodguy (level 12 cleric/level 12 illusionist controlled by Corey_Russell) and Badgirl (level 12 fighter/level 14 thief controlled by Dogdancing)...
Areas Battled: Bridge District, Planar Sphere

When we last heard from the duo, they had just taken out the lich in the bridge district. Next up was Captain Dennis...Goodguy wasn't sure what was the best method against him. His melee is considerable, and he didn't want to get Badgirl killed again.

So instead, Goodguy went into the Delosar Inn and cast Death Fog right in the center of the room. He then tried sanctuary but he was dieing too fast, so instead did a invisibility potion. Goodguy then proceeded past the enemies into the hallway, and went into a corner, out of sight, while the death fog was hurting the enemies. Badgirl waited outside, in case any enemy's morale broke and tried to run. The death fog did great damage and managed to kill 3 of the enemies (the casters). Next, Goodguy did web, greater malison and 2x cloudkill. This finished off all the enemies!

We peeked at Neb's place, but he wasn't there. We need to get the Sir Sarles quest, it seems. So we did all the tasks for the temple and eventually Sir Sarles was happy...I thought we had given him the fake illithium though, and also thought I had put the real one at our base...hmmm, did I accidentally give our illithium away? Oops...

We also did the planar sphere. Maximum buffs then entered it. The plan was Goodguy would deal with the nearby mage, and Badgirl would work on everyone else. This worked pretty well, except Goodguy got stunned. However, not too bad, as all the enemies were working on Badgirl, and the mage still had to work through all of Goodguy's protections.

Both party members now have haste boots. (We got one earlier from picking the wrong bag of holding via SK - it actually had stuff in it). We easily defeated the small group of thralls to the right. For some bizarre reason, there was almost no one past the Githyanki portal? Just two thralls, pretty easily defeated.

Next, Goodguy did the best summons he could, hasted the party and then attacked. They party killed the demon and his air elemental pets. While the haste was still active, the party moved back down to destroy the orb and free the thralls.

Next, time for the warden. Goodguy was using MMM, but some buff was returning the MMM back to Goodguy - ouch! However, with Badgirl's sling and the 4 summons charging the warden, the warden fell pretty fast. Quest complete...

Long time ago, the party battled Lassal at the docks - they finally reported to Linvail the result of that. We needed to take down a couple of shadow thief traitors next. So we headed to the bridge district once more - Dogdancing was hurting physically, so we intended to quit as soon as someone leveled. Just before we got to the Five Flagons, we encountered the worst vampire ambush (4), as well as a mugger ambush!

Badgirl concentrated on the vampires, while Goodguy summoned as much help as he could. At one point, Badgirl got level drained to level 3 fighter. Goodguy ordered Badgirl to run, while he attacked the vampire after her with range and got more help. Eventually the vampire lost interest in Badgirl. Badgirl tried to range attack, but it said weapon ineffective. Same for Goodguy, so Goodguy approached with his FoA and whacked it dead.

When Goodguy restored Badgirl's levels, it turned out she gained level 12 fighter from this fight. The duo decided to call it a night.

Badgirl deaths: too many to mention
Party coffers: about 90,000 gold
Reloads: 3 (Umar Temple Shadow Fiend, 2x Guarded Compound)

The continuing adventures of Goodguy (level 12 cleric/level 12 illusionist controlled by Corey_Russell) and Badgirl (level 12 fighter/level 14 thief) - update
Areas Battled: Bodhi's Lair

Well just to confirm, we did in fact give the REAL illuthium to Sir Sarles - the alloy is in our "base" - Doh! We tried to pick-pocket it back, but he didn't have it on it. I vaguely recall others trying to get it back and failing, but we had to try. While we had the thieving potions active, we pick-pocketed Tolgerias for his ring of ram and also turned in Neb's head.

We decided to do the main story line. First, we went to the Five Flagons and laid down some snares in the hallway. Then we battled the two shadow thief traitors and their contact - victory. We rested once more and headed for the graveyard district.

We had to battle some spiders, so Goodguy did a few animate dead for some extra muscle, which was used in the vampire lair too. Initially, we did everything the first level except Tanova. We picked up a protection from undead from one of the warders, so Badgirl used that for much of the lair so she wouldn't get level drained. Goodguy had to do the dialogue, though as the undead wouldn't talk to her. Once we picked up the mace of disruption, Badgirl used that for the rest of the lair.

For the ambush downstairs, we had a Genie and a ariel servant helping us. Goodguy did turn undead, and Badgirl used a haste potion to speed up the kill of the warders then the vampires.

Next up, Tanova. We sent massive # of summons at her (about 7). Once out of summons, the duo charged and killed Tanova. We also killed Lassal, who got killed by the mace of disruption death effect. Badgirl got levele drained, so Goodguy restored her. This made Goodguy tired, so they rested in the vampire crypt room. This allowed them laying down 6 normal snares. Goodguy summoned two Ariel Servants and they started the fight.

Despite Bodhi absorbing 6 snares and being whacked by Ariel Servants and being near death, Bodhi drained Badgirl down to level 4 fighter/level 6 thief. Goodguy told Badgirl to run (which was silly, should have had Badgirl use her ring of ram) while he whacked Bodhi with his Flail of the Ages. I think an Ariel Servant got the blow which made Bodhi run for her life...

It was getting real late here (11:30 PM), so the duo ended the session here.

Party Coffers: about 100,000 gold
Badgirl deaths: too many to mention
Reloads: 6 (Umar Temple Shadow Fiend, 2x Guardend Compound, 3x shadow dragon)
(I had forgotten that we had taken a stab at the shadow dragon much earlier -- after like 3 horrible deaths, we reloaded and ignored him...)

Another update for Goodguy (level 12 cleric/level 12 illusionist controlled by Corey_Russell) and Badgirl (level 12 fighter/level 14 thief controlled by Dogdancing)...
Area: Shadow Dragon Lair

The duo had just taken down Bodhi. They both felt a rematch with Thaxxy was in order. So, they headed to Umar Hills, rested and then made it to the dragon's lair. We did have the wardstone.

Badgirl laid down 3 normal snares around Thaxxy. Goodguy first summoned some skeletons so that they would get killed by Thaxxy's scripted death spell. Then he summoned his real help, 2x ariel servants, fire elemental, and sword spider. Goodguy did a few buffs to protect himself, and just two party buffs, group haste and resist fear.

The summons attacked Thaxxy, while Goodguy did MMM for most of the fight, and a breach mid-fight. He also did his WK golem summon, but it didn't matter as Badgirl slew Thaxxy with her sunstone bullet.

We wanted to play more, but our daughter wanted her computer (Badgirl was on our daughter's laptop since our son was on Badgirl's desktop). So we made the shadow dragon armor, gave to Badgirl permanently, so she doesn't need to armor swap anymore except possibly very special situations, and sold the little junk we had.

Party gold: 105,000
reloads 6: (Shadow Fiend in Umar Temple, 2x guarden compound and 3x Shadow Dragon (Thaxxy))

Another update of Goodguy (level 13 cleric/level 13 illusionist controlled by Corey_Russell) and Badgirl (level 12 fighter/level 15 thief controlled by Dogdancing...
Area Battled: Unseeing Eye area

We are running out of chapter 2 things to do. We will have to go to Spellhold soon. Thanks to a our pick-pocket disaster at Ribald's, we don't have, nor will we ever have the shield of Balduran. Therefore, rather than try to complete this quest the long way, we attempted to do it the short way (attack Gaal). This will mean we can't do Kangaxx either, such is life I guess.

In any case, the duo battled to Gaal, told Gaal that removing one's eyes is an abomination and must be stopped, and commenced the fight. Goodguy had 5 skeletons with him, and they were a big help. I should have cast group haste on them, but oh well. Goodguy did slow and hold persons on the Unseeing Eye followers. Eventually the eye himself showed up. The eye loved targeting our skeletons, with spells the skeletons are mostly immune to. This allowed Badgirl to get some hits in with her sword of mask and Goodguy did magic missiles. At one point, it was clear that the Eye had protection from magic weapons up, so Goodguy did Breach. After that, Badgirl got some nice hits in and the Eye fell!

The results were a bit suprising - Badgirl got a thief level, and Goodguy got TWO levels at once! Took a while to put all his new spells in his new slots...We then looted the place blind and reported our success to the Church. The Church was happy and gave us yet more gold (don't know what we are going to do with all this gold, though it could come in handy in Ust Natha).

Since it was nighttime, we also recovered the dawn ring for the Church. This may be the easiest quest in the vanilla game, as the duo didn't bother with spells or abilities and did just straight melee.

Dogdancing was getting tired, so the duo stopped here to watch some Greatest American Hero before bed.

Party coffers: 110,000 gold
Reloads: 6 (shadow fiend in Umar Hills Temple, 2x Guarded Compound, 3x Shadow Dragon (Thaxxy))

The adventure continues of Goodguy (level 13 cleric/level 13 illusionist controlled by Corey_Russell) and Badgirl (level 13 fighter/level 15 thief controlled by Dogdancing)...
Area Battled: portions of Firkraag's Lair

Well, Firkraag's is the last chapter two thing we can do, so the duo heads to Firkraag's lair. Corey_Russell wanted to save the game before entering the lair (the game has crashed on him before in there), but Badgirl charged in, which also brought Goodguy in too! Goodguy wanted to buff and such too, but now no chance for that.

First thing Goodguy did was summon the flesh golem as a distraction. Then he cast silence to silence the pesky goblin casters. Mid-battle some Vampiric Mists joined the fray and level drained Badgirl (of course). After the battle Goodguy restored her, but now he is tired. Goodguy did a cloudkill on the goblins up and right in the cavern, this got rid of all but one, but a hold person finished the last one.

A fire elemental was summoned and sent towards the kobold suicide squads. After the sqads detonated themselves, the duo then moved up and slinged the Rakshashka. The duo used the fire elemental to finish the remaining enemies in the cavern, with the duo assisting.

Next the room with the 8 orcish archers. Badgirl opened the doors, while Goodguy assisted with a few spells and sling. Corey_Russell knew that normally the next hallway has golems, but none were to be found!? Hmmm...the duo battled a troll and his goblin lackeys. MMM finished most of them plus Badgirl's melee. The otuygh was taken down with Goodguy's +3 cleric staff out of melee range.

Next, the duo tried to rest in the room just before the golem hallway. The rest failed, and also a buch of shadow fiends appeared. Turn undead didn't appear to help. Badgirl was taking massive damage, severely depleting our heal potion supplies - we later determined she had her sling equippped, so the enemies were getting the +4 Thac0 bonus as well as the +4 damage. She had a lot of trouble with her weapons here, having the wrong one equipped. Finally the shadows are slain, we rest once more and finally successful. The golems finally appear too. Corey_Russell had given the martial staff to Badgirl, but she kept getting whacked by the Adamantite golem - Corey_Russell literally took over and showed her she can hit him from the hallway, as the golem can't get past the door. Finally the golem starts dying, albeit very slowly. Badgirl wanted to use the few +3 arrows we had, but Goodguy said no -- those are very limited supply in SoA, and it's unnecessary with use of the staffs.

Next up was the undead. Goodguy cast protection from Undead on Badgirl, the plan was for her to whack the enemies dead, being immune to the enemies. However, a very bizarre bug occurred - they could see her AND were level draining her! Yikes! Goodguy had to restore her levels 3 times during this fight, once via spell and twice via scroll. We ran out of restoration scrolls, need some more...

We had to rest again, got ambushed by some shadows..this time Dogdancing was impressed, Goodguy killed them all at once with his turn undead. Rest once more and success. We got into the vampire room again, and a bit further and there are more vampires! And of course, Badgirl gets level drained once more...we kill the vampires with some summon help. We rest once more and are finally ready to proceed...

Goodguy knows Samie's group is pretty tough. So he did a lot of good prep (or so he thought) - all of Badgirl's snares were laid to the room right of the vampire room, 5 summons, death ward on the duo, CC on Badgirl, resist fear and group haste and then Goodguy triggered the fight. What a disaster...Badgirl is dying fast, and running out potions (we think because her sling was equipped in melee combat again). Corey_Russell pauses and tells Badgirl to run to him, while he tries a RoR heal - which worked! Badgirl got to like 5% health...that was close.

The battlle is still raging, Goodguy starts summoning every summon in his arsenal, and keeps up the numbers as they get slain. Finally the enemy mage is out of caps, and starts to melee...and at last that signals the end of the fight, victory. Heal potion supply still very low though...Goodguy has to rest once more to refresh his spells, then the duo works on the dragon shield and sword quest.

Badgirl had 110% fire resistance and cleared the genies. Melee, plus ring of ram and few MM finished the Director. Badgirl was cought in the ice storm. Goodguy had the sense to move out of it right away, but then Badgirl closed the door on herself, taking more damage. Eventually gets herself out and Goodguy gets her healed up. One final genie left and he is slain. The mask is made and they slay the guardian. The shield was an immediate upgrade for Goodguy. The sword Badgirl will use against Firkraag.

Hasted summons plus the duo's slings made work of the nearby wolfweres and orogs. Another adamnite golem, finished by Goodguy's staff. More golems nearby in a rock area, finished off the same way as the previous ones. Since Badgirl keeps getting caught in the poison cloud, she waits it out instead.

A few summons also help the duo clear out the nearby werewolves. After looting the room with the horn of blasting, it was 10:30 PM, so Corey_Russell and Dogdancing decided to call it a night.

Party Coffers: still about 110,000 gold (haven't sold our junk yet)
Reloads: 6 (shadow fiend Umar Temple, 2x Guarded Compound, 3x shadow dragon (Thaxxy))

Udm8, Rest in smithereens;

My standard tactic here is to kill the man and spike the dragon but “scs tactics Abazigal” is new to me so I wasn’t sure what to expect and wanted an extra edge... see the "wise to be wise" post (on this forum) for details.

Prep;
I kept the buffs light mainly Imoen cast ‘Shapechange’ & set her ‘Contingency’ with ‘Clairvoyance’ (reveals the map) while Haer'Dalis set his to ‘Protection From Magical Weapons’... both on enemy seen. ‘Shield of the Archon’ for Do’Dad & invisibility all round before entering his lair.

Posted Image  Posted Image  Posted Image

Phase 1, The door is guarded by wyverns, craps my chances for a stealthy approach but Haer'Dalis runs forward to spin for us while the party makes a fast wyvern salad... three sets of contingencies get waisted here but Que Sera, Sera.

Posted Image  Posted Image  Posted Image

Phase 2, No boss yet so I sum adds and send them ahead to try and flush him out whilst we build a defensive back up. I can see that my adds are engaging his but Do’Dad  can’t find the boss anywhere.

Posted Image  Posted Image  Posted Image

Phase 3, Haer'Dalis sets a second defensive position then searches the map for Abazigal * hiding spot then pulled him over my ST to pop his dragon... wtf ** & where did the extra lizard come from?

Posted Image  Posted Image  Posted Image

Posted Image  Posted Image  Posted Image

Phase 4, I tried to divide/ kill the add first but the scripting buggs with this tactic so I had two dragons in a tight corner. Apparently purple dragons are high level mages with a nasty (ice?) breath, any way the end came quickly when Do’Dad  & Alyssia got knocked out by breath and the dragon ate Ormaline... my bad, I overmatched her.

Bugs/ issues:
I suspect the Modder had solo play in mind when designing this battle especially the cheesy *** two dragon final stage  & for the most part it works solidly but to beat it without using cheese myself I’d have to find tune my assaults to a degree that I don’t think would still be fun for me.

* In hindsight this was probably a mistake but retreating to reset Do’Dad s’ ‘Farsight ’ abilities just seemed cheesy... not actually sure if I can portal out but I was not in combat at the time?

** Apparently everyone in map takes dragon breath damage when he pops? As a code issue I can see how that makes things easier but from a RP angle, being attacked from 50 yards away by a boss that isn’t aware I’m even there seems a little much.
*** Unless summon purple dragon is a legitimate BG2 spell?

Emeritus:

I feel I gave Ormaline a fair shot at fulfilling her deific capability... she has tried numerous classes and no doubt helped pave the way for some of her future siblings but it just wasn’t to be!

Goodguy (level 14 cleric/level 13 illusionist controlled by Corey_Russell) and Badgirl (level 13 fighter/level 16 thief controlled by Dogdancing) continue their adventure...
Areas Battled: Firkraag's Lair, Trademeet orange pavillion, Brynnlaw, Spellhold entrance, Bhaal avatar (dream)

@USSNorway: Consolations there. But I think I am confused about something - this is minimal reloads, right? can't you reload and try the battle again? Or did the battle annoy you enough you just didn't want to see it again?

As for Badgirl and Goodguy - Badgirl was anxious to battle Firkraag. Goodguy asked did she want to cheese him, or give him a fair fight. She wanted a fair fight. So this is what the party did:

* Maximum buffs on Goodguy, and whatever he could spare for Badgirl
* Duo both had 100%+ fire resistance
* 2 Ariel Servants, Fire Elemental, Carrion Crawler, Genie (from lamp) summoned
* resist fear and group haste for everyone
* Creatures positioned around Firkraag

Then the battle commenced. Goodguy had Badgirl have her genie open with a lightning bolt. Since it fizzled due to Firkraag's magic resistance, he still was blue circle! So Goodguy went and ahead and cast 3 lower magic resists in a row. Badgirl used her sling throughout the fight (the dragon's bane) and +2 bullets. Goodguy thought that some summons died, but they didn't as his cast failed, they were just buffeted. The duo never had to tank - Firkraag did a firebreath attack at the duo, which did no damage...the summons returned and put the smack down on Firkraag. An ariel servant got the killing blow.
Posted Image
Looting in this lair was quite a problem, partly as the duo only had a single gem bag. But first, the duo sold their junk at Trademeet. They also got the belt of inertial barrier for Badgirl and also Tasheron's bow, just in case she want to bow instead of sling. They also helped out Tiris while they were here. Really easy quest...

Next stop the slums to purchase gem bag and glasses of identification from the shadow thief merchant in Galen's house. The duo was finally ready and set sail for Brynnlaw.

In Brynnlaw, they did help Gina and her brother. They took down Galvena and her pet mage with summons. Then the duo battled Perth the adept. While Goodguy did quite a few buffs, the battle was interesting. First Badgirl got hit with a big damage (sunfire I think), Goodguy didn't have breach! Oops he never re-fixed his spells after battling Firkraag...Badgirl got mazed. Goodguy then summoned all the help he could. A finger of death was headed for Goodguy! Ah yes, his death ward saved him once more...the summons finally kill Perth. Badgirl eventually returns....

The walk up to Spellhold was interesting - two groups of shadows, both slaughtered by Goodguy's turn undead.

Time for Bhaal. A bit anti-climatic. Goodguy had two Ariel Servants helping him, a fire elemental, and he also did DUHM -- well he got a huge hit of 34 damage with his FoA and combined with his summons, stopped Bhaal cold in no more than 2 rounds.

Dogdancing was getting rummy, so the duo called it a night and saved after being set free in the mazy by Bodhi.

Making good progress Corey/Goodgirl.

ussnorway, I vaguely recall this encounter from several years ago (have certainly encountered Tamah with Abazigal once or twice and probably resorted to easy mode, but don't think I had the series of run-up dragons). Something for me to look forward to by the look of it. Good luck with your next approach.

Now that I know about the extra dragon, I have his number, I’m definite of that but a death is the end of her campaign... the other two reloads were only because of bugs. Valando is installing the same Abazigal & (hopefully) will avenge Ormaline when the time comes.

Thanks Gate70, but no one called Goodgirl is doing anything. The characters are Goodguy and Badgirl. Badgirl has been dying much less now that we have some levels under our belts. Looking forward to UAI, which we will unlock in Spellhold for sure.

The continue adventures of Goodguy (level 14 cleric/level 14 illusionist controlled by Corey_Russell) and Badgirl (level 14 fighter/level 16 thief controlled by Dogdancing)...
Goodguy HLAs: Deva, Storm of Vengeance
Badgirl HLAs: Use Any Item (of course), Spike Trap
Areas battled: 1st and 2nd levels of Spellhold

So to start, the duo use their blunt weapons against a clay golem and get a bag of holding for Badgirl. She will keep her equipment in that bag, so now Goodguy doesn't have to hold her stuff anymore.

Next up was some yuan-tis. Goodguy tried a web and cloudkill, but it wasn't very effective. He ran back and then the duo slugged it out with the Yuan-tis. Some potions needed, but success.

Next up, a Rakshashka and friends. A cloudkill helped clear this up nicely. The duo handled the two enemies summoned via the portal very well.

More Yuan-tis, mostly dealt with what summons we had left. Time for the 2nd portion of this first level. For the book, the party members used ranged and had summons take the brunt of the monsters, but we did do a precaution of protection from petrification on Goodguy - good thing, as the beholder did target Goodguy with a few rays.

In this second level we encountered yet MORE yuan-tis -- dealt with by summons and ranged assist. For the large mass of undead just before Dace, Goodguy tried turn undead with sanctuary - this was not effective, not the least of the problems is a lich dispelled his sanctuary! Uh, oh, withdraw to Badgirl in the hallway. The greater mummies were just trashing Badgirl (she died at least once, maybe twice). Goodguy then remembered that she is using the mace of disruption - useless as you need +3 to hit those things. So Badgirl used her sword of mask instead and Goodguy did MMM. Finally the mummies were slain. But the lich is still left.

Since Goodguy has the best saves (his saves vs. spells is 1), Goodguy battled the lich in one-on-one combat. Dogdancing was still fazed by the chaos with the greater mummies so she didn't assist until the end. Despite a lot of bad stuff coming toward Goodguy, including finger of death, he saved vs. them all and eventually the FoA put down the lich for good.

Some Ariel servants and the party's melee weapons took down Dace. Time to start the 2nd level.

For the group of Yuan-tis by the locked doors, we tried some skeletons but the skeletons got slaughtered and the enemies approached. We used melee/ranged fire to take these enemies down. By the way, Badgirl got her first HLA around here, and we got UAI. Goodguy also got an HLA around here and chose Deva. Interestingly, Badgirl got confused at one point and managed to initiate combat with the mindflayer through the locked door! She even managed to kill it through the door with her sling! Not sure how she managed that...FoA again had to take down the yuan-ti mage.

Trolls were taken down rather simply with the duo's anti-troll weapons (sword of flame, Flail of the Ages). Goodguy triggered the traps with the paitings since he had the best saves. For the room with the Gauth, we had a Deva take care of business. The level is now clear, but Dogdancing was getting tired, so we saved and ended the session at this point.

Well, I think I'm going to be pulling Akail out of the challenge. I simply don't feel motivated enough to play her right now. Perhaps someday I will feel the motivation again.

Keep up the progress everyone else!

Aw, sorry to see you go, Sapph. Maybe BG:EE will breathe some new life into the game.

You should maybe try what I do - play other games for a few months, and then, you will be able to come back to BG with a fresh set of ideas and motivation.

Gratz on yours and your wife's progress, Corey. You know what would be totally awesome? Now that you've got your wife into it, then when your kids get a bit older, you could do family runs. That's a run I'd really love to read.

The new BG:EE release is supposed to have improved multiplayer support. Perhaps that will help realize some of these kinds of dreams.

Actually, Dogdancing and my son and myself have a run going (in BG 1), but it's very slow progress, the son doesn't often get into the mood to play. The littlest one can't read yet, and BG a bit tough to really play without being able to read...Also, we can only get 3 computers connected in BG 1, for some reason the windows 98 computer won't connect to the other BG computers who are windows 7 and windows XP. So can only get 3 to play BG at once anyways...

The continuing multi-player adventures of Goodguy (level 15 cleric/level 15 illusonist controlled by Corey_Russell) and Badgirl (level 15 fighter/level 17 thief controlled by Dogdancing)
Areas Battled: Spell hold 3rd and 4th levels, Spellhold Irenicus
Goodguy HLAs: Deva, Storm of Vengeance
Badgirl HLAs: UAI, spike trap (1)

The duo battled some goblins who were shooting ranged fire and dealt with them with our slings. We also battled some spore colonies. A skeletal warrior was enough to tip the battle in our favor. We also battled some trolls, had a little summon help assist us.

Finally, we've escaped the Spellhold Maze! First order of business is Goodguy looted the arrows of dispelling and had Badgirl equip those and a bow. We might have to fight Lonk, and if not, we will certainly need for Irenicus.

So before showing ourselves to Lonk, Goodguy buffed the party to the max. Corey_Russell tried to explain what the plan was to Dogdancing. Arrows of dispelling then her sword. But before we even went upstairs, I noticed something bad -- namely I didn't have spell immunity memorized! Drats, wanted that to protect against horrid wiliting. I had my anti-dragon spell set up still...too late, time to charge.

I did the first two question answers then told Lonk he only follows out of fear. He wasn't buying it, and a fight ensued. Dogdancing (the person) was very confused, partly due to the mislead that Lonk did, and also because Lonk's avatar is exactly the same as Goodguy's!

Lonk quickly did horrid wilting, AND dispelled all the parties buffs! Yikes!. Goodguy ran out of the small room by the stairs, to the room where you initially see Imoen. Dogdancing was still confused, Goodguy said to attack Lonk, but she didn't recognize who Lonk was. Goodguy starting bringing up summon after summon. Sure enough, Lonk slew Badgirl. However, with Goodguy's great saves, and mass of summons assisting, Lonk eventually fell.

However, this meant the crazies and I met up with Irenicus - with Badgirl dead and Goodguy buffless! Uh, oh...

Well, the first play was RoR on Badgirl. Goodguy paused immediately when he had control to bring her up. We couldn't give Badgirl her stuff, it is still upstairs! Goodguy managed to find a few things in his bag of holding, but not much for Badgirl, at least he gave her the Ilbratha, which she is proficient in.

The battle raged for quite a while, including a RoR heal on Badgirl.  Irenicus too did a horrid wilting. Goodguy was quick to get out its effect. Badgirl taking a lot of damage, but Goodguy gave her the LAST 3 heal potions they had which were the superior kind...in any case, a breach by Goodguy allowed Badgirl to get some good hits in , and we finally forced Irenicus to flee. Dogdancing was very confused by all the mage buffs (spell immunities, fireshields, etc.) and it made her hard to see what was going on.

But we still had to deal with backstabbing thieves. Goodguy decided to put death fog on Badgirl, then RoR heal her when she got low. This was enough to finish the assassins. But in any case, the battle is won, we had ZERO heal potions left, and we picked Badgirl's stuff.

We ended up healing by resting. We accepted Saemon's offer, and Goodguy retrieved the horn Saemon wanted. We dealt with a Githyanki attack easily, and made it to the Sahuagin Cave. Goodguy let Badgirl choose the dialog option and she chose to fight the entire city! That was new, Corey_Russell never did that choice...but we lose access to the merchant, so perhaps that's wasn't such a great idea. We slew the king's court, looted the rope we need for the Underdark, and then our son wanted to play Baldur's Gate with us. So we ended our session here.

Goodguy (level 15 cleric/leve 14 illusionist controlled by Corey_Russell) and Badgirl (level 15 fighter/level 18 thief controlled by Dogdancing) continue their adventure...
Areas battled: Sahuagin City

So the party continued to press into this Sahuagin City. Most enemies were taken down with either summons, melee/ranged or cloudkill. The mass of undead, Goodguy did sanctuary then turn undead. This killed all the undead except for some greater ghoul/ghast and also the undead Lord. Well, we did kill these two enemies, but the Lord did some kind of vicious poison attack. Goodguy used two RoR heals on Badgirl, but it wasn't enough, she still succumbed to it and died. Badgirl wanted to use that spell/ability in our arsenal, but not possible, unfortunately.

There was an area with traps and crazy imps who wanted to play a "game". Fortunately, Badgirl was up to the task of detrapping the joint while Goodguy did the "game" and got some items.

With some summons, we also battled this trap of Sahuagin who suddenly appeared and one of them had some magic protection. After slaying them, we found a cloak of mirroring - using this is our almost only chance against the Beholders. Since Badgirl is in front much of the time, gave to her (will also want her to take down the beholders) while now Goodguy equips the cloak of displacement, Badgirl's hand-me down.

Finally, last stop was to deal with the rebels. A skeletal warrior, ariel servant and two mutatated carrion crawlers did most of the work, while the duo slinged.

Our son wanted to play our Baldur's Gate 1 game with Dogdancing and myself (Corey_Russell), so we saved here, right at the entrance to the Underdark.

The multi-player adventure of Goodguy (level 16 cleric/level 16 illusionist controlled by Corey_Russell) and Badgirl (level17 fighter/level 19 thief controlled by Dogdancing) continues...

So the duo finally made it to the Underdark. First priority was to take down the mindflayers just north of the entrance. Corey_Russell did all this explaining, did CC on the duo, moved 2 skeletal warriors and an ariel servant up, and a single mind flayer was quickly slaughtered anti-climatically. Apparently the # of mind flayers depends on the # of people in the group, so instead of the usual 3 we only saw 1. Never knew that.

Ok time to sell, no sweat. No potions of healing for the party though, this could be tough. We had to sell and buy back the rod of resurrection and got some sticker shock - we had to pay 20,000 gold! Yikes! That's a bit steep just so I can keep Badgirl alive...

The duo handled the mass of elementals well, and both gained a level. Next up, the drow war party in the center, on the way to the gnome village. 4 skeletal warriors led the way with the duo supporting with their slings. Slow, but eventual defeat of the enemy was achieved.

Well, it was smooth so far, but now it is definitely not going to be smooth. The duo had a heck of a time with the Myconids. Goodguy quickly realized that he needed to spam his good summons if they were to survive. Well he did so, but then all of a sudden Badgirl died quickly...whaaaatt? Oh, I see - Badgirl was so confused she accidentally attacked our deva and made it hostile! Massive # of Myconids and the deva were approaching Goodguy...there's no choice, he must flee - Goodguy casts invisibility on himself (he's done a lot of times this run in battle) and ran away.

Time to regroup. Goodguy resurrects Badgirl, gives her some equipment Goodguy has been holding onto, and they return to the scene of the crime. By this time, the deva has despawned, and apparently it took down a lot of myconids with her. Two spore colonies left - this time punches were not held back, Goodguy ordered the duo to use their lightning bolt wands on the spore colonies. Well, Badgirl had trouble targeting, due to her inexperience with wands (remember all, this is really only the 2nd time Dogdancing has played BG 2 EVER, and the first time only got out of Chateau Irenicus before quitting AND that was 10 years ago!), and Corey_Russell had to physically come to her computer to fire the lightning wand, since Dogdancing wasn't able to do it. We used the lightning wands on the remaining spore colony and finally, the way to the gnome village was now clear!

But first, we saved an imprisoned mage and got his book for him. We next fought some Kuo-Toas in the south-east portion of the cavern, with skeletal warriors leading the way. After refreshing our summons, we also had the summons lead the way against the drow war party on the bridge. Badgirl commented that the cloak of mirroring graphic really gets in her way of targeting -- too bad she needs it all the time or I would tell her to take it off. I know a mod fixes this, but then would need to install the mod on 3 computers, grrr...

Last battle we released a soul and it was a lich! Goodguy had a deva prepared in advance, but the deva was feared! Eventually the liches PfMW wore off, and the duo quickly wore down the lich's defenses and killed it, gaining a level for Goodguy. At this point, Dogdancing was super-stressed, partly due to her physical pain and the kids harassassing her -- so the duo ended the session here for the night.

Goodguy (cleric/illusionist controlled by Corey_Russell) and Badgirl (Fighter/Thief controlled by Dogdancing) continues their adventure...

The duo successfully dealt with all the "trapped souls". The duo also cleared out the Kuo Toa, with lots and lots of summons. The duo even successfully defeated the demon knights, which didnt' kill anyone but level drained Badgilrl a little.

The duo tried to deal with the 2 beholders as you enter the beholder's lair and the enemies were almost dead (read: both were near death), then Badgirl got instant-killed. Reload #7. Same as before, except this time Goodguy prepped Badgirl with death ward and protection from petrification - success!

Some summons were brought up, and they and Badgirl took down the drow and the beholder they were fighting. Badgirl tried to clear but got stunned by a mind flayer, so Goodguy came down and assisted. Together and with summons, the duo took down the gauths and mind flayers in the area.

More beholders left, but no SoB so Badgilrl has to do most of the work. Uh, oh Badgirl was IMPRISONED. Hmmm, by this point, Goodguy almost completely out of summons, a lesser air elemental and fire elemental were, slowly, able to kill the final Elder Orb. Goodguy left the area to buy a freedom scroll (Goodguy can't even cast level 8 mage spells yet). So Goodguy came back to where Badgirl was imprisoned and freed her. We ran into that strange bug where bags were duplicated (though they were identical). Goodguy put down his duplicates, while Badgirl kept hers.

Badgirl was finally starting to get tired, so the duo ended the session here. Mind Flayer city will be attempted next.

Meoru, dwarf kensai (level 24).
From the BG2 no-reload thanks to a lich (symbol fear) in the Unseeing Eye feeder pit. Meoro picks himself up and decides to tackle a pair of even harder encounters.

I use Daystar and Dragonslayer then Azuredge, a GWW, a WW, 3 improved hastes and still have to tidy up some of the undead after that. Invisibility allows me to reach the other half of the rod and the Unseeing Eye is quickly killed. I grab a halberd hidden to the north then use a scroll of protection from magic to play with the remaining beholders/gauth and a group of blind priests. It lasts through a pack of yuan-ti and Gaal, and into the downstairs lesson from Sion / Ketta where something removes it. Once gone I start taking damage so after killing the summons I transform into the sewer troll and regenerate HP.

After returning to human form I glug stone form and mind focusing potions, use an improved haste and head upstairs. Sion is one-shotted then Koshi falls from the remaining haste. Stalman goes to GWW and as I set to Maferan / Olaf Rassmusen Ketta strikes. I glug and run, going round the furniture away from the traps. As I return to Olaf and Maferan Ketta backstabs again and again sometimes from an unfeasible distance. After the fifth or sixth strike I have killed Olaf but am close and quick enough to Ketta for a decisive reply. I'm almost dead and Maferan hits me again so I move away and toss him the dwarven thrower until he collapses.

After a rest and inventory clearout I am off to the the bridge district. Hardiness, DUHM, mirror image and improved haste are used to smash Dracandros, Pitre, Falahar and Valeria before they can make a stand. Now for the main part.

No amusement for Shangalar today. Vaxall re-buffs and is only injured by the time Shyressa arrives so I turn around and mace her. Back to Vaxall who has completely de-buffed me and allowed a number of painful attacks to connect. I run to the other side of the room but nobody follows - Layene or her spell area effects kill Revanek while I am glugging potions and though she is bickering with a pit fiend but I have to interfere. I summon a berserk warrior and kill the efreeti then Layene.
