WHY END MASS EFFECT?

even though im sure if they wanted to keep shepard going they could and it would be great
i think it would be great if they made another trilogy in the mass effect universe,
what i owuld like to see is a game set in the rachni wars, or the krogan rebellions, or the when the races found the citadel, or years after shepards story, bioware can really do anything they want with the series its SCI-FI
but they better not stop making mass effect games

Shepards story is epic because it's only a trilogy if it were any longer the surprises would just get old too quick and it would seem more like an episode rather than a quest. The time has come for Shepard to hang up his space boots.
I would like to see some more games set in the ME universe though.
^This. Exactly.
I agree, everything has to end. I would rather it end with a sense of longing and wonder rather than one of "not this again."

I would suggest you read up a bit on the news. They said that ME3 would be the end of Shepard story, not the end of the Mass Effect universe.
ME3 is the Conclusion of Shepard's story trilogy.
Mass Effect itself is probably going to make a come back as either another story in the universe, or perhaps a whole MMO like TOR did.

They have a superb IP set up, as it has been said that this is the end of Shepard's story, not the end of the franchise I'm sure we'll see a new protagonist, Captain Pigpharma or some such.
To much money in it nd more to tell rather then just end the story. There will be alot to do in the aftermqath of what ever happens in 3
At-least thats what I am thinking.

Bioware has spent the last 6 years building one of the most definitive titles of our generation. Mass effect has since then expanded greatly and picked up many fans along the way. I have become not only fond of the gameplay of mass effect but also emotionally attached to the characters and story. Seeing Commander Shepard grow into one of the greatest heroes of gaming like masterchief, i dont want to see it end and im sure lots of fans dont as well.
The only viable reason to end it is because of the final reaper invasion, but who says they are the only threat in the universe. Like Soveriegn said there is a relm of existence beyond your comprehension. Give me your thoughts on Mass Effect ending and ideas on how they could continue the series.DONT LET MASS EFFECT DIE
Question:
Did you like starwars episodes 1,2 and 3?
Somethings should just be let go.
Star Wars episodes 1-3 are bad examples of where Mass Effect could go. A better example would be the Star Wars expanded universe. Without it, Star Wars is only around 12 hours of content. I'd say the SWEU represents around 90% of Star Wars content and lore. I'll even go as far to say episodes 1-3 would never have happend without the millions of new fans the EU brought in. If Mass Effect intends to be a household name like Star Wars and Star Trek, they need to keep cranking out those novels and comic books to build that foundation of history and lore the games and the movies will be built on.

Unfortunately it seems like they're considering a MMO.

While the conversations might not make you feel like you are involved as much as they did with Shepard, the locations, events and the world in general tend to do exactly the opposite.aftohsix wrote...
I doubt this is the end of Mass Effect. It is however the end of Shepard's story. I'd be all for another game with a different protagonist set much further into the future.

You will have a much bigger universe to explore but less storyline involvement.
Who knows maybe we will see some referances to Shepard and his team, and perhaps even some old friends. Unless it's WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY into the future or past.

I'm sure they'd do it well and it'd be a fun game but some people just don't like MMOs. I'm one of them.

I wouldn't mind seeing either though.
An MMO or another game, as long as it's Mass Effect, I'd play it.

If I was EA I'd force them to do ME4 and ME5 with Shephard and then end it. There are too many things to do and ME3 won't be enough. ME2 felt rushed halfway through, ME3 will feel rushed from the very beginning. I want them to take their time instead. I want many details as to what happens to each character.
I´ll force them to give Shepard a rest after ME3, an then make spin-off games from the ME universe (precuels, paralel histories, etc).

Though I have nothing against continuing stories in the ME-verse, I hope they're not planning for that in convergent endings - that would suck.
Bioware create great IPs. They will come back to ME, but I would be fine with it if they didn't. Jade Empire, Dragon Age and Mass Effect is a damn good track record for recent originality!
Hell - give me a Bioware RPG in a Victorian steampunk setting. They haven't done that one yet!
