Actually, we're all guests in this "glass house", and as such, we have to play by their rules. If their rules seem arbitrary sometimes, that's unfortunate, but it's their prerogative to be arbitrary if that's what they want to do. Participation here is a privilege, not an right we are automatically entitled to, if that makes sense.

This.

again like with the "did anybody want vega" thread really dont understand problem OP has.are you upset that the game has a romance feature and that bioware spending time developing each individual LI's story is takeing away time and resources from the gameplay and whole reaper invasion plot thus bringing down the qaulity of the rest of the game?

or are you upset that so many ppl like the feature? thus prompting bioware to give said ppl their own section in the forums.

either way the romances are not mandatory, comeing to this section of the forums is not mandatory and im pretty sure the devs arent spending more time trying to cater to us romancers than working on how many more ways shepard can be badass and save the galaxy.

The romance subplot is there to give the game more depth for the player. They are optional though. Like others have said, it gives the player a more life like feel when playing the game because it provides someone for your character to care for and a reason to fight other than just surviving.

I personally like the romance subplot. It gives the game a more unique feel and playthrough experience. Take it out and the gameplay will be like the other shoot em' up games out there. There's nothing wrong with those games of course, but there several of those games out there. BW did a good thing by putting the romance in. It gave the game a deeper and more realistic feel that a lot of the fans love.

With all respect to the OP, I'm not sure that the OP correctly applied the metaphor of "glass houses."

To properly apply the "glass house" saying:

If people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, then if Bioware is a person in a glass house (with the "glass house" being the addition of romances to a game), then Bioware should "throw stones" (or attack) at other game companies that add romances to a game. ... I don't remember reading that Bioware criticized other gaming companies for adding romances to their products.

I'm not sure what metaphor would work in the OP's example.  I think what the OP is saying is that Bioware, by adding romances in the game, should not react to some players' criticism of those romances.  Maybe he is suggesting that Bioware "turn the other cheek" and not respond to attacks?

Who knows? Maybe I am suffering from "sour grapes" at the thought that I won't get my Captain Kirrahe romance in ME3.

Ye gods, it is too darn early.  I need coffee.  Image IPB

I've seen some of the threads containing the "opinions"...they are closed for a reason. Any discussion of sexuality tends to devolve quite quickly. I've seen well reasoned and understandable points on both sides but the majority don't follow this trend.

You're close to the understanding of this metaphor. What I mean is when BW open for a discussion like this, must they also accept any strange input. And closing threads with any strange input or opinions, is like throwing stones in a glass house.

Yes, it's weird how things progress, from case-to person discussion.

Also relevant, OP: Have you ever played a Bioware game? Other than ME?

Romance subplots have been a hallmark of their games for more than a decade.

Have played ME and ME2, that's it. No others BW games.

Well, there's the problem. You play one Bioware franchise and suddenly expect Bioware to stop including content they're included for years. Content that the people who've been following Bioware for years generally like, or are at least not offended by it.

It's something that we, the people who have been handing money to Bioware for years, like, so...you're just going to have to accept it.

Maybe, but it's never to late to change.
