For me it will not be enough unless you up the rpg elements to a much greater degree than in ME2 but it has helped.

You know the old fashioned paper personal organizers (the day planners) called an agenda? In the 80s you could buy a "Feminist Agenda" in my country. I wonder if they still manufacture those.Fiddles_stix wrote...
We're never going to be enlightened about the feminist agenda. It's a shame because I'd like to join.
You should send me one! Although I don't think I could join a defined movement as I spend all day trying to argue my way around labels.
@Mesina2 nooo don't let the photoshop change your mind! Not that I can talk thanks to mrcrusty
Another article - I prefer this to the Destructoid one they sourced from but that too is in the article.

Has a date been released for the FemShep trailer?

Shepard is an "icon" he/she can be anyone. Yes Sheploo was chosen as the main "look" but not everyone is male or white. I know they cannot cater to everyone but just mentioning FemShep is step in the right direction as there a lot more female player than most people think.
Just seeing some of these comments makes me feel as if we've stepped back 100years in equality. Why are people so threatened over one placement on the CE?

And are there really still people out there how won't buy a product because it has the fairer sex on it? What is this, the 1900's? Their not 'cowing' us poor women folk. I don't even think that was what they were trying to do. They are just showing a important character in the game that so far has been completely left out.
So....

Anyway even though its been known for some time on the forums/twitter, the media has only picked up on it now. Hence why the thread has been created because forums like to discuss whats currently in the news for Mass Effect. At the moment its this.
Anyway heres another article. Im losing count now

We hoped for slightly better this time round. This is bigger then many of us imagined so were really grateful to Bioware. It is a massive step, thus why many of us are enjoying the moment.

I am dumbfounded that people are objecting to this. The shared cover is only going to be on the Collectors' Edition, apparently, and the vast majority of people buying that will be return customers who already know Shep can be personalized.
Effectively what this is, is a bone to all the women who - despite what the other boys on the playground told you - also play video games. This is worse than the people complaining about same sex relationships because NOTHING is changed about the game by adding FemShep to the cover ... the only reason to deny the fans this, then, is if you're a selfish, vindictive arse.
My Shep has always been female and I am sick of only seeing Sheploo on the covers and trailers ... isn't my money just as good as that of all the people who are playing a man? Women are filling a pretty big part of the video game market these days - especially in crpgs - so why should they continue to be left out in the cold when it comes to marketing?
This. So very much.

Lara Croft is a CANON character for the Tomb Raider series. "Sheploo" or default Shepard, is NOT canon, and BioWare specifically mentioned this. You cannot compared the two, it just doesn't work that way. That's where this illogical sense comes from...
oh dear god, way to miss the analogy.
She didn't miss it :/ SilentNukee was specifically talking about your analogy and explaining why it doesn't work.

I do not want her on my collectors edition..... I can't see Shep being anything other than a male. Sorry.
So all those who like Femshep shouldn't get her on a cover just because of the ones who prefer Male Shepards?
Talk about selfish and immature.

It shows a certain lack of maturity when one can't just be happy for other's good fortunes. We have people that strongly support MaleShep (like Mesina) that can be happy for the FemShep fans, why is it so hard for others to just accept it? If you lose sleep over the fact that Sheploo is sharing a cover with Jane, you really need to get your priorities straightened out.
This whole "Blar blar brand recognition, confusing casual gamers!" argument is hilarious to me. Mass Effect is a storydriven series where the *player* creates their Shepard. The Commander isn't set in stone like other franchaises. BioWare knows what they're doing. If they think it's the right choice to give FemShep her spot on the CE, get over yourself and realize that things change. For those of you that love Sheploo, there are plenty of us that are bored of seeing him (be it either for FemShep or even CustomMaleSheps) on every cover and even this slight little change is refreshing.
I'm just hoping that someday the folks that get so worked up over every little thing BW decides to do with their business realize that life is a two way street, and things change over time.

So if, and when, ME3 sells more than ME2, can I use that to point out that you're wrong about everything you think you know about marketing? You know, since Femshep/Shephale having her own trailer and being on the back cover of the CE is going to dillute the marketing so much that men and casual players will be too confused to buy the game.Jebel Krong wrote...
AngryFrozenWater wrote...
But having ShepLoo on it without FemShep didn't do that either. Ghehe.
? are you saying ME1 sold more than ME2? i didn't think so - try not to be so flippant when you're wrong.
On a more general note, this is great news. Sure, it's only the back cover of the CE, but as someone with 4 FemShep/Shephale playthroughs, it's a nice touch for the final chapter. I'm really looking forward to seeing what the new default looks will be, what the trailer looks like, and as someone that gives Bioware a LOT of money, I'm looking forward to being able to see DLC content for Femshep/Shephale before I slap down said money on it.
Informed decisions assisted by the company selling me the game? Wonder of wonders.
And yes, there are women who have become more interested in this game, and decided to buy it, because they discovered they didn't have to play as the male featured on the box art. It's not the majority, sure, but it's certainly more sales, and I have more faith in casual gamers and men than to assume that simply adding a woman to the box art and giving her a trailer is going to stop them from buying the game.

FemShep will be in a trailer this summer. You don't have to watch it.
There is no canon Shepard, only default for marketing purposes.

The reason I played as a FemShep and for that matter any time I am given the option to have my character be female, I always choose female. Why? Becuase I a little tired of seeing almost nothing but male main characters. Also I think its more fun to play a female and for me when I play games I don't care about the character representing who I am, I play games to forget who I am for a little bit.
I think to often female characters in games are relegated to being either the damsel in distress or the love interests. It a nice change of pace having a strong female lead who is doing the resucing and kicking butt and taking names.
Don't get me wrong their are instances of main female characters who aren't female player character in games that are a damsel in, distress, and love interest all at once. Elena from Uncharted for example however in her case she still shows she can take care of herself even if she does need to be rescued on occasion.
Sorry got a little off topic didn't I? Well back on topic cool for Bioware finally using FemShep in some marketing.

I can't speak for everyone but I don't think people are objecting to it as much as they just don't see it as a necessary thing. I mean, some of you are confused on why some have a strong opinion against it, but you, in turn confuse the same people with your strong feelings on why it HAS TO BE.
If it's not a big deal, as some of you state, then why do it?
So much hypocrisy...but I guess that is the norm in these forums.

To please fans? Like Bioware has always done? What exactly is wrong with that?
