Its a shame they only used it that ONE time in ME2 with Garrus/Tali but hopefully we get more of that in 3.

I heard about that. How do you get that conversation? Which elevator is it?

Take Garrus and Tali to the Citadel, head up one floor and on the stairs they'll start talking.

I don't mind as long as they let you leave and enter the Normandy via the air lock as you did in me1.

Elevators, without a doubt.

The loading screens in ME2 took approx. the same amount of time as the elevators - at least the elevators weren't immersion breaking.

You also get banter with some other squadmates, like Grunt/Mordin at Mordin's talking point on Tuchanka (in Fortack's lab-thing) or Morinth/Grunt and Morinth/Mordin (same place). They're still relatively few and far between.

EDIT: Actually, scratch that.  There's a lot more than I'd thought.  Lots of Jack and Grunt squad banter.

The elevators gave banter and music, and pretty much a seamless slide to another section without stopping the game. It felt organic.

I actually liked the elevators in Mass Effect 1, but that was only because it was the one place where your Squadmates actually spoke to each other.

I actually really liked the elevators, it was a clever way to keep you immersed in the game while it's loading and you get to listen to some banter at the same time

BioWare's problem is that they didn't clearly indicate that the elevators were supposed to replace loading screens.

i prefered the elevators, it was that extra touch of immersion for me along with the decontamination sequence. but i understand that people dont tend to have patience these days and want to get to the 'good" stuff a lot faster

I recall in one of the dev comments that they were trying to go for more active background loading, like when on the derelict reaper. First active load screen is the "Reaper put up kinetic barriers" cutscene, followed by "equalizing pressure".
I fully expect Shep climbing ladders to be another example of active background loading.

I enjoyed the elevators much much more than the constant traditional loading screen.

I hate the loading screens in ME2. They're boring and completely killed the continuity and immersion. Same thing with the "Mission End" screen/report.

ME1's elevators were better, in my opinion but could really do with being faster.

Either way, I'm pretty sure Bioware have said they're trying to minimize loading screens as much as possible. Whatever that means, it sounds good.

Prefer elevator, can fit some banter or hear local news and it was fun. What i mostly want gone is the ****ing Mission report bull**** that we had in ME2 after every single quest. God i hated those.

I hated the elevators. I like teleporting to my next location, not riding a 20 minute elevator ride listening to some douchebag on the elevator radio.

I would love the elevators! If they were shorter. I played ME1 and constantly my brother and I were joking "oooh man! If there was an emergency in the Citadel, everyone is SCREWED!"

I recently started playing ME1 (after ME2) and it isn't so bad...yeah, they're still somewhat long. But..it isn't as bad as it felt before. However, if they could incorporate the elevators with shorter loading times -- awesome. I would be thoroughly excited!

Much preferred the loading screens to the elevators. I liked the squad banter but the newscast drove me insane. I don't care that the media thinks Shep is amazing I want to hear that the squadies think Shep is a fool or great or what they think about each other. The elevators still felt far too long to me even with convos.

I want the elevators back! Loading screens are dumb. I'd rather play around with the camera, look at my Shepard and listen to squad mate's banter than looking at the immersion-breaking loading screen.

I liked the elevators because of the banter and the odd news reports. Then there was that one elevator on the Normandy, which I thought was hell, but at least I could spin the camera around and make 'whoosh' noises while I was stuck in it.

But of course ME2 rolled around with its new flashy loading screens, and I can't believe I hated them even more than the snail Normandy elevator. It's just the same few orange animations over and over, without the camera spin and whoosh.

I don’t mind really just so long as they don’t have you wait even when the game is finished loading.

I didn’t like the elevators from ME1, the music annoyed the hell out of me as did getting repeats of news report over and over again. This is more due to how they were done tho, it could be improved and then it could be a potentially be nice touch. The banter was good but you don’t need elevators for that.
Loading screens don’t really break immersion for me unless you’re loading every 2 seconds. The Loading screens form ME2 were boring IMO but that doesn’t have to be the case. For example I actually like the loading screens form APB.
