As long as they don't f-it up. Live action Videogame movies don't have good track-records *cough*Mario, Street Fighter*cough*.

The anime, we'll see.

ME wiki has confirmed my fears.
This comics cover is indeed original.
I can't believe that the lead writer of ME3 is behind this.
We are doomed I'm tellin ya! doomed!

Too much judgment and negativity here. At the least lend positive thoughts to those involved. Remember: you get back what you send out; pure and basic Universal mechanics.

Thoughts are things, choose good ones.

I can't wait to see who they get to play Shepard and I wonder how they're going to do Wrex, Garrus and all the other aliens (in the live action film that is). It should be sick! I'm so stoked!

I would suspect they'd put the original voice actor's in mocap suits and CGI them like they did in Avatar and Beowolf. Amazing watching how they did Beowolf by the way. Best way to get the aliens to look and sound just like in the game in my opinion.

There is an infinite amount of reasons why this is wrong.
This is how a ME anime is going to look like.
Now, I'm not intersted in the anime by a tiny bit, but this is probably how ME3 is going to look like as well.

So yeah, I think we can be a little negetive.

Film Adaptations are one of those things that I quite like, like remakes.

If they suck, I can ignore them and pretend they never happen. If I like them, I end up with awesome additional content to enjoy.

See, the animated one I'll probably pass on, because generally speaking - beyond comedy animation, I can't stand animated films. Live action though, as long as they don't grab the worst actors known to man, I can deal with.

Why do you not care for animated films?

Just haven't enjoyed any beyond Shrek, Toy Story and Disney. I have a hard time being drawn into the worlds I guess.

*shrug* Its no biggie, I don't hate them or anything, just get really bored watching them. I keep trying every few months with a new one...meh.

Subnote: Oh, I guess my first post did look rather strongly that I hated them - but I don't. It was a poor choice of wording. Coffee hasn't kicked in yet ;)

Have you tried any Studio Ghibli films such as My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away? or how about Barefoot Gen and Grave of the Fireflies?

They're gonna be awful. I WANT them to be awesome, but I really haven't seen any videogame film adapted well. Pretty much....ever.

I mean seriously, can you imagine how Wrex or Grunt's going to look?

<sigh>

In my opionion the Mass Effect univese is the best contender that's come along that has the potential to de-thrown Star Wars, but they have to take the film as seriously as if they were making a Star Wars movie though. This is the problem with video game movies. They're just not given the talent and budget to pull it off to do the material justice. If they just set aside the fact this Mass Effect was a series of video games and put as much money and talent as Lucas pumps into his stuff, Mass Effect could be the next mainstream Sci-fi franchise up there with Star Wars and Star Trek.

Animated is the way to go. It could be decent without a big budget.

A live action Mass Effect film however, will most likely be a steaming pile of crap that is only slightly more watchable than Battlefield Earth. It will be done on the cheap like 99% of all video game to film adaptations, with a D-list cast, a crap director and a hack writer. It will be nothing more than a money making venture by a studio looking to make maximum profit out of minimum investment on a popular video game title.

Thanks, but no thanks.

What?  That is a great, ummm, perspective of FemShep.  I do see what you mean though.  Yet, I stand by my comments.

Not sure - a couple of them ring a bell though. Its not the content - its the animation itself, the colour pallette, the style, the art direction if you will. It just doesn't tweak my senses in anyway.

Animated could be interesting if done right. I hope they can go with a more gritty/sci-fi animation style.
Maybe something like Ergo Proxy had.

And come on everyone, have video game to movie adaptions really been that bad?

How about something like that it's top class animation.

After being let down with the "development hell" that resulted in the Metal Gear Solid movie never coming out, I'm in the "I'll believe it when I see it" camp.

This. "Confirmed" Movies based on video games have a habit of never actually being released.

No, they have a habit of being released.  By Uwe Boll. Then they flop like every other movie he makes because they only appeal to the fans of the game who are freaked out pissed at his butcherment of the storyline, then because he made a $40 million dollar movie that made only $10 million, netting a $30 million dollar loss, he then makes a SEQUEL to the movie which also flop. Two of them in the case of Bloodrayne.

I don't get it how the man is still making movies, unless the rumors of loopholes in German tax law.  Basically, the rumor says that German tax law allows if an investor doesn't make all their money back, the government pays them all of it back.  So, you invest $20 million, only get back $5 million, the government then pays you $20 million, and look you now made $5 with no risk.  Sounds fishy and probably isn't true, but if it isn't then why the heck is Boll still making movies when he's never had a movie make back more than half of it's production cost?

Haha, I ninja'd you by a page with my Ergo Proxy link. That's the style of animation and storytelling I'd like to see from an ME animated film (well, apart from the couple of really weird episodes - game show one and old guy philosophising one spring to mind).

Fears?

I love it! I love it forever and ever I love it.

I love this universe and I love seeing more of it. I can't wait for the live-action movie. In fact, I wish I could be a part of it somehow.

Bring it on. Always bring on more Mass Effect.

Ah, you got me, Hahah. Agreed on appreciating the overall atmoshere and style the series went for.
You're right on some filler moments having their ups and downs, but as a whole I think it did well, so you'd hope a continuous movie could avoid that problem.

If the Anime is relevant to Mass Effect (Like a Prothean, Reaper, Shepard or Shep's Squad members related story) then yeah I'll watch.

Yep, that's the Alternate Cover by Joe Quinones for Issue #3, the real art was done by Massimo Carnevale.  Check the wiki.

But I figured that there's 2 films being developed right now, it was never said that the real-life adaptation was replaced with the anime.

I'd withdraw my BW Social account status if that were the case. :P

As I said before, I definitely hope that the live action movie ends up being CG.
