The anime is going to be released through Funimation, so here's to hoping it appears on their channel.  I'll buy it myself, but I think it would be cool to see it being shown on their channel.

The actual company making the animation is a studio called T.O Entertainment.

And apparently a Dragon Age animated film is in the works by them as well.  I can't wait!

I hope all the game voices don't get recast for the animated film, dumping the established actors for 'big names'.

Same here.  When the Xenosaga anime came out, I couldn't watch it because all the voice actors that made the game so great were replaced.  Crispin Freeman was awesome as Albedo and I don't think anyone could do work on the level that he did for the character.

No, they have a habit of being released.  By Uwe Boll. Then they flop like every other movie he makes because they only appeal to the fans of the game who are freaked out pissed at his butcherment of the storyline, then because he made a $40 million dollar movie that made only $10 million, netting a $30 million dollar loss, he then makes a SEQUEL to the movie which also flop. Two of them in the case of Bloodrayne.

I don't get it how the man is still making movies, unless the rumors of loopholes in German tax law.  Basically, the rumor says that German tax law allows if an investor doesn't make all their money back, the government pays them all of it back.  So, you invest $20 million, only get back $5 million, the government then pays you $20 million, and look you now made $5 with no risk.  Sounds fishy and probably isn't true, but if it isn't then why the heck is Boll still making movies when he's never had a movie make back more than half of it's production cost?

Yeah, I don't get it either.

I don't understand how the people who made these games gave him permission to make movies based off of them.  I remember reading an article around the time Metal Gear Solid 4 came out about how Hideo Kojima, when asked, said he wouldn't allow the guy to make a movie based off his games.

Well, it wouldn't take much for the story to be better than Mass Effect 2's.

The Mass Effect live action movie could be the best sci fi action drama movie thing of all time but there is a massive massive chance it won't so I'm not really happy about it, its just too risky. The animated movie has a better chance but really it depends on how they animate it and what the writing is like.

I'm hoping the CGI and quality is almost like that recent Star Trek movie they made (but different of course) and the acting is good, and there isn't too much action or pointless fighting, or too many cheesy scenes or bad scriptwriting or over the top drama etc.

So many things to worry about the live action film.

They should get the voice actors to act their parts!!! (or at least Miranda, TIM, and whoever else looks like their character lol) That would be awesome! -- unless the plot isn't going to be about commander shepard. In which case maybe they could still include the actors.

Well I just hope they're good, and that Shepard and his squadmates DONT appear in them, atleast then I will feel any choices I make (what gender Shep is, who's alive/dead ect) wont feel wrong if they aren't the same as the movies.

This. Be it distant sequel or prequel, I want it to be a separate work from the gaming Trilogy. ME movies should build on the universe and expand it, not recycle (and make some things canon and some not) what was already told. It's the same reason I wouldn't really want to see KOTORs adapted into movies. Their stories were told via game format, RPGs to be exact, they should remain like that.

Anime I kind of wish they'd go Canadian style with, not to go back to the classics like with Rock and Rule, but more like the slightly newer yet still kind of old Heavy Metal 2000 style for it. I know alot were not a fan of it but I know enjoyed it.

Live-action hopefully will be picked up by Warnerbros. I don't want to see it be thrown to 20th Century Fox. Well it wasn't as bad as people said it was for me, I don't want the live-action film to turn out like the "alternate reality" storyline for Dragonball.

Please.

No Dark Horse style.

Oh cmon what was wrong with 300 and Watchmen?

I mean, other than 300 was a gay porno (manthong! HUGH!) and Watchmen was just completely over the top?

Oh, and I kinda expect an ME film to be like Watchmen: Appealing to those who read the book (or for ME played they game) and scared the hell out of everyone else:whistle:.

I never saw Watchmen, but 300 sucked big time.  I went in expecting this historically accurate film about a war involving the ancient Greeks, and what I ended up seeing was an orange-tinted movie that was completely over-the-top.   I was too distracted by the ridiculous body piercings to pay any attention to what was going on.

It wasn't based on history, (there's a lot fo disputed facts about the actual indicent anyway) it was based on a Frank Millar graphic novel, which it resembles very closely.

The important thing to remember is, a live action movie is going to have a hard time getting made. You say video game in hollywood and history dictates that you aren't going to get a lot of cash thrown at you because of poor returns. Hopefully the strength of the source material will speak for itself and if sold right can get the budget it needs to be done properly without any studio "tweaking".

There's no confirmed facts about this film, no cast, no plot, nothing. I sincerly hope it IS about Shepard because it's a very strong story and avoiding it just so some screaming fans don't say the usual "that's not how I did it, this movie sucks", ME is MY adventure, blah, blah" nonsense would be a mistake.

IF it ever turns into a hollywood blockbuster, we can discuss it at length then in the meantime posting on these boards will not influence it in any way. If our opinion on film making was worth anything we'd work in the film industry now woudln't we?

In terms of the live action movie (which in-development really means nothing in terms of actually getting made)  it certainly could be a story outside the game, but it will almost certainly be with Shepard and squad.  You just wouldn't be able to get the funding to work on brand new characters and to take that chance that it won't work out.  I mean studios put out more crappy sequels than take a chance on anything new.  The anime could have new or tangential characters, but the live action is going to be Shepard and friends, if not actually just following the Shepard story as in the game.

Im not worried about the live action one but as long as the anime one runs along the lines of the Final Fantasy movies, then Im on board... so long as the story isnt stupid.
Also, Will either movie be released in theatres or will they be released in stores like Halo Legends?

Uwe Boll? Shoot, man. Just keep Paul W. S. Anderson at least 500 miles away from the Mass Effect film at all times. As a fan of the Resident Evil (1, 2, 3, Code Veronica X) games, I hated the live action RE movies. Hated them.

On the off-chance that the live action Mass Effect film is released and it's actually good, I'll be glad about the mainstream publicity.  It seems like none of my friends play the same games that I do, so I don't have many people to talk about Mass Effect with.

The live action one will probably have a theatrical run, since they would sink a lot of money into that one. The anime is probably going straight to stores unless they manage to get SyFy or Adult Swim to air it.

the anime could be interesting, i am definitely willing to give it a try. I liked the books and the comic was alright, though only as a prequel to ME2. I am not interested in the movie however, i have seen too many bad movies based on games. Besides, they are probably just gonna retell the story instead of actually adding something to the story and universe like the novels. Basically, movies based on games is never made for the fans... and if they are, it's an insult.
