Honestly, though, my hope is just that Mansell builds on the good. Some leitmotifs, like Tali's, are really really good, and I think he can do a lot with them with his considerable skills (to say the least!).

For the music of the final battle or climax, this is what I would pick; Adagio in D Minor/Surface of The Sun by John Murphy. This track of music is to me. . . indescribable. It's epic, it's emotional, it's intense yet at the same time lacks any kind of loudness to it. It'd be perfect to be used similarly to The End Run in Mass Effect 2.
For a gut-wrenching choice, perhaps the most important or personal in the game, I would pick Watch The World Burn by Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard. This one is a real nail biter, would be perfect if it's something like a team member being indoctrinated.

Cannot wait to hear what Clint Mansell has been up to with his strings!
If you've seen the part 2 walkthrough on Gametrailers, one of Clint's work is during the kid scene (the piano), beautiful stuff I might add. I can't wait to hear his stuff

Thank you for that, love that piece.
They were just simple chords, but they can be very powerful. That scene is the plain but brutal reality of the final installment, and tugs at my heart strings.spiros9110 wrote...

I'm lovin the varying interpretations so far. I got a kick out of James' "Justice" choice for Samara
I haven't really thought about it so I'll continue to add, but here are a few random associations off the top of my head.
Grunt - Don't Stop Me Now
TIM - Jerk-off
Tali - Solar Flower
Garrus - Trial of Archangel
For the child we couldn't help, and the hopelessness of the intro to ME3 - Prayer for the Innocent
For the galaxy we could only save through hardship and sacrifice, the ending of ME3 - Time

When did Jon Snow come into this? I mean, he is cool, but how is he relevant to this thread? Am I missing something?

I don't have music for every character or every major plot point. This is what I have thus far, mostly rock with some orchestral stuff too:

You sir, got a god-aweful taste in music.
Also, Within Temptation... are you perhaps a Dutchy (like me)? ;-)
Anyway, here is something I wish to hear when the reapers are defeated and everything is over: Surface of the Sun
Seriously, Sunshine had the most beautiful OST. If ME3's OST is going to sound like this (or at least the ending song) I'm going to be super happy.
Also, since Clint Mansell is producing the music for Mass Effect 3, I guess we can expect music like this for epic battles against the reapers.

I trust Mansell will do the right thing. He made the DOOM (movie) score and while that movies sucked-ass, his score for that movie was f-ing awesome!
Just check this out.
And this one.
And this one too.
