This is about the 4th thread on gamepads in the last few days. Shows that people would like the option.

Im all for it aslong as the PC UI and controls dont suffer (ME2 didnt have gamepad support and the controls sucked...no mousewheel support, double clicking etc) so the argument that gamepad support would be bad for the PC controls is moot.
A simple option to toggle from M+K PC UI to gamepad+console UI is all thats needed imo.

PC gaming allows us many options. Limiting those options is a detriment to pc gaming.

Like many others i would like to occasionally sit back and relax using a gamepad rather than sitting close over the K+M. Also people who only have a laptop may want to play using a gamepad too. So many scenarios.
Doesnt mean gamepads are better as its all personal preferance in the end.

I dont see it being too much to ask just for the option as most multi-platfrom games have the gamepad option now.

Agree.

Here is a reason you won't see the controller option implemented for the PC game:
Why play the game on a console when you could connect your computer to the TV and use a controller to play it? You get better quality with the same ammount of "comfort" of a controller. That's bad for business and makes the console release inferior to the PC release. Thus it will never happen.

That's a horrible reason. What difference to Bioware does it make if it sells on the 360, PS3 or PC? If anything, they rather PC since they get a bigger slice of the pie? How is that bad business? Like I said, nearly every multiplat has this feature for years now.

My personal oppinion is that I would much rather the dev team spend as
much time to tweak and adjust the K&M controlls on the PC version
for the best performance rather then switch to meaningless addition of a
controller.

Yet they have more than enough time to implement Kinect support for one platform...

Anything else?

You think that it's a horrible reason, from a marketing standpoint I think that it is o good reason. If they wanted to focus on PC more then the Platform then they wouldn't introduce all that Kinect crap for the 360.

Hows it a good marketing standpoint? Honestly, what reason would they have to want the 360 version or just a consoe version to sell more? There is none. That's why it's a horrible reason to think that Bioware or EA care if one is more popular than the other. But from a the standpoint of busness decisions, they take a bigger cut from PC versions, especially when it's bought straight from them from Origin.
The Kinect feature on the 360 is simply to pull in a bigger audience who have Kinect.
Plus the likes of MS (and Sony) are known to badger devs and publishers alike into implementing their motion controls. But that's beside the point.

Siven80 summaries this thread nicely.
Pointless to argue any further imo.B)

That's all we want, options. The PC is the pinnacle of options and customization for each and every gamer. Be it playing with a K&M up close from monitor/PC set up to playing from the couch on a tv with a controller with the benefits of superior graphics and so on.
PC has moved beyond being this smaller niche market and has really grown into a mainstream choice now.

Limiting it to one device takes away from that. Especially in a time when this level of customisation has become standard in the industry. Skyrim, Batman AC, AC Revelations, Deus Ex and many, many more coming will have this support.

Hell, when Bioshock 2 didn't have it, people went nuts, showing that controller support is a very popular feature these days.

It's time for Bioware to accept this.

I would love very much to be able to use a controller.

I only recently got into PC games and it doesn't make any sense to me for games on the 360 as well, not to support a controller.

The Last Remnant... Controller support
Borderlands... Controller support
Crysis 2... Controller Support

I'd kind of understand if the game was being made for PC and PC only, but it's not so the way I see it there should be no excuse.

That is it though the PC version of Mass Effect is made for the PC only.  The PC version has an interface and mechanics specifically geared towards playing the game with a mouse and keyboard just like the 360/PS3 has an interface and mechanics specifically geared towards playing the game with a joypad.

Now Bioware have said this time and time again in the DA 2 topic the PC version of their games are primarily aimed at mouse and keyboard play.  Yes they could just "enable" joypad control but in their view it would fall "below" their quality standards to do that.  In an ideal world you would get an interface and game balancing for both joypad and keyboard/mouse usage.  But we do not live in an ideal world and catering for two control interfaces is an expensive proposition.

As a mouse and keyboard gamer I personally find it refreshing to see a developer showing commitment to the PC's native control scheme and I would much rather they spent time improving the mouse and keyboard control.

No, it just shows that there have been 4 people who dont bother looking for a pre-existing thread.

Except that with DA2 it was understandable since gameplay was vastly different on both platforms. I've played ME2 on the PC and 360 and apart from minor differences, it was pretty much the same experience except that with the controller, I was a lot more comfortable on my couch with my tv.
