Show where Casey Hudson or anyone explicitly said that there would be no multiplayer in Mass 3. You can't.

And this gives me hope. I honestly am annoyed with stupid (yes, I simply call you stupid people) people who for some absolutely unknown reason are against any kind of multiplayer in Mass Effect, it would be a great addition to the franchise and a way to make the game even more replayable.

The problem with multiplayer is that it takes up resources that should be put into the single player aspects.

That, unfortunately, doesn't confirm a thing. It says that they're focused on the best single player experience... but never makes any mention of multiplayer.

He says NOTHING about multiplayer in that tweet, all he says is that the team is focused on the best single player experience.  How can you not see that is him answering the question without actually answering the question ?  All Bioware has to do is say "there will be no MP in ME 3", that is it.  But that isn't going to happen so you have to wonder why are they being so "vagued" in their responses.

the point is it just shows were the series has gone and what ea's intentions are. they want to tap into the massive cod online shooter base which will ineviabtly hamper the the single player

we get me1, then ea buys bioware and we get me2 and da2, then me3 gets multiplayer ??? (if it does) just shows you

I have no bias on ME3 having MP or being a SP. I've played both and have had fun playing them. The Mass Effect trilogy was developed as an RPG game, as stated by the ME team several times. They got a lot of fire about how the changes in ME2 took away from the RPG aspect of the game. For ME3, they want to bring the RPG feel back into the game. If they are steering away from Co-op/MP for ME3, its probably because they feel it'll drive the game in the direction of being a Shooter over an RPG.

Isn't Co-op the same as LAN (local area network) back in the day? I mean, this would mean that4 people could meet online, or at home, and play the game together. And remember that the old Baldur's Gate games also had multiplayer (of sorts) - did this take anything away from the singleplayer experience?

Isn't this just (if it indeed is true) so that 4 people can get together and play the game, either over the internet or at one of their homes with the consoles or pcs being placed there?

I have played both too, but it's not a question of having fun. It's question what kind of game ME is and what it cause as side effects. Do you think that adding MP doesn't affect single player side at all.

Co-op isn't the same as LAN. LAN means local area network. You can play vs. or co-op over LAN, same as you can over WAN.

Who knows if it took anything from the singleplayer experience, maybe it could have been better had they not added the multiplayer component. I want this to stay a singleplayer game.

Yeah, I'm shutting up now. Not about to involve myself in a thread that will probably have a back and forth debate over the infamous topic of MP in ME

I am not going to argue it, because it has been pointed out a million times, but multiplayer in ME3 is a terrible idea. Not only are you taking away resoucres from the final part of a trilogy, it was a single player trilogy. Save the multiplayer for Mass Effect Wars or World of Mass Effect because we all know that they are going to milk it.

This is another on the fence quote. They always say stuff like "we haven't talked about multiplayer" or "we are focusing on singleplayer". This gives the developer leg room to say "hey, I didn't say that". If they don't want these threads, just say yes or no. There is no need to make some earthshattering anouncement.

This is the kind of interpretation that started this whole "Bioware confirmed no multiplayer" mess.

He's been closing threads that mention multiplayer. A lot of people were complaining about it, so looks like he's going to calm it down a bit. I doubt Priestly will say anything though. It's best just to wait.

Er
Fake? Are you guys sure? I just saw the new on Hard News

I don't really know what to think, as long as single player is not affected, I don't care either with or without multiplayer.

Not saying that it isn't fake, but they're just recirculating the same initial rumor.

I know, he's locked multiple threads of mine. (I was hurt with my later thread, it was supposed to be a ME multiplayer discussion (but with ME3 as well) and it was published all weirdly and I was fixing it and I couldn't edit cuz it was already locked...QQ)  It's just odd seeing him not taking action now. Priestly has messaged me that it was just a rumor when my other thread was locked.

ROFL!

I'd say you should have a career in PR, but you'd be terrible at it!

Let me quote that for people:

Casey Hudson twittered...

Like Ray said, we evaluate lots of tech/designs but as you saw at E3 we're focused on the best SP experience in the series.

So in fact he's SPECIFICALLY AVOIDING say that they don't have MP - which, together with the lack of a shutdown on this thread from Chris Priestley, pretty much confirms it.

To be honest I have got to the point where I am more or less past caring.  They are going to probably put MP into the game whether the loyal fans want it or not, they are not going to tell us till they are ready to tell us.  So really these threads are a tad bit pointless.

I usually never bother buying games that feature multiplayer till they hit bargin bin prices.  I just have zero interest in multiplayer so fail to see why I should pay the full price of a game that has it.  With Mass Effect 3 I will make an exception this once simply because I wish to finish Shepards story.

posted in in a thread that got lockdowned
myself like most of you on here have been hearing rumors of ME3 multiplayer, and some have posted links with their concerns about it.
well they are not going away, theres a thread with a link here if you want a peek and now to what is worrying me.

well i'v just read more posts today and followed the links when javier gave up locking threads, and what i saw made my heart sink,

these rumors are ringing true, add that to the fact that bioware hasnt dissmissed them.

they havnt even got chris to post on here to say they arnt true. i dont know how many of you like me dont like multi players that much. i love the me series i loved the fact that they kept it single player.

i fear that they are going to be making us play online even if we dont mean to,
i know that this is not their intension but its what will happen. i know this from the fable seires they force you to play online(remember fable 3 that xbox live deamon door inthe mistpeek vally? what about the achievments to marry another players char?).
im really really hoping that bioware arnt making ME3 mulitplayer. the chances are hight that afterME3 there will be a ME MMO which i wont be getting as i hate playing with other people you just cant do your own thing i hate having to relie on other people as well i hate it when other people steal your kills i most of all i that when another player is ina funny mood they start attacking you but most of all i hate hearing the micophones! i know a lot of do use micophones and im sorry but that is why i play single player games!
thankyou for lisening to me moaning, i would love to hear your views as on this as well
EDIT ad this rumored multie player to this kinect they are doing its all got to be taken out of somewhre hasnt it?

Everyone needs to face facts: ME3 will have some sort of MP/Co-op mode attached to it.

It doesnt NEED one, but its gonna get one for one reason only: MONEY.

And no, they arent trying to "steal" people from COD/Halo/GoW...thats ridiculous. They are doing it because ALOT of gamers today EXPECT games to have a MP component to it. the days of Single player games are quickly becoming a thing of the past.

Its pointless because after ME3 they could come up with whatever MP game they want to place in the vast ME universe, and it could be pretty awesome, but they cant wait for that, they need to boost the sales of ME3 instead of keeping it faithful to the trilogy they created.

Dead Space's SP didn't suffer from the MP, most people just didn't play it. EA's got enough people to let ME3's team focus on SP, and just have another team focus on the MP portion.
