Everyone needs to face facts: ME3 will have some sort of MP/Co-op mode attached to it.

It doesnt NEED one, but its gonna get one for one reason only: MONEY.

And no, they arent trying to "steal" people from COD/Halo/GoW...thats ridiculous. They are doing it because ALOT of gamers today EXPECT games to have a MP component to it. the days of Single player games are quickly becoming a thing of the past.

Its pointless because after ME3 they could come up with whatever MP game they want to place in the vast ME universe, and it could be pretty awesome, but they cant wait for that, they need to boost the sales of ME3 instead of keeping it faithful to the trilogy they created.

hmmm yeah but you dont see bethesda selling out with the elder scrolls and fallout tho do you?Posted Image

Yeah he's been going a little extreme lately.  As for Priestly, he always says that. He said that when people speculated about Legion being a squaddie. We all know how that turned out.

While I agree with you on the existence of multiplayer in the third game, I do not agree with you about the motivation behind it. A lot of gamers don't necessarily want to have multiplayer in their games. It's a common misconception. Some people, like me, appreciate a balance of games with multiplayer, and games with good stories. When everyone starts to cut story for multiplayer, it tends to get repetitive. EA wants multiplayer because they want the CoD crowd. Bioware even said that themselves. Check it out here.

Perhaps, but as this is the conclusion of a trilogy, this is the wrong time to implement half-assed features. This is intended as the epic conclusion to Bioware's space opera. I'd rather have every resource devoted to making the single-player (which Bioware is most noted for) as incredible as possible.

Edit: This is not to say that I even buy into this idea that Mass Effect 3 will have multiplayer.

Are you sure about this?

I played last 10 years of mmorpgs and stoped few years ago, because there wasn't anything in them at all for me anymore. Returned back to single player games. Why? Because they offered something what mmorpgs could not do.

Its pointless because after ME3 they could come up with whatever MP game they want to place in the vast ME universe, and it could be pretty awesome, but they cant wait for that, they need to boost the sales of ME3 instead of keeping it faithful to the trilogy they created.

I have always respected Bioware because they seemed to be one of the few gaming companies focusing on great storytelling and gaming combined. For me, great storytelling means a singleplayer game...

My respect for Bioware, did decline with the release of a recent game I dare not mention, however if Bioware implement multiplayer in ME3, I might just give up...
I just would not make sense to end this trilogy with a sudden multiplayer feature - at least make a spin off to the franchise, that can focus on multiplayer instead of wasting energy on this in ME3

This. 100% this.

BioWare is no longer a day 1 buy for me if they confirm multiplayer.

Dead Space 2 was also six hours long. Not saying that multiplayer will reduce ME3 to 6 hours, but it certainly decreased Dead Spcae by a few hours.

I don't want to support them. If they put MP in ME3 I'm just gonna borrow it from a friend if they buy it or just watch someone stream it. Considering how bad DA2 was I'm gonna wait for reviews and patches before I buy it, if I buy it.

I've got no beef with the concept.

Several short stories that you can play through with your buddies, letting you see the war from different perspectives. Sounds good.

I don't want to see any PvP multiplayer though, I find it pretty boring and it would be dead within a couple of months anyway.

I belive DA2 was a different Bioware team i coud be wrong but still. I dont see how MP takes away from the story experiance from what i assume you like about it.its your right not to get it obversely.

I rather there be no multiplayer. I'm sick of games that don't need multiplayer getting it.

I think ME is actually the best time for them to introduce multiplayer. If they come out with a dedicated multiplayer game they WILL be directly competing with Halo and COD. With it coming out it is perceived as giving extended replayability to a singleplayer game. There is definitely some interest for multiplayer. It's up to Bioware to make the multiplayer as polished as the singleplayer.

Its not what BioWare says, its what they DONT say. They are more then happy to talk about the Gameplay of ME3, but when pressed on MP questions, they have been cryptic and vague. Its not that hard to just come out and flat out tell everyone "there will be NO MP/Co-op in ME3."

Connection between MP and money is simple: MP will attract more people to purchase the game who probably havent tried ME1 or 2,  more people buying = more money. They already know they will have a customer base of people who have purchased ME 1 and/or ME2, but those people did so for the single player experience, the best way to increase sales is to go after another demographic, the most popular on consoles: MP FPS crowd.

Im not saying that people will stop buying SP games, or that they arent great (i love SP RPGs), im just suggesting that adding MP to a SP game is the trend now, and will continue so long as it makes them money. Look at Assassin's Creed, Portal, GTA, Bioshock or Fable for examples of games that started out as SP but recently added MP/Co-Op in recent sequels

I could be wrong, but ill be surprised if ME3 has no MP/Co-op to it, until BW flat out denies the rumors and the game ships.

You can beat Dead Space in 6 hours, but you have to rush and skip cutscenes, etc. I hate when people try to sweeten their argument by including half-truths. By this logic, Mass Effect 2 only lasted 10 hours right? Thats how long it would take to beat the game if you skipped all side missions and cutscenes. No an accurate representation.

Your logic is flawed. A separate team altogether made DS's MP. The game came on 3 discs... would you have preferred 4? 6? You get out of games what you put in. People complain too much about games being short when they skip the "optional" content.

Co-op can be done well in normally single-player experiences.

Look at Portal 2.

I don't know if I have faith in Bioware to pull that sort of thing off, though.

Let me get this straight.

First it was squadmates and variables.

Next it was Ashley's catsuit.

Then it was fighting Cerberus.

After that it was same-sex relationships.

Following that it was RPG elements.

Now it's multiplayer? WHICH THEY ALREADY DENIED IN GAME INFORMER AND TWITTER?

Is there anything our forums can't complain about? What's next, the fact that everything's in English?

There are other assumptions too to make. Example they have had difficulties to design how MP would work in ME3. So, they stay quiet because they aren't sure if they get it work or not. So, they can't confirm one way or other.

Connection between MP and money is simple: MP will attract more people to purchase the game who probably havent tried ME1 or 2,  more people buying = more money. Sure, valid point, but here is other assumtion, just fun of it.  Have you also consider people who sees MP feature in RPG box and deside not to take the game, because so many of us had experience how it cuts of the SP game lenght and quality. So, lost money...

Im not saying that people will stop buying SP games, or that they arent great (i love SP RPGs), im just suggesting that adding MP to a SP game is the trend now, and will continue so long as it makes them money. There honestly should be a dev tracker on this forums because I'm too bussy to be bothered to find those... but all you stupid people arguing that making multiplayer takes away resources should first check out whatever BioWare people have to say about features taking resources for other features... stupid people. Multiplayers can be done by separate studios.
