Its not what BioWare says, its what they DONT say. They are more then happy to talk about the Gameplay of ME3, but when pressed on MP questions, they have been cryptic and vague. Its not that hard to just come out and flat out tell everyone "there will be NO MP/Co-op in ME3."
There are other assumptions too to make. Example they have had difficulties to design how MP would work in ME3. So, they stay quiet because they aren't sure if they get it work or not. So, they can't confirm one way or other.
Connection between MP and money is simple: MP will attract more people to purchase the game who probably havent tried ME1 or 2, more people buying = more money. They already know they will have a customer base of people who have purchased ME 1 and/or ME2, but those people did so for the single player experience, the best way to increase sales is to go after another demographic, the most popular on consoles: MP FPS crowd.
Sure, valid point, but here is other assumtion, just fun of it. Have you also consider people who sees MP feature in RPG box and deside not to take the game, because so many of us had experience how it cuts of the SP game lenght and quality. So, lost money...
Im not saying that people will stop buying SP games, or that they arent great (i love SP RPGs), im just suggesting that adding MP to a SP game is the trend now, and will continue so long as it makes them money. Look at Assassin's Creed, Portal, GTA, Bioshock or Fable for examples of games that started out as SP but recently added MP/Co-Op in recent sequels
You could be right about it been trent, but I did not buy any of those games, nor have I plan to buy them.
