This goes back to my theory on the redesign of the elves in DA 2, they made them soooo ugly because they didn't want players to miss being able to play as them. And dwarves are practically non-existant so that they are mostly forgotten. Might as well just call it Human Age from now on.

I've never liked dwarves. Varric was okay, I guess-- he wasn't as much of a joke as every other one-- but I disliked him for a host of other reasons. So I'm actually glad they're moving away from including them.

I want to play a qunari mage in DA3 (with the caveat that the rest of the game has to actually be good; otherwise, no thanks).

It would be awesome if when playing a qunari mage you were mostly unable to comunicate for the entire game. Like a low inteligence character in Fallout. Lol!

We could play dragons in Origins? Awesome! How did I miss that?

That sure would resolve the voice over acting problem. ;) (j/k a Qunari/Tal Vashoth mage would be nice indeed).

I want different backgrounds. Not necessarily races, just backgrounds, although races would be delightful but I understand the limitations. And I want to play them. And I want them to have an impact on the rest of the story, even a small one, so I may have tons of different playthroughs. And... that is all.

But if we have to play Hawke, then so be it. I like my Hawkes.

What I don't want, though, is my PC to have an overdone French accent if s/he's Orlesian. Please.

some what unusually i'm going to be optimistic and say i think that will reintroduce race selection to some degree which in my opinion would be a good thing

i cant imagine they will use hawke after dlc given how unpopular the character seems to be

I suspect it will be Hawke again after Laidlaw said they had plans for her.

Two Reasons not to buy DAIII then...

Hawke Returning and Not being able to play as a Dwarf.

They've said it before DA2 even came out: something to the effect of how they want to tell the story of a different hero in a different setting with each release.

As far as Gaider's quote saying hawke's story isn't over or whatever, I think he's referring to the beligerent amount of DLC we'll recieve until DA3 comes out.

(which will hopefully be years away)

In a Dragon Age II interview with Eurogamer, lead designer Mike Laidlaw said the developer had "ideas" for a sequel and protagonist Hawke.

That could be a refreshing loophole to the forced voiced protagonist. Image IPB

I didn't even think of that, actually. That would be a nice return.

Sorry to disappoint you.

The only thing I recall Mr. Gaider saying was Morrigan's story was not over yet. This was awhile back before Da2 came out when people were upset not continuing with the warden so those that romanced her could find out what happened. I had thought WH was supposed to fill in some blanks but from what people said it made more questions than it gave answers. (shrug)

I remember that article, though I'm reading the interview with Mike Laidlaw right now and I don't see him making a mention of a sequel involving Hawke.

But Jesus..... in a game series that's not supposed to be centered around one character all the time, you don't bring back one character for a sequel. Unless that character isn't the playable character and is just an added thing.

Like if we saw an 45 year old Hawke teaching his children how to be a mage in flashbacks. That's fine. Bringing Hawke back as the main character? Big no no.

I think Mike just said it as in not part of the interview which is why it was mentioned. Or the interviewers love hawke and it's wishful thinking?

If it was off the record and not part of the interview itself, then it's supposed to stay that way and not be mentioned....

I think.

At any rate I just read the entire article and nowhere did he say anything about a sequel. So why people are saying that he actually did say it just because a Eurogamer article says so without actual evidence is beyond me.

I assume for some people it's just so they can hate Mike Laidlaw even more.

Perhaps they're referring to them as two seperate ideas.

How much of these online articles are factual anyhow? There are some comments that make me go hmm and one that has me groaning -I can't believe Mike said that!.

That's what I gathered from it too. But I just know some people will act like it means "sequel for Hawke".

But maybe Mike's ideas for Hawke are that Hawke will be pro-active! Yay!

Meh. Don't care. I like humans just fine. Fixed elf protagonist? No prob. Dwarf? Sure, whatevs.

If race selection is in, it's in. If not, big deal... I'd much rather have at least a few different origins, even if the race is fixed.
