It seems like everyone but Shepard and his/her crew are indoctrinated when they get near anything even remotely related to the Reapers.

Shepard's been near Sovereign, various artifacts that indoctrinated/huskified everyone else nearby, and spent a  lovely evening battling his/her way through a derelict Reaper.  Not to mention taking a two day nap near Object Rho, which fried the brains of everyone else in the base.

I am guessing that Shepard and company are going to spend a good portion of Mass Effect 3 in close proximity
to hundreds if not thousands of Reapers.  Their brains should be pudding by the end of the game!

It would be cool if there were some levels with time limits in ME3 where you had to finish the level or escape an area before the indoctrination process reaches a critical point.

You could begin to hear voices and hallucinate more and more as the timer got closer to zero.

Tin foil hats.

And the process of indoctrination takes months, so timed levels don't really make sense.

They have a limited hard drive....they couldn't possibly have the power or energy to indoctrinate everyone so that's a bit of an overstep.

One must surround him/her/itself with an ash circle.

An "indoctrination time limit" would be a far less plot-warping gameplay element than heat sinks.

Seriously, if they are universal than how come if I run out of ones for my sniper rifle, I can't use the ones for my pistol instead?

Didn't that asari on Virmire say that by the time you start noticing indoctrination effects it's already too late? And I also remember it being said that indoctrination can take years to take effect, forming sleeper agents but it can also be sped up considerably and taking full control in hours/minutes.

I believe Rana on Virmire said it takes a few days on constant exposure before you're finally indoctrinated. But there are varying levels of indoctrination, from subtle suggestions to total control. And once you're indoctrinated, your mind is gone forever.

I'm worried not so much about Shepard and company being indoctrinated, but what is going to happen to Earth? Hundreds if not thousands of Reapers with their indoctrination fields is going to leave the survivors (if Shepard can actually save Earth) mentally defunct.

Unless BioWare introduces a magical plot device to save them.

Seems like they had plenty of time to brainwash Shepard after Object Rho literally knocked him out with a "brain blast" of some sort.

Indeed the Reapers can speed up the process, but it results in mental degredation.

I imagine the Reapers would want Shepard to have his wits about him, he would be a useful tool.

So everyone aboard Normandy could already be indoctrinated by Sovereign parts that are installed in EDI's hardware?

I'm sure they would prefer to take the risk of mentally degrading Shepard, if it meant not having him constantly foiling their plans!

He does have a habit of doing that.

I wonder if the effects are amplified by the presence of multiple reapers?

That might explain who the sniper was shooting at in the teaser trailer, unless it was just a husk.

I don't think being within range of a thousand indoctrination fields at once would be very good for your brain.

If I remember right, Benezia and Rana said that the process is slow. It starts off like an itch/whisper in the back of your head and by the time noticeable effects are seen its too late.

 This might help :)

Perhaps Conrad Verner is immune, so the Alliance breed an army of clones to defeat the Reapers.

It would appear indoctrination doesn't have a cumulative affect on the mind. One must exposed day and night to a Reaper or a Reaper artifact to become fully indoctrinated.
