So is it wise for BW to be putting supposed time &resources into other extra things or is it a potential downfall?
Also, before anyone says it, Yes I know it hasn't been officially confirmed yet, but we all know how many "rumors" float around the game industry that usually come true. It is only a matter of time for most (90%) rumors to be validated.

Someone who only plays MP games will go huh, what's this rumor. And then he might check out what Mass Effect is, get interested and go play it. Regardless if the rumor is true or not.

I've heard this rumor and I would not be against it. It would probably be the only way Multiplayer Mass Effect could work, short of an MMO.
I hope though you can play as custom Shepards online, as well as Party NPC's.

Either they will find a way to shoe it in(lame, would make me cancel my pre-order CE), or they will simple make a MP spin-off(much, much, MUCH better idea).
They've only said they are looking at MP in the future of the company, which covers all their bases whether MP is in ME3, or in another "future" game.

Actually I simply meant this particular rumor has had multiple threads on it...today.

-sighs- You know why I think BioWare hasn't outright confirmed that this rumor is false? Because it's Free Publicity

Kind of a smart ploy. But if it is indeed true then ME3 might turn out to be a different game entirely. Well depending on how much time and money they put into it.

If it's true, then the SP isn't getting the resources that it should.
Even though Chud has said they are working on "the best SP experience of the series" everytime someone has asked him via Twitter about co-op, MP.

Custom Sheps would be sweet, but then it wouldn't make sense. I would like it to be whoever joins someone elses game gets to play as a squaddie of their choosing while the main player plays Shep. Whatever the Suaddie gets in XP, money or items they can then bring back to their own game or something like that. Or maybe they can even create their own Shepard which can double as a squaddie under a different name in someone else's game or something. There are plenty of ways they could do it I just hope they would choose to do it after ME3. After seeing/hearing about all the other unnecessary bells and whistles they are adding to the game I am kind of getting paranoid.

"X website says this, and OUR mole also confirms it" and then the next website will quote that website with the same message, as if each "journalism" website has it's very own mole.

haha! yeah I know. He is good with words I tell you that much. I agree though. The SPC can never get as much attention and resources as it could if it were the main and only focus. But, it isn't just the MP that is bothering me. It's all of the extra stuff that isn't needed but takes more time and money than it is really worth. Next they will be saying they are working on Move support as well as an online hub of some sort, etc, etc.

Oh but they are spending more money to do it. Well unless you own stock in EA or Bioware ( I do not think Bioware is publicly traded) then who are we to tell Bioware what to do with their money. Also, Bioware wants a piece of the MP pie and in business you usually have to spend more than what you have saved (its called investing or speculating) to increase revenues and hopefully net profits.
Like someone said, it could be rumor to get the name out there and attrack people that only play MP.
Additionally, if Bioware pushes this I am sure they are going to be very carefull about it. It would be their first venture into the MP on consoles at least (correct me if I am wrong) and I am 100% that Bioware takes their reputation very very seriously.
Some one also said that it would be better to just release a spin off and I am also cool with that and I believe that if Bioware can't find a way to make MP in ME 3 successful they will release a spin off.
Lastly.. if people do not want to play co op or MP it is not mandatory. don't play it. No need to get mad about it.
The remarks mirror what executive producer Casey Hudson told us in an interview during our Mass Effect 3 cover story. "As a single-player experience, and just as a world that people want to immerse themselves in and share, we've been trying to think of a way that makes sense for people to experience Mass Effect with their friends. We haven't yet come up with a way to do that, so we don't have anything to announce at this time. But, obviously, multiplayer is something we want to do more of in the future as a company."
Cordially...
