Game was running just fine earlier this week. Installed "Genesis", started a new game, all was well. Then I bought Pinnacle Station for ME1 (edit: I still have ME1 installed as well), installed Origin to download, installed Pinnacle, and now ME2 will not run, with the AWC.dll "misconfiguration" message.

I did everything on this page, including uninstall/reinstall but I'm still getting the same error.
What went wrong? Did Origin remap something? That's the only other thing I've done to this system since last playing ME2

Yes they did, but the other gamers here can't help you, at least not based on the missing Legacy Forum files that they've had to redirect all of the URL mapping for. I suspect you'll have to take this up with EA, on their Chatline.

This workaround worked for me after I installed Mass Effect 2 with Origin and couldn't get it to run due to the AWC.dll error:

I followed the instructions in the last post of the first page uup to step 5) and since then ME2 runs flawlessly.
