I don't know why, there has been this crazy theory in the back of my head that mass effect will not end how everyone is expecting it to end. The more and more i think about it and some of the comments we have read and heard lead me to believe that the overall Reaper treat will not end in ME3, but our victory will be a major setback on them, as well to put the rest in shepards story.
I have read a few interviews now where it has been stated that ME has a bright future ahead, meaning many sequels. I know there was talks about a MMRPG of some sort, but even that has been put on the back burner.
I don't know, but a good possible out come would be that the citadel is actually one of many super massive intergalaxy points, meaning a jump from Milkyway to Andromeda and so fort, possibilities are endless really.
I know, i know, im thinking too much into this, i just cant wait till ME3..... :(

The story for Shepard is supposed to end with ME3, but they will not abandon the ME Universe. It has such a dedicated fan base. As long as they put out QUALITY games, the franchise will thrive.

I hope they learned from the DA2 fiasco.

Yeah, i know, i mean i do not think the end of the reapers is ME3 thou. Im sure they will be back, maybe to a lesser extent, but i do not think they are going to be all destroyed.

Difficult to do this since the consoles are the main platform for ME, and any games after ME3 will most likely appear on the next generation of consoles.

They may think of other ways to address this issue, but i find it more likely that the reaper threat will be over so that the ME universe is at a state where they won't need to import the number of previous player decisions into it (excepting perhaps for a few that could be made comic style similar to ME2 on PS3)

With a ten year life cycle for PS3, Kinect thriving for 360 I'd say no new consoles before 2015 at least.

I'd love to play as a non human main character, like asari, or turian.

Yeah, from what I understand, ME3 is going to be the end of the story about Shepard and the Reapers, but there is still a MASSIVE universe to explore with it. The books and comics do a good job of telling other stories in the same universe, some of the even between the events of the games, and some of them after, too. Yet none of them actually ruin the open-ended continuity of YOUR Shepard (unless you count the Udina/Anderson council thing, but that's been talked about in several threads already). It would be easy to do another person's adventure in the same world and I would definitely welcome it. Seriously, I'm hoping Mass Effect becomes the new Star Wars in terms of expansive universe/storylines, but is able to not be completely ruined by it like that series has.

One thing if all reapers are destroyed in ME3, The galaxy will be littered with advanced technology that should show up with mercs and gangs in ME4.

I said this in another thread.
Hope: ME3 will be the end of the Reaper threat.
Gut Instinct: It will be salvation of Earth, and EA will nickle and dime us with DLC to remoev the Reapers from the galaxy.
Nightmare: Reapers will only be fully destroyed in an upcoming MMO

Nightmare plus: the MMO will be done by Cryptic or Mythic.

I'd be happy with whatever they want to do with the really dense ME universe after Mass Effect 3.

BUT, I firmly believe ME3 should be the absolute end of Shepard's story.

I hope ME3 ends the reaper threat and any other games in the universe will either be set in the past (Protheans maybe) or a few centuries in the future where it doesn't matter if Wrex united the Krogans, who the first human Councilor was, or even how humanity advanced to its current position in intergalactic politics. A story set so far in the future that Shepard would just be a footnote in history like Alexander the Great is now.

I just hope they continue the series, even to the next consoles or the one console after this generation since it seems like Nintendo and Microsoft are too focused on the casual gamers to release a multi-million hardware juggernaut. I find this universe more interesting than the "dead in the water" Star Wars universe or the utopian Star Trek universe (although JJ Abrams seems to be doing a great job of reviving it).

JJ Abrams created a movie for this generation. But it was totally the antithesis of what good old Gene Rodenberry envisioned for his Star Trek universe.
Seriously, go watch the original motion picture.
Sure, the new movie was action packed, and fun. But Gene is rolling around in his grave,

What's wrong with Mythic? That's just bizarre. They made one really good game (DAoC) and one okay-but-not-as-good-as-it-could-have-been game (Warhammer Online). They also were working on an MMO before Warhammer Online which sounded a lot like Mass Effect 1 in terms of game mechanics.

Cryptic, on the other hand, have turned out piece of trash after piece of trash. It's not fair to suggest they're the same.

Bioware Austin would presumably do the MMO, anyway, as they'll have finished with SWTOR and will have a cut-down team and MMO-design experience.

The REAL nightmare is an MMO that is "WoW-style" (I remember with it was called "Diku-MUD" or "EQ-style" lol), i.e.

Auto-aiming/auto-attack.

Tank
DPS
Healer

Big fat blocks of HP that the healer has to continually restore, whack-a-mole style.

And brain-dead monsters that mindlessly follow an aggro table.

That would be literally the end of me buying Bioware products. Bad enough that they've done that to Star Wars.

The next ME series should be in the future, like a few hundred years after ME3.

Completely true in every sense of the word, but when the options are to evolve with the generations or remain stuck doing the same thing Star Trek has been doing for the past 50 years, its obvious which choice to take. There is a reason why Star Trek is nowhere near as popular as it used to be.:alien:

DAoC was filled with dev favoritism for the caster classes, just like WAR was filled with favoritism for Bright Wizards. Such favoritism and unbalancing in a PvP MMO is terrible.
It almost seems that DAoC was a success through sheer accident.

FYI I pre-ordered WAR, and played for less than 6 months of my 6-mo pre-paid sub. That game was a steaming pile of crap. I re-enlisted several times only to see that the game was still garbage.
Basically, Mythic didn't listen to any of the player feedback from pre-beta, public beta, or even after launch for over a year.
They essentially used the paying subscribers as beta testers for about 2 years.
Just look at how fast they lost subs, and how big of a loss it was from the initial launch.

You can't even enjoy the F2P model because it's filled with murderous Twinks who destroy any fun you might have in the PvP.
As for Imperator, it was going to be more like WAR40K than Mass Effect.

They should honestly just let Star Trek die.
Don't get me wrong, I like mindless explosions and action movies. Especially with cheesy one-liners and bad acting. (I grew up in the '80s) :D
But I cannot reconcile in my mind how cerebral and forward thinking the original motion picture was, and what it (the franchise) has become.
Never was a big fan of any of the TV series. I guess I'm just kinda weird like that.

Sorry for all the off topic, I am still recovering from the Canucks epic choking during game 7 of the Stanley cup playoffs.

That reason is that the last two TV series have been mediocre-to-bad, though, not that Star Trek "lacked action". I mean, look at Voyager or Enterprise. Compare it to much more successful SF series, like Stargate: SG1. Is there more action in Stargate? Not really.

Trek got less popular for a lot of reasons, but "lack of action" wasn't one of them.

I'm done with the series after 3. I think Mass Effect will become EA's new cash cow. Best to stop now.

Stargate ran out of steam. Same writers, writing the same stories, only with slightly different villians and heroes.
Large ethnic man who is good at fighting : check.

Smart character who can somehow use, fix and modify technology that is millions of years ahead of ours that has been designed by beings who are millions of years more evolved, who have superhuman intelligence, and are supposed to make us look like chimps : check

Smartass team leader : check
I could go on.

ROFL! So much anger. Yeah, no, casters were never favourites in actual RvR in DAoC, sorry mate, I actually played the game for 5+ years (from two months after release). Most of the serious groups I was in didn't even have a caster, just CC/heals and melee assist train, though I guess sometime we had a couple of PBAErs for a bomb group.

And if you think both of those were bad, I can't imagine you like the PvP in any MMO.

Mythic are still head-and-shoulders above Cryptic or in fact anyone except Blizzard, MMO-wise.

Here, Eurogamer posted a small article about this.

PS: It's nothing major. They're just stating the obvious.
