I stand by not being interested in post Mass Effect 3 games. Reapers have been set up as the be all, and for another threat to come along after that would have to be seriously corny. I mean come on what's going to replace the Reapers, moon sized machines with Odinforce?
Mass Effect 3..... 4 and beyond.

Well the Reapers are just overcooked cuttlefish with a metal crust instead of a crunchy one. They're more like bullies who puff their chest out.

I can't wait to see what BioWare does with Mass Effect. There is no way they will just abandon the Mass Effect universe.

There is so much potential for amazing stories beyond the Reapers. If you can't see it, well, more Mass Effect for me.gunswordfist wrote...

Well, i just hope that next game won't have a number in the title. 'cause it's getting FFized. The novels have good titles. I wanna see something like this in boxarts in the future.

Sometimes I really wish that certain things on these forums could be carved into everyone's head after being posted. Not... physically, of course. Poor word choice on my part, perhaps. But then...
Well anyway. I contacted Casey Hudson on twitter regarding Ray Muzyka's comment about the "bright future ahead" and he reaffirmed for me that the team is writing everything so that ME3 provides full closure to all the story arcs. He said it's 'closure in the truest sense' or something along those lines.
I really don't think it's going to end on a cliffhanger.

1. Bringing the Reapers back
2. Making up some cheesy new threat
3. There being no big threat, just you running around handling issues between different alien races.

Regarding your actions in the trilogy - It should be noted that xbox is moving to provide cloud storage for game saves and profiles. Future games in the ME universe will likely appear on next gen consoles, but if your game saves are tied to you profile in the cloud then your choices could potentially still have a meaningful impact. This = win.

There's an entire universe for Bioware to tap into. Things beyond our own galaxy we haven't even imagined yet. Besides that, I'm not certain that the reapers will be wiped out entirely. Some are bound to escape, and I can easily see future installments in the series taking place humdreds or thousands of years after ME3.
One idea could be that the reapers win, and your character awakes 50,000 years later from cryogenic sleep with what remains of humanity to warn the galaxy. Kind of a galactic insurance policy.

I believe the Shepard story line is over with ME3, but the Reaper story line will continue. I saw this Ray Muzyka quote at PCGamer.com stating that ME3 is the *beginning* of a Galactic war:
We’re exploring new types of online play. We also have some new things in the pipe we haven’t announced yet out of our Edmonton studio… We’re obviously looking at Mass Effect, Dragon Age – they’re epic franchises, and we have more things planned in the future. Mass Effect 3 is the beginning of a Galactic war. The future’s bright.

I'd be interested in seeing side-stories, or different takes on the universe as a whole. . . perhaps playing as one of the other races, taking part in some other event. Or a game focusing around the invasion of the reapers, from the eyes of those on Earth. . .
nah, most of that sounds kinda lame now that I think about it. . .
maybe they should just make a handheld game for the 3DS or sumfin
