I wonder what they would tell you if you went to the managers of the store now and told them

"uhm you guys know right that you broke street date and I could report you now?"

They would say "I make $12/hr.  Why should I ******** care?"

because no one wants to lose their job like that and have that kind of ugly mark on their references

that and also they can be fined individually I believe

that is only if they signed a contract to not release before the street release date. Most games however are sold without it, and thus it would not matter if they sold it early.

I got the standard edition and it came with one disc.

I have not installed on the hard drive but I will and update

Ju-On

I will get a screenshot up of combat

Edgew

The armor and ring were immediately available for my character when I started the game. I did download them before I started a game. I have only one character so far so I am not sure about multiples. But I will create another just to see.

The stone prisoner I believe is a recruitable or summonable npc so I have not tried that just yet.

Was this shop you bought the game at a chain or a local "mom & pop" shop that knows you? If it was a chain can you let the cat out of the bag on which one, just in case some of us also have one we can go check out?

Edit: The above question was for the OP, as well as nedaroth

Indeed, they do allow fining/filing charges against individuals now. All of the packaging materials for street dated items have warnings on them about not stocking or opening the product before the street date. If you violate this you are punishable by law now.

Not to mention most companies will fire you (usually as soon as it's reported, do not pass GO, do not collect $200) and the individual store can be levied fines up to $10,000 per item sold.

Punishable by law? Seriously there is no law against selling things early. The person that sells you the item is breaking a contract but there is no such law. Microsoft, EA etc could sue your pants off but the police has better things to do than to arrest you for playing DA a few days early bloody seriously.

I didn't mean in the get arrested, go to jail kind of way. It is considered both a breach of copyright and breach of contract, both of which are punisishable by fines and penalties, not jail time.

Microsoft or Bioware could sue the store, but not the individual. It says "Do not sell before X date" . It does not say "Do not play before X date". Once again, The people who have this game early by ways of legal means, are perfectly ok.

Maybe.  I don't see how Copyright laws would apply, but contract law is a very tangled mess (in the US).  An actual court case and a judge ruling would have to set the precedent.  The all-too-common EULA has been found to unconcionable in several cases, for example.  Different courts even disagree greatly on this issue.

The point is, it's not all cut-and-dried, and I doubt a game developer would risk public backlash, and court costs, to pursue the matter, as long as piracy was not involved.  Of course, there have been exceptions of so-called trivial lawsuits ("Edge" trademark litigation comes to mind).

Plus I believe this would have to be proven in a court of law, and I really don't think EA would bother over a few isolated incidences of this.   Whoever suggested that individuals would be fined along with the store, and so on and so forth... Be realistic.  The only time I could see a game publisher taking action against early leaks is if it was widespread, garnering a profit (ie- racketeering), or leaking a beta/press copy of the game.

Selling it 2-3 days early at a large retail company like Gamestop or Best Buy is not going to bring EA's lawyers down on your head.

You can backstab using a bow.

I didn't get the radial menu during combat at first but now it seems pretty natural and you get used to it.

Also, using the hotkey buttons was weird at first but now seems pretty natural too.

Also, you do not play like an action rpg. I thought so at first because during combat everything is hectic and my instinct was to pick an enemy and smash the attack button and hotkeys. This is definitely not the case. You can just pick an enemy and your character will auto attack until the enemy is dead or you choose a different enemy. Then you can use the hotkeys to do special attacks.

Plus, giving tactics to your party members is VERY detailed, well thought out and VERY helpful. I would probably be manually controlling each party member on the PC version but this one feels good by just handing out tactics and controlling your character.

This is the standard view during combat:

Image IPB

It is third person but even with the radial menu open, you can swing the camera around to view the area at any direction.
