We were told it was in the game, but that it didn't work the way we might expect.

But it was not in the game at all. I remember him saying it wouldn't zoom as far out. That's what sated my curiosity. "Oh, it's there but it doesn't go as far back. That's ok." But it's not there. In anyway. There is no tactical camera in this game. There is an over the shoulder camera and only and over the shoulder camera. It just happens to zoom back farther than in some other games. I view that as being lied to.

You've conveniently snipped the rest of Sylvius's post which explains that what Mike said was that it was in the game at the time he was writing, but could be removed before launch.

Yes, DAII's camera is really bad. But we weren't promised anything, and we weren't lied to.

No, I'm saying that Mike said it would be in the game. He described it to us. I talked about how he described it to us. And it wasn't there. It was just a farther-away over-the-shoulder-camera.

Do you have a quote or source?

Everything I have seen is that Mike feels a tactical camera to be important, that they were testing it out, but there was no guarantee that it would be within the game. No promises, no lies.

Biodrones will probably eat anything up. I don't even care at this point. Game sucks, but there's always the Witcher & CDProjekt.

Cool. Go play their games then. :)

I'm precisely sure I never, nor have I any intention of asking you what I should do on my own time and when.

That conversation was with me. It wasn't something I witnessed second hand. I suppose you could accuse me of lying about it, but short of searching out the actual quotes (which I am admitedly just too lazy to go through the effort for) there's really nothing else I can do to reassure you.

I don't think you're lying. But I do think you're misinterpreting what was said. So, unless you want to find the quote where Mr. Laidlaw said "It will be in the game" as opposed to "it's in the game now, but things could change," then you're on really thin ice :-/

He said there would be some type of camera other than the top-down view at a certain point in development. He lied.

I think I've already said enough about him, but I still wish to repeat one more thing: The only thing good about the man, is his beard.

Just offering something that would surely make you happier than spouting random "hate" comments on BSN. You do what you want. :wizard:

If I recall correctly there is another camera other than the "top-down view" and for me it zooms out almost as far as the tactical camera. But that's on my PC, might be different for others.

That conversation was with you, in that thread, all with the implicit caveat that that was the current state of things, subject to change, given his initial post on the issue. Unless you mean to say you had a PM conversation with him about it... he never promised the tactical detached camera would be in the game.

No, that's not what he promised. The question about the detachable tactical camera was specifically put forward and his response was regarding what would be in the game which I talked about above. The entire tone of the exchange was a reassurance on his part to us in that we would get what we viewed to be of paramount importance to the game.

If you want to raise the "caveat that things could change" card on this, I'll counter that his implication was that things would only go in a direction that we viewed as better. Because his entire tone on the issue was of the "I want you to feel the game will have what you want" while we were not in the slightest way ambiguous about what we wanted in the camera.

The point of the post itself was to be reassuring, the point of the caveat at the end was a reminder that the reassurances may end up being empty since there may be unexpected complications or what-have-you. Which, I suppose there were. It wouldn't be a very powerful caveat if it didn't have the possibility to negate anything he said.

We go with the cutest feedback. :)

Well, golly gee, gorgeous Bio-babes. Can I just say that I love this game more than candy and ice cream and candy flavoured ice cream?

If you could just fix one thing for me, pwease. I love how the new camera lets us get up close and personal with the action and how Winter's Grasp has the tiniest, sweetest little AoE. Like, I love it more than, um, puppies and rainbows and puppies named Rainbow. But (because of the lack of higher view) Merrill keeps freezing herself. So, bring back the tactical camera, pwease.

Image IPB

Thankyou and hugz in advance.

Image IPB

(OK, I'm genuinely terrible at "cute" but I tried. Plz bring back higher camera.)

Posting a picture of a man humping a tree woman from behind is no way to get Bioware to listen.

Oh noes. That was one of the most, cutest moments in gaming's history. Now look what you've done.

^ Well, where's the irony in that?

But, I suppose, if I should actually address the issue... I'm pretty sure "cute" feedback would get a better response than much of the nasty feedback I've seen, in that they might actually be more inclined to "listen." And humour is always a good icebreaker, too. I think fan feedback is really important. It's also a critical aspect of gaming culture. It makes me sad to see discourse on gaming take an ugly turn, especially with gamers turning on each other.

I think it's great that BioWare are listening. I have no idea how they actually use feedback or filter out the negativity, but they're a smart bunch and I'm sure we'll see something interesting next.

Making great games costs time and money, EA isn't interested in that.

They'll do/say just enough to lure naive folks into thinking they're getting gold.(imo)

I agree.

But with TW2 been hearing it cost around 8-10 million dollars to make, a fraction of what an EA title costs, and for that money we got a pretty ****ing good game.

Maybe they spend way too much on marketing and should just spend it on the game and let its awesomeness market itself. Unfortunately everyone thinks this is ridiculous because marketers, wily as they are, are also good at marketing themselves and how necessary they are.

I hope the reason for this lack of DLC and DLC announcements is because they're working hard at perfecting, and possibly patching, the DA2 experience so the more hardcore fans of DA:O can be appeased.

It would be a hell of a big patch, but one can only hope.

I bet they're busy with summer vacation, bbq's, swimming and lots of beer. By July/August they'll go 'Oh ****. The DLC" and whip something out in a week.

Basically I'm saying we'll see it by september. ^-^

I gotta say, I admire the time and energy a lot of you have put into this discussion as well as others, and I'm being serious here as well a complimentary. I cannot possibly imagine how anyone finds the time for such lengthy, second-to-second-posting conversation on a lot of topics here in this thread. Is it the passion for/against DA2? I seriously can't keep up at all, even with posts I want to respond to .

Makes me wish I had more time and energy for it, but all I can manage in a day is one or two posts per thread in about maybe 3-4 threads max.

Thankfully most, if not all, of my opinions are represented here.

I have to say it im very very very disappointed by bioware..After the DA2 pr talking lies they keep to lie calling innovative the game.. But per se the game don't have nothing innovative...

Sure it did, just cause you didn't like it doesn't mean they didn't introduce some innovations which have been well and truly documented by now. It is possible to dislike something which is innovative.

Utter ****e, you spout stuff like this it makes you like like you haven't played either.

Monica83 wrote...

the only innovation that this.... hemm.. fake sequel have is the tones...An useless one..
I don't know i want the old bioware back... I have the sensation that isn't going to happen anymore.. They try to sell me garbage presenting it like gold...

PR presenting something in the best light, wow whodathunkit.

Monica83 wrote...

No sorry Ray i don't buy your team lies anymore..If you want i puchase another title of yours be professional.. And make a true sequel...

Funny how you accuse them of lying when you could be accused of the same thing in this post.

Monica83 wrote...

At the moment i have much more respect for the CD-Project guys that gived us a TRUE sequel..Innovative and a NICE one..

You mean TW2 which had exactly the same things you claim to dislike DA2 for. VO, paraphrasing, fixed protagonist (even more fixed than DA2)...............

The witcher 2 paraphrasing are very accurate and i had not problem to them.. DA2 paraphrase most of the time don't fit with want i mean and this is a issue.. The witcher 2 have an action oriented combat but dinamyc and with nice animation that don't kill my immersion like the manga style of dragon age 2.. The witcher 2 have choice that have an huge impact on the plot DA2 have only the illusion of choice.. The witcher series is born with a fixed protagonist Dragon age not..

About dragon age 2
Then add: Recycling areas-- Ennemy that comes out from nowhere in wawes..Templar that don't recognize you even if you use the blood magic in front of them only meredith recognise you..Ennemy that explode in pieces with a little stab or an arrow..A SUPER linear plot where choice are useless..Character that resurrect (Leliana) even if in the first game you kill her maybe with  a nice finisher moves like decapitation.. Forced choice(My warden in origins romanced leliana and the games end that my warden and her travel around now in dragon age 2 leliana is a sort of spy ninja for the curch).. Extreme exageration that moves like people that jumps 6 meters forward to hit.. teleport nosense attack like the warrior charge and the rougue backstab(that disappear with a cloud like naruto) The varric storm of arrow from the sky.. Elves so much transformed that are almost lore breaker and utterly horrible.. Areas with a leved of detail almost laughtable.....Ho yes the meredish lightsaber of lyrium was very very very stupid

Oh right i almost forgotten... The arishock that impaled my hawke something like 7 times...Or...Blodmage that impale themself to cast a spell...

Sorry but i find this game just childish and stupid and don't deserve the rate M

The witcher 2 is much better also as action rpg but most important also like an rpg...Its a nice example of quality and how is it a true sequel...

Only that

About the skill tree i find it much similiar to mass effect but maybe is just me anyways..
