As we all know he's a berserker, but I have two spec points to spec him into two more things

I'm unsure what mixes well with berserker besides templar.

I usually spec Oghren as my party's main tank.  I'll have him as a berserker/champion/guardian.  If you want to go all-out dps, try Spirit Warrior and perhaps templar.

I once had a dwarven templar, and it felt odd being one, as dwarves don't exactly spend much time around the chantry, unless you're Burkel or one of his followers.  Don't let that stop you, though.  Your dwarf could pick up the templar talents just as a way to combat enemy mages, without giving a damn about the chantry.

You could always make him a Spirit Warrior Archer

Spirit warrior is probably the most powerful spec, whether it be for melee or ranged. I would think that reaver would be better for dps but I can't really remember now, haven't played origins in a while

Reaver can do damage, though it comes at the cost of one's own health. High risk, high reward, I guess. Reaver is the one specialization that I've not spent much time with.

Well so far I've got my setup like this:
Me: Shield Warrior with guardian/reaver/spirit warrior
Oghren: 2h Zerk/Champ/Temp
Nathaniel: dual Assassin/Duelist/Shadow
Anders: Offensive(Primal/Mage focused) with BLM/SH/SS (Spirit Healer to aid Velanna, Shapeshifter as something in case he attracts an aggro spill)
Velanna: Healer/Defensive (Creation/Spirit/Mage focus) with BLM/SH/Keeper

I typically run me, anders, velanna, and nathaniel. I would use Oghren but I need Nathaniel for locks and traps, and well I choose two mages because I find getting one character to do both damage and healing along with managing auras in only 14 preset tactics slots to be very...difficult....Plus while the builds and strategies listed on dragon age wiki are good, they don't work well with the AI because you can't make the AI think that way. You can't make Anders be a nukeshifter because he'd spend more time nuking than he would in form If the AI were programmable for a wider variety of situations with almost double the tactics slots you could possibly get with them now, it'd be better.

I also wish we had more than just two sets of 3 button action bars, and just pressed RT to cycle through them because aside from hassling through the cluttered radial interface, you can't really use all of your character's abilities to their full potential.....without them on action bar, I forget about them.<_<

Well... you don't even need tactics if you just use archers. Archery in awakening is annoyingly overpowered. Basically, respeccing everyone into archers using Accuracy (so just pump dex really high) equals one-shotting almost every enemy on nightmare. I only used two (rogue warden and nathaniel) and they usually killed everybody before sigrun or anders/velanna could do anything.

But if you're not having issues with the combat I don't see the need to change. Archery sorta ruins the challenge/fun in awakening.

Well, goodluck! I was tempted to start another origins/awakenings playthroughs (which is why I ventured down to these forums) but the combat feels like slow motion after DA2. haha oh well, I've already played it way too many times :)

i don't like to have him as the tank i awakenings, though in the early part of the game he may have to serve as that, i get justice first and keep my fav drunken dwarf as a great 2 handed damage dealer!

I always avoid using accuracy due to it being so overpowered. It comes in handy during Golems of Amgarrak, though.

Usually, I'll go with 2 warriors, 1 rogue and 1 mage, or 1 warrior, 2 rogues and 1 mage. I rarely mess with the mage auras and primarily restrict my mage to healing duties while the rest of the party focuses on damage. If you wanted to include Oghren while you already have a tank in the party, just go with one healer/crowd control mage, as the auras aren't needed.
