"Ah yes, Councilor Velarn. The supposed Turian council member who denies the existence of Reapers. I have dismissed that claim."

Something interesting i read about Turian culture on the Cerberus Daily News is that if a Turian kills himself as an act of repentance his sins/crimes are forgiven.

So, he knows what he has to do.........

Smack him round the mandibles as he panics, stick a rifle in his hands and tell him that what has passed is in the past and that he can at least die in battle like a turian warrior. Oh and he leads the charge when we go in.

Nothing. I'm here to fight the Reapers, not to deliver inane "I told you so"s or vindictive air quotes to the alien politicians like a spoiled child who finally got his way. The Arrival of the Reapers is nothing to celebrate or feel smug about. The Earth suffered the worst from it. Try to feel gleeful about that.

As if Shepard has nothing better to do! The amount of gleeful vindictiveness towards the turian councilor just proves how easily distracted the Paragon Shepard truly is.

What.

A Paragon Shepard wouldn't do that. A Paragon Shepard would pat him on the back, say "I forgive you for everything, but right now I need your help to fight the Reapers."

It's the Renegade who would be a vindicative douchebag.

I mean, saving the Council is a Paragon decision. The majority of the peoples who enjoyed the air quotes from the turian councilor are at least partly Paragons. These are the people who are feeling smug and anticipating to air quote him back.

Seems like a double standard though doesn't it? Paragons wishing to do violence for the lulz? I would give Valern a hug, the poor guy gets more hate than he deserves. It makes sense that the Council doesn't believe Shepard (or doesn't publically acknowledge their belief in the Reapers) and the air quotes were an amusing attempt at trying to use a human gesture. If he was a total doucebag, do you think he'd care about trying to understand human expressions?

Renegons/Paragades. No true Paragon would go pick a fight with him/leave him to die/harm him in any way, shape or form.

I get your point though. Still, like I said about true Paragons...

EDIT: Overlooked that you wrote "Partly paragons." Yeah, you're right. Even so, people who aren't just PINO (Paragons In Name Only) would never harm him or wish harm upon him.

I'd do to the turian councilor the same thing I'd do for Seneschal Bran in DA2: recommend him for a promotion. The people that Shepard convinces to change their mind near-instantly hold no charm for me, but I am quickly won over by characters that manage to belittle Shepard (or any of my protagonists) and get away with it. It's much more of a victory in the end when you get them on your side, if that's possible in the game in question. (Like the turian councilor we're talking about in ME1.)

I don't see the point of trying to rub it in. Why bother being so vindictive? Besides I'm sure a good portion of the galaxy thinks Shepard has gone completely insane, considering he's implicated in the deaths of 300,000 Batarians. The general populace doesn't necessarily believe the Reapers exist either.

Just make him look while his people get slaughtered by the Reapers. "See, i told you so". And then tie him up to some protected satelite, so he wont be able to escape watching the fate his stupidity brought over his race. After the Reapers are history, i am going to execute him with the rest of the council...personaly

Honestly, I like this and I'll tell you why..

During ME1, ME2, and probably most of ME3 he'll continue to not give a flying f*ck. I swear to Almighty God if I get another "We cannot involve ourselves in a purely human matter" the sh*t is hitting the fan. What you are describing is what I think is fair treatment towards the Council based off the ignorance they've displayed throughout the seriers. They've shown that they are completely useless. Some type reform is in order in terms of disbanning the Council as a whole and I think Shepard clearly deserves to initiate that.

I would like to see him swallow his pride and arrogance and say that Shep was right all along and beg for forgiveness. or blow up.

He apologizes and cries to Shepard for not believing him. Then Shepard dismisses him.

As much as I'd love to air quote or smack him, realistically I'd completely understand where the man is coming from.... however, I probably would have taken Shep's word earlier and had investigations immediately after the fall of Sovereign and get to Ilos asap

So, I'd love a handshake deal and then lets FINALLY get our butts in gear and work together... there's a war going on here! :)

Always wondered why the asari councillor never just mind linked with Shepard to determine whether he was telling the truth.

It could be dismissed as insanity without the implications of admitting that mind-controlling robots exist. That's why the council buries its head in the ground asking for absolute proof: they could avoid panic by pretending something doesn't exist and is all in one shell-shocked marine's head.

I want him to be talking about reapers and do his air quotes when all of the sudden this giant reaper tentacle comes in and impales him and then he'll just have this "WTF" look on his face. That would be lulzworthy.
