I know some of you are strongly against multiplayer, but I wanted to explore on the possible outcome of ME3 having multiplayer and how it could work.

EDIT: Added Vehicles.

Husk Mode

Endless waves of increasing amounts of husks. Similiar to Halo's FireFight mode, but husks instead. I think this should be 1-4 players.

Deathmatch Mode and Variants

There should be objectives like one team trying to plant a bomb and the other trying to stop them, or one team trying to upload a virus and another team to stop them. There also could be variants of Deathmatch mode, similar to Halo's Squad Slayer and such.

"Special Conditions"

I think it would be nice if we could set up games where people could only use a certain types of weapons, certain type of abilities, etc.

Capture the Flag

Instead of a flag, it should be something that fits in the ME universe. Possibly a data pad?

Vehicles

No vehicles, except for possibly that Atlas mech.

classes

The types of classes we could use in the multiplayer should be the same ones we use when creating a Shepard (Vanguard, Soldier, etc.). I don't think there should be a medic class because Mass Effect uses regenerating health.

Unlocking System

I think this should be similar to Battlefield Bad Company 2. We start out with one set of weapons, and as we increase in rank, we get more weapons and gadgets available to use to fit our style of play. I think the rank should start at Ensign and end at Spectre, which would give all available weapons, gadgets, mods, etc.

Characters

I don't think we'll be using the squadmates or our Shepards. It's quite possible that it would be gneric Alliance/N7 vs. Cerberus (because Cerberus is an enemy in ME3).

So, what do you think of my idea?

good god honestly.....

Bioware please stop wasting resources on a MP mode and focus EVERYTHING in the SP campaign

not EVERY game needs to play online especially if you end up tying achievements to it

I think that's the biggest problem. maybe the controls could be different? Like maybe having the powers in a hot key style?

Actually, Bioware is being vague on multiplayer. It's quite possible we might be seeing it in ME3.

Don't have the source bookmarked but in one of the first interviews they gave about they game, they confirmed no multiplayer.

Or its a waste of bioware's time and it would be better spent on crafting what will  possibly be one of the greatest games we've ever played.

There are plenty of TPS's with great multiplayer (borderlands is a great RPG/FPS with Co-op and arena's where you can battle) and many possible oppurtunities in the future of the ME franchise.

but for ME3? please no

Casey said the team is focused on making the best SP experience for ME3. Thing is, another team is supposedly doing the MP, thereby allowing Casey to tell the truth and avoid flat-out denial.

But if Bioware wants to draw in a huge crowd, they should try to compete at least a little with COD. That way people might now about it more (the people who use multiplayer)

Ya they should totally be trying to compete and draw in that crowd...cause CoD fans are the coolest ever and I can't wait to have an online experience with them in ME. Even better maybe some L4D2 fans can come over so we can't go 2 games without some **** screaming into the mic....I can't wait!!!

yes and everyone else (like people who play ME for the single player immersion and story) gets it where the sun does not shine  ??

COD is not a good game, COD is the MacDonald's of videogames right now, sure, millions of clients but it is really garbage

If there is no MP in ME3 then it should be no problem for someone from BioWare to come into one of these topics and just say "No, there is no MP in ME3." I remember hearing one of the devs say there wouldn't be any a while back, but things can change whenever money and/or EA is involved.

if there was no NG+ in DA2 then there should not be a problem for a Bioware employee to come in and say so in a thread right? Well I have been asking for NG+ in DA2 for MONTHS.....did not get an official answer until literally 1 month prior to launch

If it's garbage, then why does it out sell every other game?

I really don't like the idea of online versus modes, the controls are no where near good enough to stand up to the likes of Gears, and it attracts the sort of people who disregard the single player and dedicate themselves to the online. Quite frankly, I dislike those people.

However, I think Co-op has potential, and I wouldn't mind it as much, as long as it didn't make the single player shorter or less of an experience. A horde style mode with husks actually sounds quite fun.

Well anyone still holding on to "there will be no multiplayer" is just kidding themselves at this point.

Tha Demos at E3 showed a more or less complete game that was originally slated for November, then all the sudden they need 4 extra months? When the original release is still 5 months away?

Naw all that's boring OP. None of it truly uses what's really awesome about ME - the conversation wheel!

We need "Dismissing Claims" as MP.

You and two others play as the 3 primary citadel councilors and a bunch of AI citizens come up with problems one after the other. For primary speech abilities, the Turian play gets the "dismiss" ability, the Salarian gets the "Logical Counter" ability, and the Asari gets the "Compassionate Consideration ability".

The game works thusly. An AI citizen addresses the council with a simple statement of their problem. There is a "correct" way to address the citizen without getting them too angry. Forceful characters accept a blunt answer, not a wishy washy one, where sensitive folks prefer consideration. Giving the wrong answer lowers the "Public Approval" rating of the citdel councilors - when it gets too low, GAME OVER.

The human players, as councilors have to try to interrupt the speech at the appropriate moment to address the issue on the table. Jumping in too soon "fails" just as selecting a tactless response. The citizens come in ever increasing groups called "sessions" (with a small break in between to tally the player's performance) and are randomized from a cast of 200 different unique problems so there's enough variation. The sessions go on until the council loses all public support and they are assassinated via a radical extremest.

All three players can use the other two abilities as well though, but priority goes to the councilor with the primary characteristic, unless the two other councilors perform a "Bipartisan Agreement" combo and both select the option at the same time. They don't get as many other points for this, but they do prevent another player from scoring.

There ya go! That's Multiplayer that makes sense for Mass Effect!

Advertising works wonders on minds like the ones that love CoD games simple as that.
