I did both quests in Amaranthine, inadvertantly making the smugglers and the city guard to dislike me.  Now I have a quest turn in arrow besides the captain of the guard's name but when I try to interact, he says he's nothing to say to me,  Due to saving, I can't go back and fix it, so just a warning for those out there, don't goof up and do one if you'd rather do the other.

At least Awakening isn't too long, if you wanted to start over. It's also a good idea to have a few different save files, so you can backtrack if you run into situations like this.

I'm bad about reading up on quests before I do them, as to avoid possible bugs at the risk of spoilers, and so I knew how to avoid this and to wait on starting Law and Order until after finishing Sigrun's Roguish Past.

How do you do both? Once I talked to one of them and accepted a quest the other one wouldn't talk to me. Running patch 1.04

You can start both, just not finish both.

But either quest is easily finished long before Sigrun is found.  How is anyone supposed to have a clue about this ludicrous bug...

Yeah, I really hate this about Awakenings, and is part of the reason why my one full completionist run where I managed to do every possible quest is the last I'll ever see of it. You can easily lose Valenna's quest permanently if you go straight to Vigil's Keep from the silverite mine, which apparently has something to do with the random encounter with the crow assassins.

Yeah.

The amount of bugs at release and remaining are the one thing for me that have stopped Origins/Awakening from being greats in my book.  I still played them, but they're good, not great.

I found that Origins was not so bad, at least not on PS3, but looking at the list, there's quite a lot of potential bugs that people may encounter. Overall it was alright. It was really Awakening that was pretty bad.
