How will the lack decisions made in previous titles affect ME3 play?

The default game always assumes that Shepard was a Renegade. For example in ME2 the game assumes that the Council died, the Rachni queen died, Wrex died, Udina is the Councilor, and basically everyone died left and right in ME1. I'm assuming that a similar experience will go for players who just load up ME3 without an ME1 or ME2 save.

What Vicex said. For example, in the PS3 version of ME2 Conrad Verner doesn't appear since its assumed he got killed. This makes me sad since I played ME1 when I still had a 360 and loved interacting with Conrad whenever possible, but there you go.

It isn't a case of Conrad getting killed it is more a case that the 'sidequests' just weren't done on the PS3 just as they weren't on the default playthroughs for PC/360.
I'm intrigued as to how they are going to handle the start for ME3, I have a feeling that the 'Previously on Mass Effect' won't be some DLC like it was for ME2, so if you start a new Shepard you'll be going through the 'Previously on Mass Effect' thing and thus no 'default' shep will be there this time. This will apply to all 3 platforms not just PS3.

Mass Effect 1 will never be on the PS3.

If EA is serious about the franchise, it will be. On WiiU as well sooner or later.ForumPortal wrote...

ME1 was published my Microsoft originally so they probably had an agreement with EA that ME1 would be exclusive to Microsoft platformsIsaacShep wrote...

It can though. As long as Bioware changes up the game enough that it is no longer considered within Microsoft's contract then they can release it whereever they want. For example, ramping the graphics up to the new graphics that ME3 uses and/or including the game for free in a bundle. I don't know the specifics of the contract but in most cases the devs can make a port of a game and give it out "for free" (in this case with the purchase of the bundle) as long as they don't make any profit off it.ForumPortal wrote...

@Sir Ulrich Ah yes, my mistake. ME2 assumes that the Renegade options were chosen for major decisions while most sidequests were left undone. I imagine that ME3 will follow the trend of Bioware to include "special" content (the comic in this case) to those who buy the game new while those who buy it preowned or rent it are denied the comic. Thats what they did in ME2 for PS3. This is complete speculation though and you shouldn't quote me on it.

Microsoft owns publishing rights and just as EA showed with ME1 on PC, publishing rights can be bought out.ForumPortal wrote...

And they could easy be bought out to make more money. Which is what Microsoft loves to do anyway.

Good news those six decisions are what I am concerned about. I hope they have one for ME2 as well.

Notice how its released for Microsoft Windows and not Macs or other operating systems. M$ did it to fill their own greed, not out of love for its fanbase. Likewise M$ will not give EA the rights to publish Mass Effect 1 for the PS3 or Mac even if EA gives them their entire treasury.IsaacShep wrote...

I'm just one example of former 360 enthusiasts who switched because of Micro$oft. I know plenty of others who had 360s but the terrible support or outdated hardware (like having to use 3 discs to play one game) forced them to look at the PS3 or PC or even just quit gaming altogether. Not everything is as simple as "Shoulda bought a 360."

Microsoft gained nothing from ME1 going to PC, it wasn't even released via Games for Windows program. And no one's talking about MS "giving" EA right, EA needs to buy them back or secure the deal some other (for example, Kinect exclusive features in ME3 in exchange for ME1 full publishing rights).Oblivious wrote...

What I WISH we could do is create a highly-custom savegame through a simple database editor app here on the BSN, then upload it to the Cerberus Network, and download it to our computers through the DLC portal. But that's wishful thinking. :/ Heck, they could even charge a nominal fee for an upload and I'd still do it.
You can always use the gibbed saved editor, even if you are a consle user.
I, on the other hand, rather not, too much of a risk that it might corrupt the data somehow and wont import into ME3.
I'm not saying it will, but...the possiblities is there. Enough for me to stay away.
