Hmm... I have not run across that.

And I use rechargeable AA batteries for my wireless controller.
I have four that I alternate in pairs, and so far so good.

Maybe it's a problem with the power supply you use?

It has only happened for me with the official Xbox 360 rechargeable battery packs.  I haven't attempted to recreate the issue with standard AA batteries yet.

I dont think it has anything to do with the batteries it´s just a bug.

Are those battery packs lithium or nickel cadmium? I'm gonna be googling myself, right now.

I ask because there could be issues with how the charge is held so that the console can pause before a complete loss of power in the controller.

Edit: fixing post

It's not a power supply issue, it happens any time the controller disconnect message pops during gameplay. For example if you pulled the battery pack out to change batteries without pausing the game you would get this message and the game would continue to run without pausing.

Well batteries do have limited charge/discharge cycles. I'd guess it's time for a new battery pack.

And this seems like a decent source on batteries: http://www.urbanfox....1batteries.html

Edit: There is a mystery afoot, since there can be compounding issues with the battery packs and possibly a bug in the game, I'm going to wait and see what turns up.

But at any rate, here are some links. Knowledge is power after all ^_^

Edit: adding quote, sorry for any confusion.

It's an issue with how the game handles controller disconnects rather than battery charge/discharge cycles

Well, if I'm wrong then I apologize.

And I guess I should have been more specific to why I posted that stuff, I was considering this post:

Fair enough I think I missed that post, but yeah the game not pausing is an issue with how the game handles controller disconnects, it's always something I push to get fixed on the games I test as it can be annoying

This problem piqued my curiosity, so I decided to fire up ME2 and test it out.

So far, I've tried it out on the Normandy and with Overlord, since it was a readily available assignment from my recent saves.

In the first battle sequence of Overlord, I removed the batteries from the controller, and the game kept playing with no pause (Geth were happily blasting away), and with a "Please reconnect controller" message. Other combat sequences had the same thing.

I also removed the batteries during the Hammerhead sequences with the same result again.

So I can confirm that the game does not pause, with a "Please reconnect controller" message when the batteries are removed from the controller.

Very interesting :D

i bought myself a wired microsoft controller for my pc, and have been using it for my 360, way easier, and the cable is long enough to play from accross a room.

Also, before i had that i could have sworn all my games (even me2) paused when the battery dropped dead, however i haven't played long times without recharging/using the wired remote ever since they released an update thing, maybe the bug is in that patch?

For people saying its the consol not the game, Daragon age goes to the menu screen when the controllers disconnect (I was having issues with my controllers staying synced on my old system so it did this a lot). I don't see why ME3 can't do this as well.

Hmm that's strange. On my console ME2 (along with every other game) always pauses whenever the battery runs out and the "reconnect controller" message appears.
I see it quite often too, as I always let the batteries run dead flat - I have cheapo rechargeables that actually last quite well, but give the low battery warning when there's still quite a bit of charge left.

When was the last time your controller ran out on ME2? Just curious as to whether it was broken in a game update.

Heh, this got me killed on insanity once...

It tells you the controller disconnected, no early warning at all and the game continues without pausing.

Then you stand up and crack your knee on the desk as your rushing around to find some batteries as fast as possible :P

That did actually happen.   I never thought about this issue since then as panic was over but really well brought up. Glad Bioware taken note too.  No more sore knees in ME3 for me!

Lol, I actually have a battery pack, but it's basically dead. I can't leave it for 10mins without it dying now, so I have it plugged in all the time now...I guess that's what you get for buying it pre-owned. :P Ah well.

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that Fragglespank did that on purpose.

My controller is partially damaged, so that it vibrating can sometimes cause the battery pack to become loose and half fall out, disconnecting it.

Not only does the game not pause, but Shepard continues whatever action they were doing when the battery got disconnected.

So i will take a shot with the widow, the vibration of the controller will make the battery disconnect and Shepard will just keep shooting with the Widow. All that precious ammo........

But it is kind of fun when the vibration from hitting an enemy with my Vanguard Charge makes it come loose, and i have to frantically shove it back in while surrounded by mooks shooting at me.

Indeed.  I thought it was obvious, but clearly not.

Anyway, I've derailed this thread enough already so...

It is possible that the patch is what screwed up the game pause, myself bought ME2 in the laste 2010s and downloaded the patch.
I don´t think is my console becuase it ONLY happens in ME2 i´m just glad that BW put some attention to this thread and will probably fix it in ME3
