Having already completed my 2nd playthough of DAO, I decided I wanted to try to import our party gear into Awakenings.  The plan was to refight the archdemon, and then have everyone peel down just before the archdemon face planted.  I reloaded my final save, and began the fight. All was going well ... we were winning without the need for reinforcements, and towards the midpoint of the battle I'd found that special rhythm with the ballista that has the dragon repeatedly roaring in pain and unable to attack before the next bolt poked him.

So far so good.  Then suddenly, the last wave of darkspawn arrived, and a shriek snuck up behind my main character, and apparently landed a crit that punched right through her 45+ armor and 120+ defensive value, and killed her (she'd apparently been whittled down by a Vortex spell, and I'd fallen behind in healing). Anyway, she was DEAD.  Since she was the only grey warden in my 'A Team' (atop Drakon), and since she was the only person with the ability to cast a revive spell, all hope should have been lost, right ?  NOPE.

As experienced DA players know, the game doesn't care who in the party lands the final blow that ends a particular  engagement - only that it occurs, and that afterwards all the other party members spring back to life.  In this instance, with my female arcane warrior (and the only grey warden present) dead/fallen, morrigan took over the ballista and got the last few shots in. The dragon's healthbar disappeared, but it kept roaring, so I knew the software was just treading water waiting for the chance to play the final cut  scene, which only happens with the party striking the last blow from
within melee range.

Now, here's where things got amusingly wacky: Morrigan let go of the ballista, and I promptly opened the equipment screen and had the entire team strip down to their skivvies and charge the dragon ... essentially naked and bare handed, and fully intent on victory.  Wth the ballista suddenly silent, the archdemon stopped roaring, and gathered itself to meet the charge of my butt-nekkid companions. The final wave of darkspawn (shrieks and hurlocks) were standing by the sally port, unable to attack, because apparently they were locked by virtue of the game was treading water waiting to play the final cutscene.

Oghren arrived at the archdemon first, and took a tail lash to the face ... but since he had "Indomitable" up he was merely staggered back several steps. He regatherd himself, and just like Mongo in Blazing Saddles, PUNCHED the dragon … and since the dragon was already at zero health, KILLED IT, barehanded.

Yes, you read that correctly ... Oghren killed the archdemon bare-handed, in his skivvies.   I could easily imagine that making a good tavern tale for him later in life.

:P

Anyway, there's more.  Right on cue, the last few points of damage triggered the climactic cutscene ... my dead main character suddenly sprang to her feet, grabbed her 2H Starfang, charged forward (in her french-cut bra and panties), and did the familiar sliding cut and overhand chop that ended the blight.  The scene then dissolved to the soldiers cheering, and then again to the coronation ... with my main character is still in her bra and panties.  Very odd to be in the post-battle coronation ceremony, wearing nadda, and not having anyone comment.  I had her continue the fun by marching out to the adoring crowds without getting drfessed. Quite the sight, I imagine.

Bottom line - it worked (soft of) ... I was able to migrate a fair amount of party gear to Awakenings.  I'm sure others have done the same, but perhaps not quite in the same way I did. ;)

Too funny! I've been chuckling for the last few days over my latest Warden's antics - She changed out of armor and into a pretty dress (for her Ultimate Sacrifice funeral screenshots). The dragon ride was... interesting...

NICE ! :)

I wish screen shots were possible on the PS3 ... if so, I could probably capture a few memorable ones.

And that's why Oghren was in Awakenings.
