I feel maze is a great spell with excellent tactical uses, but what wizard in his/her right mind would use it to protect a chest?

In a typical fight, the spell is useful for quickly disabling a powerful opponent so you can divide and conquer. For example, remove a powerful fighter from combat temporarily, concentrate on taking down the other foes, leaving him by himself when he reappears. Or a couple of higher lv rogues could start combat with maze traps in place if they expect to be ambushed.

However, what does the wizard expect to achieve when he wards a chest with maze? Barring the quirks in the infinity engine, a typical thief would simply disappear for a few minutes, but he would be free to continue looting the chest when he reappears. It is a minor inconvenience at best! Same for maze traps placed in the middle of nowhere.

Your thoughts? =]

At the time it looked like a good idea... thief reappears to find the guards waiting. Unfortunately he forgot to hire said guards i.e. High intelligence but sad levels of wisdom... some wizards are like that.

It's an effective way for a mage to kill a solo opponent - I was very annoyed to finish one no-reload in that fashion!
