Theory: Illusive Man is Shepard's father.

On a slightly related note, we're getting ideas like this now... just imagine what we'll see in the next 8 and a bit months... and note that the time between the official announcement of the release and the release itself is the typical human gestation period.... which strongly implies a birth... which strongly implies that somewhere between ME2 and ME3, Shepherd will become his own father.. using dark matter and dark energy to travel through time to discover how to defeat the Reapers and then go back and make sure he's born....how's that for a plot twist....

An attempt at an example of arguing by exaggeration, just to be clear.

So if you're telling me that Shepard is some one night stand kid, I don't want it. Shepard deserves a little more dignified childhood than that.

That's retarded.
Just for the sake of clarity, Mesina2, were you referring to the OP or my post? If mine, it was intended to be an over-the-top example. Which would mean it was effective, just misplaced.

Shepard was born three years before the FCW, after which Jack Harper became TIM.

Then where is his/her father now? It only makes sense.
Dignified childhood? The Earthborn Shepard was a petty criminal as a child.

Good thing that I'm never going to romance that sl*t, then.

Most of the backgrounds involves Shepard's family getting killed at the hands of raiders or clearly abandoning him/her. I'd rather leave Shepard's family status at "Unknown" than knowing that he/she is more likely the child of some cheap hooker Jack hit on in a bar.
And the Star Wars movie is how old? Over thirty years? You're telling me that the writers can't come up with something that's less cliche and predictable than that?
Come on.

Pointed at OP.
I though it was pretty obvious.

Cheers, and it certainly leaned that way, but I've also been horrendously misinterpreted before on the interwebs (haven't we all?)

This shows that the "theory" is just randomly made up for fun, I'm surprised at how many people don't seem to have noticed. Of course, I could be reading it wrong and perhaps that was put in knowing that some people wouldn't notice (or wouldn't bother reading it properly/at all) to add to the trolling later.
Anyway, we all know that Udina is Shepard's father and Conrad is really Shepard's brother (yes, that's a joke).

If Shepard was a spacer in ME1, then there was a chance that the player could meet his/her mother. Yet, very little is mentioned at all about Shepard's father.
So, without the basis of evidence, I think it is quite likely that the Illusive Man is Shepard's father, and mid-way through ME3, as the player confronts TIM in his hideout, TIM walks out and declares himself to be Shepard's father. Just like what they did in that Star Wars movie.
Why is this possible? It is a well-used plot device. Also, it would probably explain why the Illusive Man bothered to bring back Shepard: he wants his daughter/son back.

Thank you. I wasn't really being serious. In fact, given the seriousness of this board in general, I thought it could use some more lightheartedness. No, I was trying to troll either.
