No just no! If your a colonist your parents we're killed, if you were earthborn you never knew your parents to begin with. TIM bought back Shepard because he was a symbol and a good leader. And TIM already has a family and a backstory which doesnt include Shep so it would make no sense.

So, without the basis of evidence, I think it is quite likely that the Illusive Man is Shepard's father, and mid-way through ME3, as the player confronts TIM in his hideout, TIM walks out and declares himself to be Shepard's father. Just like what they did in that Star Wars movie.

Why is this possible? It is a well-used plot device. Also, it would probably explain why the Illusive Man bothered to bring back Shepard: he wants his daughter/son back.

Yeah, it's RARE but it's happened that two mostly black parents have a white child (and vice versa).  Many African-Americans have SOME Caucasian blood mixed in (and vice versa), even if it's 100 years ago, so if the DNA just happens to line up just right...

As for the topic of TIM being Shepard's father, it COULD happen, but I really hope it doesn't... it's just too cliche after Star Wars.

Even though I have no way of proving it, I'll just say NO!!! They did this thing having different backgrounds. The situation amongst Spacer, Colonist and Earthborn are just too different to pull a stunt like this. And of course there isn't the slightest bit of evidence to suggest it is the case.

I'm more convinced that twist is not about Shepard. It suits more to TIM and Miranda, but i think M. has clearly stated that her father is somebody other. Garrus and his family on Palaven's moon?

I think TIM is not only his father but also his mother, as well as his sister and mexican gardener. TIM has also a twin brother who was a siamese twin, but in order to keep TIM alive they had to sacrifice him, but he still survived. Since then his twin brother is in search for revenge and living in a basket case since he was just a blob like creature from birth.
Tim is always carrying him around and has to feed him hamburgers.
True story.
