As with most of my posts, I just thought of this while bored at work and pining for Mass Effect 3 already.

One of the aspects that I like the most about Dragon Age (more so in Origins) was the ability to get gifts for your party members or receive some from them.  I was just wondering why they haven't done anything similar in Mass Effect.  I'm not talking about the little ones like soiled pantaloons, but the ones that lead to interaction with your party members. like the rose with Alistair or the mirror with Morrigan.

Although it could get ridiculous or silly, I think it could be cool to have at least one per character...or at the very least one for or from you LI.  Who wouldn't want to see the reaction of your party members when you give them an awesome gift.  

For example, imagine the reaction of Grunt when he unwraps and awesome shotgun.  Or think of how practical it would be to get Garrus something to help with his calibrations.  Maybe some Prothean artifacts for Liara or some upgrades so Tali's drone, Chatika, can go for the optics easier.

I think there's potential there, anyone else want to weigh in?

I'm not sure that I'm entirely convinced by the idea, but Shepard does enough shopping for fish and miniature ships that I don't see why Shepard couldn't pick up a gift or two for other people. Maybe a similar situation to the Ice Brandy for Chakwas. I'd be a fan of more scenes like that one.

See, that's a perfect example.  That's what I'm going for.  Plus, it'd be really nice to get some sentimental iteraction with crew members because they've become family by now.

I liked the little side errands for the crew. I thought it was a nice way to catch up with them in the game. If they add a few more side missions like that into ME3, I'd be a fan of it

I can picture Tali all happy over some mods for her little Chatika

Getting pissed with Dr Chakwas was lots of fun. Liara giving Shep her dogtags in LotSB was nice and when the topic of Liara's birthday came up Shep said she'd have to get something for her. So I think the occasional gift giving could be good.
