This. Especially when people go so far to state that they "accidentally" started a homosexual romance.

It would be awkward at times, especially for people with established relationships, and I would hope your fellow crew members on the Normandy would have the respect and courtesy to not try to jeopardize your relationships.

My only issue with this is that Bioware would either have to choose sexual orientation for all of the characters or say they're all Bi. What's to stop Kaidan from perusing a relationship my male shep who has a relationship with Jack? Or having love octagons where everyone wants to be in Shepard's pants.

Yeah? But saying their "Bi" is giving them a sexual orientation. And what's to stop Kaidan from pursing a relationship with you as a male? You don't throw out any hints that you want to start anything with him.
Your crew members were respectful enough in ME2, they literally wouldn't let it go passed a certain point unless you metagamed them. Besides, some of that is Sheperd's lack of respect as well. Not just there's.

Miranda: "Its so cold in my cabin all alooooonne."
Shepard: "So? get a blanket. I'm off to engineering to talk to Tali."
But I seriously doubt they're going to make the 'Anders Error' again.

They had it, sort of, in ME2. Though it was only the Miri, Tali, and Jack who hit on Shepard to one degree or another. Maybe they'll balance it out, which I wouldn't mind. So long as it wasn't as out of left-field as Anders was in DA2.
actualy - it was just Tali.
Miranda thinks its unprofessional to start relationships when galaxy is at stake and you have to convince her otherwise. she's pretty resistant too.
Jack - just thinks you want her for sex - its what she's used to, normaly. if you give in to her quickie suggestion, she stops speaking to you and its not concidered a romance. if you do not - you can pursue a sort of a friendship path, in which she's also resistant as she doesn't really trust that someone might actualy want to get to know her for her and not to use her in some way.
all in all - its a pretty annoying concept, especialy when it comes to existing characters since different shepards might have treated them differently and the game doesn't seem to track those conversational differences.
none of the male characters hit on Shepard, in fact they don't concider shepard as possibile romantic interest unless Shepard insists. its especialy apparent with Jacob and Garrus.
having characters hit on Shepard is just begging for ninjamancing.
people complained about it with Liara, VS, Zevran, Leliana. to lesser degree with other DAO characters. it was the major reason for super ridiculously obvious romance triggers in ME2. they tried heart icons in DA2... it was a mixed sucess.
just keep it in Shepard's corner, easier that way.

It is of course stupid that it would cause fan rage, but, that's how it is. Though, my poor Femmeshep has been objectified at least once per game and seems to be a constant flirt.

Which is unfortunate. Blue alien space sex: Okay. S/S flirtation: Get the torches and pitchforks. Solution, perhaps: a simple on/off setting for male and/or female S/S options. That would likely be even more controversial, though.

It would be but for some reason, many people completly freak out when virtual characters hit on them. They's 100% fine with virtual characters betraying them, trying to kill them, lying to them and all the negative stuff people can but when it comes to something positive as romantic interest, suddenly they go " OMGGG so uncomfortable!!!1111"XX55XX wrote...

Definitely no if it's a male character hitting on my male Shepard. I hated when Anders did that. If it's in their character, and it's a male hitting on femshep or female hitting on maleshep, certainly. However I don't see this working in ME3 with everything and everyone being destroyed around you, that's no time to go hitting on your commander. The reason it worked in DA2 is because of the atmosphere and the characters, namely Isabella was good at it. These kinds of characters and atmosphere are missing in ME3 so I do not see this working out.
If they introduced a strangely laid back human female (EG she doesn't really care about the reapers and all) and she'd hit on my maleshep however, I wouldn't mind. Wouldn't trade Liara in for a new character though but that's a different story.

So a female character like that is perfectly acceptable, but a male one is taboo?
Well considering the ****ing and moaning that went on when people complained about Anders hitting on them when they "chose" the Flirt Option in the first place.
Edit* And letting him down only netted like what 5+ to 10+Rivalry? I just find it funny people ouldn't take the hit, on the f/r bar.
I do got to wonder what these people were thinking.
I would love for a squadmate to hit on Shep for once, and I hope Bioware fixed the Drunken Co-Ed come on that she had with Jacob.
