Wouldn't it be cool if squadmates hit on you without you flirting with them first?

I know it was done in DA2 with Anders (albeit very poorly), but I think it would add an interesting dynamic to those players who are "engaged" with another squadmate at the moment. Let's say my character has had a relationship with Ashley, but then Miranda starts hitting on me in ME3, pushing Shepard to have sex with her.

It would be a very interesting addition. Consider it, BioWare!

Definitely no if it's a male character hitting on my male Shepard. I hated when Anders did that. If it's in their character, and it's a male hitting on femshep or female hitting on maleshep, certainly. However I don't see this working in ME3 with everything and everyone being destroyed around you, that's no time to go hitting on your commander. The reason it worked in DA2 is because of the atmosphere and the characters, namely Isabella was good at it. These kinds of characters and atmosphere are missing in ME3 so I do not see this working out.

If they introduced a strangely laid back human female (EG she doesn't really care about the reapers and all) and she'd hit on my maleshep however, I wouldn't mind. Wouldn't trade Liara in for a new character though but that's a different story.

So a female character like that is perfectly acceptable, but a male one is taboo?

Well considering the ****ing and moaning that went on when people  complained about Anders hitting on them when they "chose" the Flirt Option in the first place.

Edit* And letting him down only netted like what 5+  to 10+Rivalry? I just find it funny people ouldn't take the hit, on the f/r bar.

I do got to wonder what these people were thinking.

I would love for a squadmate to hit on Shep for once, and I hope Bioware fixed the Drunken Co-Ed come on that she had with Jacob.

I can only ever speak for myself but since I'm a straight male I don't much enjoy having other males  hit on me, not even in video games. Besides, Anders would flirt with male characters regardless of previous dialogue choice. I never flirted with him, he just blurts it out, out of nowhere.

I dont want to have to turn down homsexuals/bisexuals left and right. I know my Shepard is sexy and all but please, he likes the ladies/blue aliens. Image IPB Uhhhh no offense.

This sums it up pretty nicely as well :D

And I absolutely ADORE being hit on by Harkin,  belittled by a batarian for being female,  my gender turned into docile sex slaves, it happens in the ME though.  Why is it alright for woman to put up with stuff but as soon as a male is brought into the thing it becomes "Dirty bad wrong."

We have very fragile egos. You think men would have been able to endure that kind of abuse for centuries?

Double standards. That is why you would never see an all-male species wooing both men and women of every other sentient species alike.

Not to mention it being a norm for them at a certain age to actually want to striptease for money in clubs.

I agree Harkin did very much deserve a smack in the face for that remark in Chora's den. I never said it was okay for females to be hit on like that though. I was talking specifically about maleshep being hit on by a male character and how I'd prefer it if that didn't happen. I never had a problem with it playing Femshep and only recently started a ladyhawke playthrough so I have no opinion on this yet.

Aww, yeah you're right, women put up with a lot of crap compared to guys. Still, as a guy, I can safely say I wouldn't mind being hit on from time to time......................hell, I'd be flattered even if another guy showed a little interest.......provided he doesn't go as far as violating my rectum.........I wouldn't want that.

It still doesn’t work that way,  females will always end up being propositioned or belittled in at least one scene in the game.  For some reason people see this as a “Gender difference” and eat it up like candy.  It’s garbage.  I’m getting off topic I suppose though…

But if male Shepard is hit on by a female character you could point in fact be making a gay male uncomfortable or if a male hit on a female you could be making a lesbian out there feel uncomfortable.  Or you could be a woman being hit on by a man that is obviously repugnant and this makes you uncomfortable.  All of these things have happened in the game so far.  While I do admit I do not want people to be uncomfortable I am not particularly sympathetic to this argument as it is something everyone besides straight male gamers have experienced at least once in the trilogy.

@ slurms

I’m glad that you’re open minded enough to tolerate the situation…

You will also find very few people who want to be anally violated.

It is possible that I am a spiteful ****.  I also never suggested it be added,  but,  the argument in general pisses me off because it only matters when the majority makes it.

Haha, yeah that's pretty understandable......though, a friend (might be stretching it a bit, more like an acquaintance), boasted and bragged about performing that certain act on his girlfriend................he always was a little ******. Apologies for my gratuitous language.

This, CZ got to the crux of the matter. I wouldn't mind it this way either, just as long as a response is acknowledged and remembered.

No, because it would lead to the straight LIs hitting on my Shep, and her having to beat them off with a stick whilst she looks for that elusive romance dialogue with her intended bi LI.

It would only work with the character's personality anyway. Jack come onto maleShep in ME2 and it suited her personality. However if she was, for example, the bi LI in ME3 they would make her reserved about coming onto femShep (to keep people happy), and that would jar with her personality. Better that no-one comes onto Shep, and s/he just does it themselves.

i say a compromise between the yes S/S and no S/S; i'm personally not planning on going gay, and i don't want garrus and thane, my two best friends in the game, to suddenly decide they're gay for me and try to flirt with me whenever i go down to talk to them. i don't mind if the gay option is there, i just don't want it forced upon me. same way with the women; i want to feel like i'm actually doing some work. i like how what they did with tali, how she has a crush on you (if you're a dude), but is professional enough to not act on it while i'm with ashley or miranda.

I'd definitely want to see... more activity from the chosen LI. Because for now no matter who LI is, s/he just waiting patiently in corner while Shepard will come to speak - oh, until the final mission. They even hardly ever speak about feelings when Shepard approaches with talk. It always made me think Shepard is obsessed and poor LI is terrified to hear his/her approaching. Why not to add several LI-initiated dialogues or just "Shepard, I'd like to talk for a bit" when Shepard stands nearby? The same goes for common coldness of conversation: shouldn't people in love share a little smiles, stand closer, accidentally touch with shoulders?
Granted the romance from ME1 and ME2 will continue, it will be extremely strange for character you had a history together not to be initiative

I think all LIs should be bisexual, mainly because choosing a subset would ****** off players who happen to desire their particular LI who is not on the list.

I think the default should be no propositions from LIs. That is Shepard must make a flirty move either via a line or buying them flowers or something.

I would like a toggle that turns on NPC initiating romances across the board for both SS and opposite sex. This setting would only modify who would hit on you and you would have to accept or reject their advances. If the toggle is off then you Shepard always has to make the first move.

This gives players a choice of the level of aggressiveness they want in the dating sim:)

In some of my play throughs I'd like to play a loose and sexy Sheppard that has everyone hitting on her/him. I'd also love to see this mode allow for more polyamory since everyone wants this Shepard so bad.

I could even be talked into having the toggle be available for both same sex and opposite sex romances as long as the the default is the same for both kinds and the romances are available to everyone regardless of this setting.

I wouldn't mind more squadmates hitting on/seducing Shepard, particularly if they're already in a relationship with you. ("Why do *I* have to do all the work?!") There should also be a way to let them down gently if you're not interested, WITHOUT suffering gameplay repercussions for it (i.e. whaddaya mean I just got 30 Rivalry Points?!)

This. Thane ninjamanced me when I was trying to be loyal to Kaidan. All the sudden, he calls me siha and I find myself reloading an old save. On Insanity. What a pain in the ass.

Miranda: "Its so cold in my cabin all alooooonne."

But I seriously doubt they're going to make the 'Anders Error' again.

A lot of guys still complain about the whole Anders thing. It was a conscious decision to make Anders try to get into a romance with Hawke, no matter what. I am not sure why, but it did make Anders come across as desperately clingy, which is perhaps what they were going for.

I think squadmates hitting on you could be humorous as long as it is within their character to do so. I don't really see any of the current squad as anything like Isabella or Zevran, however.

It would be but for some reason, many people completly freak out when virtual characters hit on them. They's 100% fine with virtual characters betraying them, trying to kill them, lying to them and all the negative stuff people can but when it comes to something positive as romantic interest, suddenly they go " OMGGG so uncomfortable!!!1111"

People are insane.

I personally think it's adorable as all heck that Liara has a crush on Shepard regardless of choices. In my playthrough. stayed true to Kaidan, in ME2 Lotsb she seemed to have moved on some from crush to really loyal friend. I liked that I could ask her about her Drell friend and she didn't deny interest in him just that he was in a bad place right now. Really that was some awesome writing for those of us who like Liara as a friend and not an LI. I want to see more of that.

Tali was as all blushy and awkward and as soon as I called her out on it, she wouldn't talk to me anymore!! Like a bad high school shut down.. lol.

Anyway being hit on I don't have an issue with at all, what actually drives me crazy is having my Shep hit on someone whithout me intending her too. Saying hello to Jacob shouldn't sound like that....

I would prefer the flirting, seducing and being hit on by the established LI really.

After a mission debriefing, romanced Ashley slapping Shepard on the as5 and making some little flirty comment ... YES!!!! Tali slapping same Shepard on As5? No. She is his friend, nothing more.

Turning people down in real life sucks .. Image IPB

My Shepards would feel like heels if he/she had to turn down his/her friends.

I don't really care, as long as I can say no and they understand.
But I'd like to see my LI flirting more, and if you cheated you ME1 LI, having him/her trying to seduce you again.
