I'm having strange issues with music cutting out when I try to play Mass Effect; the initial menu has the usual music at first, but the second it reloads the main menu because of changing settings in the options menu or starting a new game I get absolutely no music (very boring intro that way!). I played with settings in the BIOEngine.ini sound settings to get the following, but no dice on fixing things:

[ISACTAudio.ISACTAudioDevice]
MaxChannels=128
TimeBetweenHWUpdates=15.000000
MinOggVorbisDurationGame=20
MinOggVorbisDurationEditor=4
TotalAvailableChannels=128
DeviceName=
ReserveChannels=2
UseEffectsProcessing=True

Nothing else on my system is having issues as far as I can tell. I did get a little unusual chugging when I first started a new game, but otherwise everything else (including dialogue/sound effects) worked fine. Here are my actual system stats:

Intel i7 3.33ghz 6-core chip
12gb RAM
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
nVidia GeForce GTX 580
Creative SoundBlaster XiFi

Any advice?

IIRC there was an issue with the audio settings, that in game could cause them to cut out, I think I remember it being the hardware button in settings. It has been awhile since I encountered stuttering sound on my machine and I can't for sure remember what fixed it, other than reading a post here and then changing an ingame setting in audio settings.

If you change the settings in game, or run the configuration utility, you effectively remove the changes you make in the Bioengine.ini file.
The 1.02 patch was supposed to address the stuttering sound issue, mainly on the Realtek HD audio series. Setting teh game to run on software, either in the config utility or ingame menu might resolve it, otherwise all I can suggest is looking through the tweak guide, testing out settings, andthen leaving the options alone.
