I find it pretty easy to come up with a RP reason to let anyone die. Take Jacob. Shepard doesn't know he's going to die going through the vents. If the player behind Shepard just so happens to dislike Jacob and allows his/her Shepard to take Jacob up on his offer to go through the vents, that is still RPing.

And how is it 'petty' or 'stupid' to play a game you paid money for the way you want to play it?

Jacob has shown no aptitude whatsoever for hacking, just because he stupidly volunteers for every single position Miranda mentions doesn't mean he's a good pick. And worse, the galaxy is completely screwed when somebody as dangerous as Shepard as a character is killing people he happens to dislike. Besides, what possible reason could Shepard have for disliking Jacob? "Gee, I hate that guy. Always following orders and saluting me all time? What a jerk."

And obviously, people can play however they want, as luckily there are no actual consequences for doing so. It's still stupid and petty to get people killed because you dislike them. People are also essentially free to download music and movies illegaly. It's still piracy, even though they are highly unlikely to ever be charged with a crime. They're free to play how they like, and I'm free to express my opinion about how they play.

Did you see to it that any squad members from Mass Effect 2 did not survive the suicide mission or were killed at some point, so you wouldn't have to see them in Mass Effect 3? :bandit:

exactly... I find it more "stupid" to have everyone live... it's a SUICIDE mission after all... not everyone should make it out alive imo.

So, jacob volunteers for the vents... I let him go. Miranda wants to play biotic god... I let her do it. People may die from these decisions... but that's what I want. I want to see how it's handled in the next game... do we get Wacob and Wiranda? Or does it actually change something??

I need someone tough to take the crew back to the ship on their own... I send grunt or zaeed or whoever... they may just happen to be unloyal. lmao

It's all about RPing ... it's not petty or stupid.

yeah apparently to be agood squadmate you ahve to dumpa ll your problems on Shepard, let them fix you, and not let Shepard vent their problems. You also can't say I love you if you're in a relationship with them. You also have to whine alot when the world doesn't work the way you want. If you dno't then you're boring and stupid despite being just like a real person instead of a video game charater.Posted Image

I did, for story reasons. Although with only one exception, none of my Shepards were trying to get people killed, they were just clueless.

My Paragons, my male Vanguard and female Adept, saved everybody, but there were casualties in the other four Shepards' games. My neutral male Sentinel lost Jack, and hadn't uncorked Grunt, and he also didn’t bother to recruit Samara or Thane in the first place. My neutral Engineer didn't lose anybody, thanks to her very analytical nature, but she doesn't have Jack and Zaeed's loyalty. My Renegade Infiltrator didn’t recruit Tali, and he lost Garrus, Grunt and Thane in the Suicide Mission due to his poor choices. My Renegade Soldier is a different story. She’s a straight-up psychopath, and she made sure that everyone except Morinth and Kasumi died in the Suicide Mission. She also made sure Wrex died on Virmire, and she never recruited Garrus in ME1 (although obviously he showed up in ME2—much to his misfortune). The Normandy SR1 was pretty quiet after Virmire in that playthrough, that’s for sure.

Well putting Miranda in with Jacob as your first 2 squad members was probably not the best for him. Miranda was a much better biotic and made Jacob kinda redundant early on as a squad member. Jack and Samara also gave him too much competition. I dont have a problem with his character I just felt that it was too difficult to choose him ahead of the others.

Who said anything about Shepard disliking Jacob? I said the player behind Shepard disliking Jacob and having his/her Shepard happen to perform an action that results in Jacob's death. I happen to like Jacob and consequently my Shepard likes him. However, there could be a Shepard who dislikes how Jacob seems to challenge nearly every decision Shepard makes or feels Jacob isn't responsive enough to her advances, etc. etc. I would think anyone who is experienced in roleplaying would be able to come up with a reason for their character to like/hate any other character.

*shrugs* Again, you say it's 'stupid' and 'petty' based on nothing more than what you seem to think is the (only?) right way to play. I say it's making the game more enjoyable for yourself. Whatever. Although, piracy is a poor example as it's not open to interpretation nor opinion, you're either stealing based on your society's rules or you're not.

With my favorite sheps, everyone survives.
Right now i'm playing a run where only Kasumi and Zaeed will survive
Next run will be where only females survive.
Then I'll do a run only Samara, Kasumi, and Thane survive.
And i'll keep doing this until ME3 come out lol

Exactly. BW got too happy with the biotics in this one.  If Jacob were an engineer or even better - soldier, I would've had more use for him.

ME2: only death was Miranda, while holding the line. Very intentional.

(As for ME1, Ash died.  My buddy Wrex is a-OK.)

As for jacob, he stood in his room playing with his firing mechanism. except for that one mission where I had ZERO choice about whether he was utilized.

Everyone gets a fair shake as far as loyalty goes, however I did not talk to "it" afterwards, K?

but in ME2 biotics squaddies only actually have like one biotic power anyway and besides Jacob had pull and Miranda had warp so they comboed with each other, that being said Jacob is quite possibly the worst squadmate in ME2 since as you said there are so many others that did his job better (Grunt, Samara, even Jack if I didnt hate her)

definantly too many biotics, mass effect went from non-asari biotics are rare to every humans who has ever fought ever is biotic.

then again I think there were too many squadmates overall and they ended up being equal to about half a player at best. In ME1 for example Liara was almost as powerful as an adept shepard, if not for her half-baked AI. In ME2 Samara had a base cooldown of like 12 seconds and only had two powers WTF!  Posted Image

I side with Miranda. If Jack dies in the SM because of it, it's her fault not being loyal to me. How can I respect someone who insults me when I save their ass.

You know, I always tried to make sure I got everyone through alive, but in this case, I might just let Jack die n this way on my Earthborn Ruthless Renegade Solider... He romanced Ashley, slept with Jack (renegade, no romance) and is giong to Romance Miranda. Heh.  Total jerk.

I have one playthrough where the only ones that survived the SM were Shepard, Kasumi, Joker, & Zaeed. I then left Zaeed to die at the end of his loyalty mission.

In ME2 I don't really like Grunt, Miranda, Jacob, Samara & Zaeed... but not enough that I'd see them dead... I have only one playthrough with Grunt dead and I felt a bit bad about it. I'd happily sack them all though.

I have one file where I saved everyone (except Kaidan of course), and one file where I killed everyone I possibly could except Wrex and Ashley in the first one and Tali and Garrus in ME2.

But in retrospect, I'm thinking I should have killed Ashley instead so that she wouldn't have transferred over as my Love Interest despite my never having chosen her. All the sudden she just said something like, "Are you still willing to wait for me", and the only choices were basically "Yes", "Yes", and "Yes".

I never even did it with her.
