Maybe you could have a option where shepard runs the normandy into Harbinger or whoever the last boss is to sacrifice himself to save the galaxy? Kinda like in Dragon Age Origin, you could sacrifice yourself when you defeated the archdemon if you didn't sleep with morrigan. I think that should be a available choice.

Suicide? Only if it stopped the reapers (DA:O style), or if Shepard was indoctrinated and knew it, like Saren. A situation like "I know what they're doing to me, and I know that I'll end up killing whatever is left from the Galaxy... So I'm killing myself. **** you Harbinger, I won't be your tool."
I can't see my Shepard giving up any other way. If she can fight for the survival of a random world, she will. if it's for the survival of her ship, she will as well. If there's only lef she and her crew, she'll fight for them. My Femshep is a Survivor, and will survive until the end.

If you aspire to play a game to fail, I salute you.  I, on the other hand, play to not fail.
I'm outta here.

On a somewhat related note... replaying ME2 an additional time to see the full failure ending was an amazing experience that I'm glad I did... it's utterly hearbreaking and had me sobbing by the end... can't imagine not having seen / experienced it, one of the most emotional moments in I've felt in games, television or film.

If you haven't seen it, it's worth watching, here's a link if you're interested (obviously, ME2 ending spoilers included)

That said, I love the fully heroic paragon ending where everyone lives too just as much (not a fan of renegade ending.. I feel dirty)... but that disastrous ending made me really cry and holds a particular ... fondness.. for me (for lack of a better word).

I still get misty eyed watching it. :crying:

That was super depressing.

That would make an already pretty depressing ending even more depressing. Hope it only comes to that if you massively ballsed up.

I've been thinking of a ME2 play through where I purposely get everyone and myself killed-is it worth a run to see that ending?

suicide is for quitters, and for those who are to weak to deal with there problems

if you contemplate suicide then you dont deserve breathing space.

If we have to (but I really hate the option of suicide for your character) I think a Predator style self destruct device (why not go out with a big bang)

What If I want to commit suicide to regain my honor that was lost from allowing team members in ME2 to die? I mean if we put in Kamikaze might as well put in Seppuku via gun.

I can accept failure as an outcome with the Reapers winning and all that goes with it, but I'm not going out without a fight. Suicide is not particularly appealing.

I can see the headlines now; "Bioware/EA promote suicide in their video games!"

Who plays a game to fail?

Suikoden 2 has a "fail" ending; while you're at Tinto, your sister tries to persuade you to run away and leave it all behind. If you actually follow through, the game just ends there. I quite like fail endings in general and this is one of my favourites.

I'd love a fail ending where the reapers win, perhaps with vignettes of a few plucky humans holding out and trying to regroup or survive as they are indoctrinated or killed one by one.

The subject of actual suicide is probably too complex to resolve with "it's wrong" or "it's right". It's something people do and sometimes they do it for reasons that are valid for them. Other times they do it because they are suffering mental health difficulties and are not making good choices. Then there are other times still... Life is difficult. Anyone who's lost a friend or family member or someone else close to them to suicide will probably know like I do that there are no easy answers.

You're thinking to small, I'd 'nuke' the Galaxy into oblivion if organics faced certain defeat.

One last F-U before going out in a blast.

Nothing like self-righteous suicide to bring the galaxy back into order.

this is possibly the most emo thread I've seen, and the multiple methods thing is way over the top, but I can see shep shooting himself.

I personally love the idea of being able to walk around on the Normandy a play the game a little longer after knowing that the Reapers are going to wipe everything out. The...atmosphere of that could be incredible.

Shepard would never take the easy way out. If the Reapers win he/she would run away and hide, trying to make at least a fragment of the galactic races survive and more importantly create a new and better version of the protheans Vigil program.
