Just because some men can't take her seriously doesn't mean she can't be taken seriously~

Soldiers are required to have strength, women can't 100% compete with men on that, maybe. But what about agility and speed? Flexibility?

Lifting is not the only thing to measure a good soldier, is it?

I wanted to add that in realistic terms, FemShep as any of the other
classes other than soldier is very plausible, even the Vangaurd we can
just assume that FemShep can use her Biotic power to increase her
strength.

Everytime someone says "strength is why men are better soldiers than women lol" I Have to wonder if they think.

Hand to hand combat is very *uncommon* in most wars (for the most part) now.  If you find yourself in hand to hand combat chances are you f*cked up.

And even in hand to hand srength is *not* the only factor in victory. As the saying goes. The bigger they are the harder they fall.

She's a soldier. Say it with me, a s-o-l-d-i-e-r. She's not your average woman that the media likes to portrait. Plus, she can also find strength in her biotics/tech which anyone can learn.

Your inability to take femshep seriously is a shortcoming or your mental faculties, not a shortcoming of women in general.

Dude, as a male I do not have any problems taking both male and female Shepard seriously. It is not a secret that men have more power compared to females. You can not change everything just to make that thing realistic, too much work (I would like them to do something about that, though). Also it is a game. They both do unrealistic thing. Get over it, do not take it too seriously and enjoy your femShep run.

So men are stronger and more suited for combat than women, this is not new knowledge. It's a video game not everything is going to be realistic. They just paste female Shepard's model into the animations for male Shepard.

I believe in equality, but i know that men and women are different (we all know that). So i agree partly with the OP, but there is a lot i disagree with. It is, fully possible for any woman, as any man to train, and get endurance, constitution and strength.

And in the military you get just that, training. So much of what the OP says i think is hogwash, and despite him saying he believe in equality, it seems to me that he don't. By his examples:

And let's not forget that Shepard have cybernetic implants, perhaps this boosts Shepard's strength, endurance and consitution?

Men lifting 800 ibs weights, well i have news for you pal, that takes training, and training, anyone can do. An excellent display of ignorance, i must say.

EDIT: fixed confusing typos.

As a female soldier, I am completely offended by OP. It's already been stated and everyone knows that men and women are built differently. There are valid concerns as to why women aren't allowed on the front lines in this day and age. I still hope men and women can one day get pass them.

HOWEVER, this is a video game set in the future. I hope all these retarded stigmas regarding female inferiority are gone by then. Shepard is a genetically enhanced soldier, and she can even be a biotic. Shepard's true power lies in his/her ability to command; that does not require a person to be the strongest or the smartest.

OP: "An example would have been in the Shadow Broker DLC during the boss fight. TBH it was pretty cheesy anyway but throw femshep in there and it would have been downright cringeworthy."

In my opinion, neither of them could have done this and I know some people won't care for that idea.
I was playing one of my male Shepards when LOTSB came out. When he started fist fighting I laughed.

Therefore,in the future, the armor has assisted strength abilities, or the colonist is from a planet with gravity that would make them stronger. I go with the armor which would work equally for both Sheaprds from all backgrounds. I've read past articles that this is actually something that is being explored. By the time ME takes place I"d assume it was standard in all armor.

Blablablablablabla... *cliché*

I am bored of this type of threads.

Seriously, do you get frightened SO MUCH to see what a woman can become?

OP: So you don't think women are strong enough eh? Well, if your mother hadn't had the strength to carry you for 9 months, the strength and ability to withstand pain to give birth to you, you would not be alive.

Men and women have different cores of strength, they both bring different things to a battlefield. As stated by a post before, if you get into a hand to hand fight these days, chances are something really bad has happened. Most combat is now done at range, you only need to be strong enough to carry your weapon and kit, and guess what, they train everyone to do that in the military these days.

That said, it's a game, it's the future and according to the story Shep (in either guise) is highly modified by cybernetics.

So you can't take Femshep seriously? As a bloke myself, I can't take you seriously and feel somewhat ashamed you are of my gender.

Thank you for serving.  Much respect to you.

Also, I think dudes like OP love to point out flaws in others in order to deflect from their own inferiority. I see it all the time. Mr. "I'm so buff and manly and I can't buy into a female video character being able to do things that a male character can do. Oh, hey Garrus! I totally know a Turian back on Earth like you. He lives in Alabama."

That sounds more like crysis than mass effect, no thanks.

What makes no sense is how the game wants to have it both ways.

The npc females in the game and majority of created femsheps, are attractive with nice bodies...but at the same time we're supposed to take them seriously as soldiers.

I could take female shepard more seriously if she looked the part.  The player model is just too frail looking.  Say what you want about somewomen being as strong as men or whatever, the ones that typical are don't look like barbie dolls.

What you seem to be saying is that a woman can't attractive and be a soldier. Again offended.

The only thing I will agree with you on is that yes the LotSB cutscenes looked unrealistic. This is a science fiction video game though! You didn't account for the fact that female Shepard at this point with genetic modifications/armor enhancements/biotics is stronger than any normal soldier. Miranda is attractive because she was genetically altered to be perfect. All Asari have biotic capabilities which does not require muscle strength.

Besides all of that, the vast majority of combat is gun to gun. If a drop dead gorgeous woman with a loaded gun and a 280 lb male weightlifter with a knife had to fight each other to the death...who would win?

What the **** is that? Women have to look serious and fugly if they want to server? I assure you, when I was doing basic training they didn't look ugly or serious. I rise my hat for them since it's voluntary for women here in Finland.

People just talk crap because they have no idea.

But in all honesty, I think my point is valid, even if I did put it across a little too bluntly, others have explained it more eloquently.
Anyone denying my point outright or calling me sexist is just plain ignorant.

This thread was designed to get a rise out of feminists, which is always fun to watch :D
