  I'm sure this has been brought up before, & maybe i'm late but I havn't heard a developer comment on this. Considering that Ash/kaiden could have been killed off in ME1 things seem to be different in ME2 where there appearence are dumbed down, whereas Liara is there for a major part of the game including DLC, Liara goes through a Dynamic change over the course of the game. If anything I would think there would more so be a DLC to help continue romances for Ash or Kaiden considering how you got to speak with them for all of 5 seconds. It's almost as if the developers are trying to force Liara upon the players.

What do you think? Do you think the romance of either Ashley or Kaiden  are also going to be lowered in comparison to Liara in ME3? Or since one of them are alive either way there is still some sort of larger romance awaiting in the next game?

If anything, I think Liara will have less interaction in ME3, since to some extent she and Shepard are on the same page when the game begins, whereas Ashley/Kaidan have some catching up to do. I don't see what Shepard and Liara would really need to iron out at this point. They'll probably still have some romance moments, but I can't imagine there would be any big scenes. LotSB kind of took care of the reconciliation/reconnection. Horizon, on the other hand, was a big cliffhanger for Sheps who romanced Ashley and Kaidan.

And it's important to note that even though Ashley or Kaidan can be dead in a given playthrough, the other one is alive, so every game will have ONE of those characters. It's not like the Council, Shiala, Wrex, the Rachni Queen, etc., who can be dead in any given playthrough. Every ME3 game will have either Ashley or Kaidan as a character.
