I still get the "Can't connect to the database" error. The first time I installed the Toolset, everything worked just fine, but then I uninstalled it when my saved games got corrupted (by the know plot flag issue). I reinstalled the toolset again, but this time I am getting the "can't connect to the database" error. I was thinking about uninstalling both the Toolset and the SQL database, but I don't want to do that unless I know it won't mess up my main campaign.
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

OK. I managed to get the Toolset Wiki up (first time in a long time). Therefore I was able to look up the Wiki to see if I could find some answers. Here is what I was able to glean, however, the issue is still not resolved.
1. When I open up SQL Server Configuration Manager, I see that the SQL Server (BWDADATOOLSET) service is "Stopped". Naturally, I try to start it and get an error message.
2. I go to the event viewer (Control Panel ---> Admin Tools ---> Event Viewer), under Windows Logs, System, I see the fail event and get the following error:
The SQL Server (BWDATOOLSET) service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the path specified.
Event ID 7000
I checked the paths in the "Advanced Tab" of SQL Server (BWDATOOLSET) service, and it seems that there is nothing there. The Install Path for this thing is C:\\Program Files\\Dragon Age\\tools\\toolssql\\MSSQL.1\\, but my own directory only has C:\\Program Files\\Dragon Age\\tools\\toolssql and a data folder that is blank ...
Did SQL not install properly or something?

Sorry I keep answering my own post ... here is something that looks like something that is helpful to me, but I have no clue how to do what it is saying ...
Some users report that the installer fails to create the SQL database (e.g. your Dragon Age\\toolssql\\data folder is empty). You can enter the following command to try restoring the database manually (Change the paths to bw_dragonage_content.bak and your Dragon Age folder as appropriate): "C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft SQL Server\\90\\Tools\\Binn\\"sqlcmd -S .\\BWDATOOLSET -E -Q "RESTORE DATABASE bw_dragonage_content FROM DISK = 'C:\\Program Files\\Dragon Age\\tools\\dbbak\\bw_dragonage_content.bak' WITH MOVE 'bw_dragonage_content' TO 'C:\\Program Files\\Dragon Age\\tools\\toolssql\\Data\\bw_dragonage_content.mdf', MOVE 'bw_dragonage_content_Log' TO 'C:\\Program Files\\Dragon Age\\tools\\toolssql\\Data\\bw_dragonage_content.ldf'"
You need to allow Users to Modify the DATA folder, before you can execute this command.
Help?

OK. I figured out how to try to do the thing from above. Go to CMD (Start ---> Run, then type CMD in the box). This gives you an old DOS like window. The Paste that command into the black box:
I did that and now get another error message as follows:
What do I do with that?
"C:\\\\Program Files\\\\Microsoft SQL Server\\\\90\\\\Tools\\\\Binn\\\\"sqlcmd -S .\\\\BWDATOOLSET -E -Q "RESTORE DATABASE bw_dragonage_content FROM DISK = 'C:\\\\Program Files\\\\Dragon Age\\\\tools\\\\dbbak\\\\bw_dragonage_content.bak' WITH MOVE 'bw_dragonage_content' TO 'C:\\\\Program Files\\\\Dragon Age\\\\tools\\\\toolssql\\\\Data\\\\bw_dragonage_content.mdf', MOVE 'bw_dragonage_content_Log' TO 'C:\\\\Program Files\\\\Dragon Age\\\\tools\\\\toolssql\\\\Data\\\\bw_dragonage_content.ldf'"
I did that and now get another error message as follows:
...snip... An error has occirred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections.. ...snip...
What do I do with that?

Bahhhhh!!
I've tried everything including a manual install of SQL -- I give up.

When you did the manual install, did you uninstall SQL Server 2005 first, or did you manually install over top? Cause that won't work, you gotta uninstall it first.

I uninstalled first. I think it somehow got confused b/c I think I only uninstalled the Toolset last time. I just uniinstalled again and noticed there was an option to do Toolset Only, Toolset and MSSQL (leave database), and Toolset, MSSQL and Delete DB
I uninstalled with option 3 this time and I am going to reboot and reinstall from scratch.
I'll let you know how it goes.

OK. It looks like it is working now. Here is what *I* did.
1. I uninstalled the Toolset, making sure to select the option to uninstall the Toolset, SQL, and to delete the database.
2. I went to my Control Panel --> Programs and Features and made sure that there was nothing present that looked, smelled, or even hinted at being SQL.
3. I rebooted
4. I re-downloaded the toolset
5. I reinstalled the toolset (completely default) no monkeying around
6. It worked
So anyone else out there with this issue, perhaps you can try this as well?
