So, my basic question: does it matter?

Since there are no limitations listed on the weapons themselves, I would assume that it does NOT matter. However I am used to other games where weapons are not only classified as such, but it also becomes advantageous to switch depending on the speed of the weapon (if main/off restriction is not specified).

I generally wouldn't even post this at all, but there are two end-game daggers Carta's Right-Hand and Carta's Left-Hand. Keeping that in mind, I was wondering if any of the theorycrafters have done any testing regarding this.

When I get new daggers, I tend to just double-click on the best one and it automatically goes on the right hand side (left slot) and then I place the second best dagger in the other slot. Sometime I will switch them depending on the appereance of the daggers to suit my preference, and I was wondering if this gimped me at all.

It doesn't matter.
You're probably still thinking in terms of DA:O where your damage changes a bit depending on whether the best weapon was in the left or right hand.
