Alright slow down a second; I know I might be getting ahead of myself but I read (in Phaedon's Blog) that it's been confermed that the VS is a Spectre....I don't really see this as true for multiple reasons... I'll get them out of the way...

-----
Ashley

1.) Is a racist.

2.) Is a xenophobe.

3.) Was completely incapable of handling two Geth in Mass Effect 1.

4.) Showed no ability to lead or command respect other than being a wannabe "Ripley".

5.) Is overly Emotional.
-----
Kaiden

1.) Is easily bothered.

2.) Is overly Emotional but to a lesser degree as Ashley.

3.) Didn't really care for the council but he wasn't a racist.

4.) Argued a little with authority?
-----
Both

1.) Couldn't handle their jobs alone in Mass Effect 1 causing the other to die; where as Shepard basically is a one man army.

2.) Neither over-came over-whelming odds.

3.) Both screwed up on Horizon (sp?).

4.) Neither seemingly collected any rational data on Horizon.

5.) Neither are capable of rational thought or logic.
-----

Now there is also one major thing that bothered me about this... They've said already that a "Luke I am your Father" type twist is going to be in the game...Well my guess is that the VS (considering the Collectors/Reapers basically left them on Horizon but took nearly everyone else) has been secretly implanted with some form of control device or implanted with some cyborgnetics in general by the Collectors and or Reapers during their time in Stasis on Horizon. So if its true that they are a Spectre (but neither really deserves it above anyone else...Zaeed should be the second Human Spectre if anything hah) then this could be the big twist.

In any-case; what do you guys think about this information? What are your opinions? I'm not looking for a rage-war or a flame-war; though the fanboys will start something I'm sure.

So mature comments only please Posted Image

First off, the Spectre thing hasn't been confirmed. Its still just a rumor, albeit a rumor based on what we know thus far.

And I didn't get too far into your post and I apologize for that, but the moment I saw "racist" and "xenophobe" as factual remarks for Ash, I knew that it was best if I didn't continue reading.

Sorry about that.

It's a game and fictional thing; I can't see why you fanboys get so pissed about these things. In anycase she may not be a "super" racist/xenophobe but she is a low tier one. It's kind of the difference between a racist supporter group (Cerberus) vs a person who just dislikes aliens due to their up-bringing. Either way it still makes them sound like an ass when they say anything.

Either way - this thread/topic isn't about "who said what" or "who did what" - this is a "Why is the VS a Spectre" thread/topic. So don't get your panties in a bunch.

Well I stopped reading your post when you said "first off"... I hate when people start a sentence that way.:P

I saw a change in Ash/Kaiden on Horizon; Ashley became a simple minded emotionally driven asswipe and Kaiden similar but at least he seems more apologetic than she did.

Stopped reading after you called Ashley a racist. Honest to god, i wonder if people are slightly aware of how uneducated they sound when they say things like that.

I think it's pretty cool that they become spectres. They were both impressive soldiers and they were part of the team that took down Saren, that's probably enough to become an agent. Although, in my opinion Kaidan would make the better spectre because he seems more level-headed and thoughtful.

By the way, while I agree with you when you said Ash is a xenophobe, you are going to get a lot of flak for calling her a racist.

Kaiden's past and what he goes through from day to day makes him a prime candidate for being a Spectre.

He's one of the strongest human biotics, he's part of the TEAM that took down Saren and the Geth, and he's a versatile combatant.

I all capped team because Shepherd needed a team, not just himself. Don't believe me, then stop playing on casual. :P

I still find it hilarious that you present emotional aspects of a character as factual reason as to why (s)he should not be a Spectre.

Your post and this thread is not valid and should be dumped. Any post that mentions fanboys in the 1st post and then says 'don't flame me bro, mature comments only' is not worth the letters punched on the keyboard.

Don't get me wrong I think Kaiden is really intelligent but I just felt really stumped when both of them (even Ash!) just went ape**** on me during the Horizon thing! I felt like Ashley became very narrow minded (even when shes your LI) and Kaiden seemed just really pissed off. In the first game I kind of expected one of them to die but I thought it would be more heroic than what really happened; especially the one with the Salarian team you know? I thought they'd be smarter or more evolved in the 2nd game but it felt like they were just..not themselves...I believe humanity and people in general can change but it seemed like Ash got worse and Kaiden was just a more pissed off version of himself. Hell I thought if either were your LI they'd be really happy to see you and even want to stand with you no matter what.

Also - to the people who are friggen saying I'm wrong for the racist comments; its true. While it may not be a high degree of racism I say she is one as she complained about the aliens on the ship and she really got up Liara's ass. Not to mention I use xenophobic in the term it kind of means - she fears what she hates; which in real life majority of people who hate something or someone or a group of people generally fear the reality of them taking power or something.

Anyway thanks for the mature responses (even if they were few); and thanks for the uh...immature ones...really points out who I have to ignore...

Thanks guys - cheers =D!

PS...I was an Ashley fan and I still am a Kaiden fan; and I believe Kaiden should definately be a Spectre.

What's so funny about that? Would the council really make someone a spectre if their emotions could get in the way of their mission?

So she's both a racist and a xenophobe? Just how exactly is she both?

Actually one of the demos from E3, the one on Earth when Shepard gets on the Normandy, Ashley is in Spectre armor.  You can see the Spectre logo on her glove.  Unless they change that between now and March, I say the VS is a Spectre.  Even one of the pictures of Kaidan is wearing Spectre armor, once again, you can see the Spectre logo.

You can't blame the VS for Horizon. That was completely beyond their control due to the seeker swarms.

I was going to say that I respect your thoughts on the issue, but respectfully disagree, and then I saw your reply to someone's post where you called Ashley a simple minded emotionally driven asswipe and realized that trying to have a intelligent discussion with you would be fruitless.

I feel the VS would be good candidates for being a spectre

They aren't Mary-sue Shepard who can single handily defeat the repears, but they are competent soldiers. Also first contact wasn't that long ago and many of your crew never served with aliens before. A lot can change in 2-3 years. And you had an option to be a Alien hating racist Shepard and still become a spectre. Not saying any of your points are valid.

Have you seen the Kaidan/Ash conversation on Horizon? I understand why you think LeVaughn's comment was silly, but it's not that far from the truth.

I agree that in some ways she is racist, but i think she is unintentionally racist. She doesn't hate them. She just thinks "Oh gosh, what are they doing!" After matriarch Benezia dies. Ashley says you should comfort Liara. On the other hand she has that racist eye when if you kill Wrex.

It amazes me that people are still able to label Ashley a racist/xenephobe when she specifically says that she does NOT hate aliens. She does not trust that aliens will be by humanity's side when their back's are against the wall. That's it. Nothing more. Nothing less. Although it's a fairly cynical view, I see it as a rational one.

And how did the TC get from - Ashley/Kaiden was very emotional/irrational on Horizon - to - Ashley/Kaiden is now incapable of rational thought?

You took my logic, and I want it back.
