And if that means working with Cerberus to destroy Collectors, because Alliance won't do a damn thing, then so be it. Both Ashley and Kaidan should know, that Shepard was doing this for good intentions. If they felt so close to Shepard as they were ****ing about it, then they should had a little faith in him/her.
But on topic: If there has to be one of them spectre, then Kaidan would be better for the job.

Yeah she send you a message, right? I think this is just in case when you romance her, because I don't remember getting that mail (I've never romanced her). So, actually she apologise only to her lover, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Subject: Hey there.
Shepard-
I'm sorry for what I said back on Horizon. When I lost you two years ago, it tore me up. I prayed for you every day. I read a lot of Tennyson, thinking about you, just like I did when my dad passed. And then you came back, and it was like my prayers were answered. But I'm not who I was then, and neither are you.
I don't know what's true anymore. Part of me can't believe it's really you. I keep going back to that night before Ilos, our night... I haven't let myself think about those memories in over a year.
I wouldn't have expected you to work for Cerberus, but I know why they sent you to Horizon. I saw how many people were lost there, and if anyone can stop the Collectors, you can. I can't go where you're going, but I can wish you luck.
Just stay alive out there... Skipper. I don't know what the future holds, but I can't lose you a second time.

Shepard,
I'm sorry for what I said back on Horizon. I spent two years pulling myself back together after you went down with the Normandy. It took me a long time to get over my guilt for surviving and move on. I'd finally let my friends talk me into going out for drinks with a doctor on the Citadel. Nothing serious, but trying to let myself have a life again, you know?
Then I saw you, and everything pulled hard to port. You were standing in front of me, but you were with Cerberus. I guess I really don't know who either of us is anymore. Do you even remember that night before Ilos? That night meant everything to me... maybe it meant as much to you. But a lot has changed in the last two years and I can't just put that aside.
But please be careful. I've watched too many people close to me die -- on Eden Prime, on Virmire, on Horizon, on the Normandy. I couldn't bear it if I lost you again. If you're still the woman I remember I know you'll find a way to stop these Collector attacks. But Cerberus is too dangerous to be trusted. Watch yourself.
When things settle down a little... maybe... I don't know. Just take care.

yes, that was the idea. Same with the awful Liara thing on Ilium before the release of LOTSB
I have been saying this since ME2 came out. The developers steered people in the arms of the new LIs so they could high five one another and "track the cheaters" with the hooks they left in the game
sorry, I feel the cheapened the whole thing. and pissed a lot of people off
I swear the only reason I want Ash on the normandy in ME3 is to call her on the BS she gave me on horizon

1. While neither Kaiden nor Ash showed Spectre material in ME we have to assume they have changed during the course of ME2, and if the alliance made a push to have either one become a Spectre it might have been a diplomatic bone rather than a proof of skill.LeVaughnX wrote...
Alright slow down a second; I know I might be getting ahead of myself but I read (in Phaedon's Blog) that it's been confermed that the VS is a Spectre....I don't really see this as true for multiple reasons... I'll get them out of the way...
-----
Ashley
1.) Is a racist.
2.) Is a xenophobe.
3.) Was completely incapable of handling two Geth in Mass Effect 1.
4.) Showed no ability to lead or command respect other than being a wannabe "Ripley".
5.) Is overly Emotional.
-----
Kaiden
1.) Is easily bothered.
2.) Is overly Emotional but to a lesser degree as Ashley.
3.) Didn't really care for the council but he wasn't a racist.
4.) Argued a little with authority?
-----
Both
1.) Couldn't handle their jobs alone in Mass Effect 1 causing the other to die; where as Shepard basically is a one man army.
2.) Neither over-came over-whelming odds.
3.) Both screwed up on Horizon (sp?).
4.) Neither seemingly collected any rational data on Horizon.
5.) Neither are capable of rational thought or logic.
-----
Now there is also one major thing that bothered me about this... They've said already that a "Luke I am your Father" type twist is going to be in the game...Well my guess is that the VS (considering the Collectors/Reapers basically left them on Horizon but took nearly everyone else) has been secretly implanted with some form of control device or implanted with some cyborgnetics in general by the Collectors and or Reapers during their time in Stasis on Horizon. So if its true that they are a Spectre (but neither really deserves it above anyone else...Zaeed should be the second Human Spectre if anything hah) then this could be the big twist.
In any-case; what do you guys think about this information? What are your opinions? I'm not looking for a rage-war or a flame-war; though the fanboys will start something I'm sure.
So mature comments only please
2. If fiction means you can't be emotionally attached to something then why do we need it at all? the reason fiction has any relevance at all is because we as humans are driven by our emotions to escape, reflect, draw connections, and most importantly care about things, after all living creatures are just blobs of flesh meat and bone if there were no emotionel ties present.
3. they way you present your argument is biast at best, and if you want a mature discoussion about fiction then you can't expect people to be unbiased if you aren't able to be so yourself.
4. Sorry for all the finger pointing it just bothered me.

So she's both a racist and a xenophobe? Just how exactly is she both?
Quite easily actually:
Racist:
- The belief that each race has distinct and intrinsic attributes.
- The belief that one race is superior to all others.
- Prejudice or discrimination based upon race.
- One who fears that which is unknown; one who fears people who are different from oneself, especially in the case of foreign people
You can hate something and fear it at the sametime, can you not? Fear of the unknown...leading to hate.
But back to the original topic, I don't mind having either be a spectre if it turns out to be true. *Edit* Format got all screwy on me, try to deal with it.

no seriously, it was HORRIBLE writing, almost as horrible as shepard not doing anything about having to work with Cerberus even with a sole survivor background. No wonder a lot of people begun to dislike and demonize Ashley an Kaidan
The worst part about it was that there was no plot reason for the VS to be so antagonistic. It served no purpose other than to make them look stupid. I makes you think, maybe the writters do love Liara alittle too much and were purposely sabotaging the other ME1 LIs.
oh no...remember Liara BEFORE LOTSB?
it was just as bad if not worse because she actively chose the pursue of revenge for another man over her own paramour and helping him in a mission in which odds were he would have never made it out alive
until LOTSB I always romanced Tali because Liara plain and simple rejected my shepard for someone else or at least that is how it felt
Liara refuses to go with you and is obcesed over her own stuff. She doesn't berate you and act like you're a traitor. I never took it as her picking another man over Shepard. I'm not that insecure to think that she can't have platonic friends and family other than Shepard that she would care about. The only problem with Liara's scene is that it is badly written. You're left unsure as to exactly what your relationship is. She starts off kissing you and then it's just like any other non-romance encounter. But I'm not referring to romance. Simply, the VS reaction to Shepard period - romance or not.

it is not a matter of insecurity, it's a matter of perspective
She goes through god knows how much to get you back to Cerberus so they may bering you back but she feels like crap about it. Once you have forgiven her she still basically says "sorry shepard, I know you might very well die permanently this time around but I am still not coming with you in spite of our relationship.....I'll just stick here to try and find the shadow broker and avenge Feron"
even if all they had was a platonic friendship she still chooses him over me....and he is, for all she knows, already dead....I'm her lover and I am ALIVE
to me that stung more than the VS BS on Horizon

A Specter needs to be able to get the job done at ALL costs, no matter what. And so far in the Mass Effect series, neither of them have done anything to help elevate them to that status. Except for stopping Saren, but even then, they didn't call the shots or run the show, they were just tag alongs.
I don't like either of them, but I will take Ashley any day of the week over Kaiden. The whole racist thing is a bummer with her, that's why I romanced Liara and Liara is better looking, and plus Kaiden is SSSSOOOOOOOO BORING to listen to. His monotone voice once put me to sleep, if my phone didn't go off I probably wouldn't have woken up.

You really show how uneducated you are when you call Ashley a racist/xenophobe. Let's say you are a crew member of a highly advanced submarine equipped with near perfect stealth, and can launch nukes at any part of the world. All of a sudden your Captain starts letting Russians, Iranians, and Chinese soldiers on board. Are you gonna sit there and tell me that you wouldn't be the least bit cautious towards these guys?
You know what? I kinda like the idea of some people being too stupid to realize Ashley isn't a racist. It gives players like me a more exclusive feeling knowing that we belong to a group who has more brains than the other.

Because all her comments regarding aliens in ME1 (vocal concerns about Wrex and Vakarian tinkering with their ship, "I can't tell the aliens from the animals," etc) and her statement that "I don't like aliens" on Horizon in ME2, are clearly not indicative of at least minial amounts of chauvinism, jingoism, and prejudice.

That has to do with her being a soldier and not wanting technological secrets being so easily available to other species... who could very well one day, or even now, be enemies....it's like the one guy said about the submarine and you start letting members of other countries' militaries on board.... most soldiers and going to be unsure and cautious towards them. Actually, if I recall correctly... she says, "I'm no fan of aliens" ..... which doesn't necessarily means she HATES aliens... like if I said, "I'm no fan of the beetles" ... that doesn't mean I hate them.

The ignorance of some people truly makes my skin crawl. We live in such a politically correct society it's almost impossible to not be called a racist at some point in your life. For all the people who are STILL calling Ashley a racist, you need to stop acting all high and mighty. Every single human being is capable of some form of intolerance. Like if the FBI taped all of your phone conversations, board posts and texts for the past year, i guarantee you wouldn't have a job by monday.
You really show how uneducated you are when you call Ashley a racist/xenophobe. Let's say you are a crew member of a highly advanced submarine equipped with near perfect stealth, and can launch nukes at any part of the world. You know what? I kinda like the idea of some people being too stupid to realize Ashley isn't a racist. It gives players like me a more exclusive feeling knowing that we belong to a group who has more brains than the other.
"Racism is the belief that there are inherent differences in people's traits and capacities that are entirely due to their race, however defined, and that, as a consequence, justify the different treatment of those people, both socially and legally."
Would I jump on the race bandwagon and assume that all Iranians, Chinese, and Russians have views antithetical to those that characterize an America's outlook in a sensitive American subsidized mission? No. I would first observe their actions and would only take action if it bears a strong similitude to that of a hyper-nationalistic and socially harmful viewpoint. Would I be cautious out of some sense of genetic/racial/physical superiority and the need to preserve this alleged superiority? No.
Ashley's perspective is directed towards a good majority of the aliens in the Mass Effect universe. She has misconceptions about Garrus because she assumes he holds an anti-human viewpoint that all Turians hold from the First Contact War, and could thus jeopardize their mission.
The Krogan have never done anything to humans on a large scale and yet, Ashley is also suspicious of his intent. If that is not indicative of racism, then I do not know what is.
She also insults Liara's physical appearence (blue skin, tentacle head) during the romance conflict and uses it to imply several things about her character. Please refer to the "racism" definition above and form a final conclusion.
Time and time again, Ashley crosses the attenuated line between racism and race nationalism in ME1. Although she does make several attempts to interact with other races in ME1, her anti-alien statement in ME2 does not further her cause.
Often times, those who accuse others of political-correctness with respect to race relations are themselves, racists.

Refer to my previous post. She's just being irrational here. That has to do with her being a soldier and not wanting technological secrets being so easily available to other species... who could very well one day, or even now, be enemies....it's like the one guy said about the submarine and you start letting members of other countries' militaries on board.... most soldiers and going to be unsure and cautious towards them. White people look like donkeys. Its just a comment on their appearance and not meant to be offensive. That's just a comment on their appearance... how turians may look like birds or hanar like jellyfish.
Ultimately, the intent is what matters and Ashley's intent was anything but innocuous.
I'm no fan of Indians. It doesn't necessarily mean I HATE Indians.Actually, if I recall correctly... she says, "I'm no fan of aliens" ..... which doesn't necessarily means she HATES aliens... like if I said, "I'm no fan of the beetles" ... that doesn't mean I hate them.
Do you have any idea how idiotic this sounds? Comments like that blur the line between racism and stereotypes, hate and dislike.
Plus she speaks out against the Terra Firma party and Cerberus, two groups known to hate aliens and promote humanity above all else.
I "speak out" against the Republican Party, which is known to be full of racists, bigots, nationalists, conservatives, etc. Does that mean I oppose their political and economic ideology?

On Eden prime Shepard lost one of his squad to a pair of recon drones, Nihlus was killed, Saren escaped with no "proof" that he was there (except the dock workers word which should have been accepted, how the f*ck would he know Saren's name and everything council?, but I digress) the beacon was destoryed after it smacked the sh!t out of Shepard.
So far Shepard was mostly a failure to some for good reason, but he had potential.
