It wasn't a terrible RPG. On the fly weapon mods and armor mods were a nice idea, but poorly implemented. M2 removed both features for some reason instead of improving on it.

So BioWare tries to attract Douchebags in their ranks or the journalist is just being a moron ?

I mean... God damnit this kind of stuff ****** me off ! BioWare is a bunch of nerds doing nerds things for nerds. and the BSN is just one of the Biggest nerd community of all time.

Douchebags got their Shooter crap, can we have our intelligent good games ? I don't expect from a Douchebag to watch Super 8 or to understand Black Swan like I don't want them to take over Mass Effect. It's exactly the kind of ****s who spitted on Star Trek and now they want a part of the priiiiiiiiize... <_<

i absolutely hate this pretentious attitude when talking about shooters and action games. liking them does not make you dumb, it does not mean you have bad taste. it doesnt mean any of that stuff. i absolutely love mass effect for what it is, but why does that mean i cant love shooters for what they are?

gears of war is an absolutely great third person shooter series, pushing the genre forward. it absolutely influenced ME2 and it'll influence ME3 and thats a GOOD thing.

same with other shooters and action games. its not dumb, its just a different type of game. take your bad attitude and elitism to somewhere where people actually care, cus you just look like an elitist douche when you generalize and bad mouth entire genres without knowing what you're talking about. its disgusting.

ill remember your name and i wont respect you for now on. simply pathetic.

Haristo's alright. There are far worse elitists (G9, TK, ML, S4S) who give normal fans a bad name.

Geez, all this RPG fan hate and shooter fan hate is so incredibly tired. Can we stop saying that genre fans are awful, useless human beings please? It just makes you look kind of jaded and deranged.

Gatt9, Terror K, Sympathy4Saren... only one I can't name is ML.

The 'shooter fans are all frat boy douchebags lolol' attitude is kind of ironic.

What's funny is all the RPG fans flaming shooters and then putting ME (a shooter) up on a pedestal

Also reminds me of those who think arthouse, indie movies and classical music are the only mediums worth watching/listening to and anyone who doesn't is an inferior, less intelligent person.

I honestly don't get Bioware most of the time.

Hopefully they'll make good on their promise to add more RPG elements.

Regarding the RPGCodex grognards, I gotta respect their attitude.

There's no point in being elitist about any sort of genre. If all you like is RPGs, that's fine, but don't go bashing on other genres just because they don't appeal to you.

To be fair there is a pretty wide intellectual divide between something like 2001: A Space Odyssey and Saw V

The films themselves, definitely, but the gap isn't as wide when it comes to individuals who act all high and mighty and base their 'intellect' on a form of entertainment.

OH ! Oh Noez ! I've got not respected by ClonedZero because I have a different opinion.

look. I hate this ****ing brainless shooter genre and Mass Effect is one of the firsts games of this ''category'' to be a good one. Because the shooter elements are secondary and the Roleplaying elements are nicely made. And I don't want to see this great franchise becoming another ****ing redneck brainless stupid shooter.

It's not even about ''Console ****'', I like consoles and I like PC. it's about something on most of the whole FPS (Excluding Team Fortress 2) and sometimes TPS (including Gears of War) that wants to make you feel stupid and where you just don't have any right to think with your brain. It's just moving, shoot and don't ask questions... and it sucks.

And I don't want to see fans of this genre coming here and transform Mass Effect into one of those. I just don't like them, their online behaviour (totally unable to get an intelligent response, doesn't cooperate nor work teamed, insults, ruin the memes and the jokes...) makes me puke. They are not what I think should be a video game, so I drop them into their little corner and make my fun without them. I just don't want them to come and claim this stuff...

Comics we're once a nerd things, the entire community filled of guys like Linkara... Today everyone read comic books and under the pressure of a growing audience, arrived some compagnies like Image Comics, or some ''crossovers'' like asking The Ultimate Warrior to write some comics...  I don't want video games to become like comic books, but I know it will be...

I'm just a nostalgic fighting for a Status Quo...

Mass Effect was always a shooter first and a RPG second.

ME1 was both a terrible shooter and a terrible RPG with a cast of excellent characters and a gripping story.

ME2 was an improvement in both areas while cutting of all the excess waste that bogged down ME1, while expanding the character roster and exploring the universe and the motives of the central enemy in the series.

ME3 is shaping up to actually be a good, maybe even excellent shooter on par with the other titles on the market, with the exception of having slim and well-implemented RPG features such as extensive choices and dialogues, streamlined armor and weapon customization, squadmate interactions and more than just a throwaway single-player storyline.

Haters gonna hate.

Obviously Haristo has never actually played Gears of War before, otherwise he'd realize Mass Effect already turned into it with ME2.

You know, direct yourselves to the romance forum and I'll think you see we don't have the ground to be elitist.

Unless you're an old Baldur's Gate grognard.
