Greetings,

I am by no means a Custom Content creator.  I love these forums and watch all of your work with utter amazement at the talent represented here.  Some day when I have a ton of time on my hands, I may try my hand at it myself, but just don't have the time now for the learning curve.

I do have a request for any of you out there that would be interested.  It seems like it would be simple enough, but then again I have no real idea.

What I'm looking for is a duplication of the various light beams in the Special Effects section of Placeables that are modified.  The modification would be that as of now all these beams are "vertical" or straight up and down, hereinafter 90 degrees.  I would like to see a version of each beam at 60, 45, 30 and 0 (horizontal) degrees.

Is this doable?  Easily?  Any volunteers?

Any takers? If it's not an easy project, I understand. I just thought the concept useful in may instances.

Sorry, I can't help, but I love the suggestion as it's something that's had me miffed for ages. Even a slight angle on them would make for a more natural appearance. Great for inside a ruin that's above ground.

Great idea - working on it now. I'll post them to the Vault once they are done. All you'll need to do is dupe the 2da entries and add them in. Image IPB

In fact, its such a good idea I think I'd like to see them in Project Q. Image IPB

UPDATE: After am hour tweaking emitter settings I just can't get an effect that looks good. Turns out its not as simple as just angling the emitter.

You could experiment with setting 'beaming' to 1 for a plane in the aurora trimesh modifier, though you can probably not change the colour of the light beam.

To Answer sen...

Possible uses:

Creating a bridge of light across walkable water using multiple connecting angled beams
A visible effect to signify a trap via a horizontal beam
Simulating light entering an area at an angle
Simulating light refracting from gems or crystals

There are other uses I'm sure but those are the ones that have come to mind and prompted the post.

Do you mean the placeables like "Lightshaft, Red", "Lightshaft, Yellow Large" and so on? Those guys?

chico400 made some placeable angled light shafts that I used in my Stained glass windows. nwvault.ign.com/fms/Image.php Perhaps those would make a base to work from. I can't find the individual Vault entry so you could pull them from mine. nwvault.ign.com/View.php
