Preach it! I seriously don't want to start using Vista instead of XP.

Go to Windows 7.

You're going to have to eventually.  It's amazing how much people are resisting this change.  Windows XP is over ten years old now.  It's day has come and gone.

I still only use black and white televisions. I must resist change.  :bandit:

This is an interesting development. Looks like EA wants to avoid paying licensing fees to Epic by using internally created technology instead.

By the time they start developing another game, Frostbite 2 will be mostly obsolete.

But then again, look at Unreal Tournament 3.

Ahh.. you may want to actually read posts in the future and not just the title of it.

The OP is proposing the idea that Bioware SHOULD use frostbite 2 for their future games... not that they currently are (granted OP title is misleading). Mass Effect 3 hasn't even been released so it's a safe bet they haven't even begun design concepts on a new ME game yet... let alone decided what engine to use for it.

From what ive seen of the frostbite2 engine, it seems amazing.

I would love to see future Mass effect games use it.

Oh and the issue of Windows, its worth upgrading to Windows7 from Xp just for the better security features. i went from Xp to Win7 about 6 months ago. I find it a far better OS than XP by far.

I see. But they are using Frostbite for the new Need for Speed game, so I wouldn't be surprised if all of EA's internal studios ended up using it.

I still think UE3 is better. But I'm biased.

I wouldn't be surprised either, especially with rumors that Mirror's Edge 2 will be powered by Frostbite 2.

I think all game engines have their benefits. The Tech demo at GDC 2011 for UE3 had made some noticable improvements, i'm keen to see Unreal Engine 4 which is rumored to be shown at GDC 2012.

I've clarified the Thread title, hopefully it is no longer Misleading. Sorry.

Why not?

DA3 is using it isn't it? Would make sense for ME4 to do the same.

The Frostbite 2 engine sucks ass.
For destruction it's always Geomod 2.0
For realism it's always the CryEngine 3
For kids it's always the IW Engine
For physics it's always the Euphoria Engine (Best...ragdoll..ever...)

The UE3 is now outdated. The UE4 would be perfect for ME4.

As mediocre as the campaign for Battlefield 3 was, the in-engine cutscenes were very impressive. I suggest you take a gander at them on Youtube. Of course it's impossible to tell how it would mesh with the Mass Effect art style, but it's a good impression of the improvements it would bring to character models and animations.
As much as I like the CryEngine (or at least within the Crysis games) it doesn't seem to have caught on, not even internally at EA. Don't know why though..
