Just a thought. With some of the talk of bringing back characters who died over the last 2 games from the dead. You think it would be interesting if the VS who didn't survive would come back from the dead?

I don't know how it would be possible since Kaidan/Ashley would of been automized by the bomb. But I think it would be an interesting plot twist since it's one of Shepard's tougher choices to make in ME1. It'll be great for thoes of us who dislike Ashley to have her as Shepard's nemesis.

"I don't like aliens, accept god as your savior." I want to punch her for that alone. xp

They got incinerated by a nuke. Bringing them back would be unrealsitic and would cheapen the decision from ME1.

No, don't! OP will punch you in the face for having your own personal beliefs!

Seriously though, I cannot stress enough how horrible that idea is.

1.) Ashley says it doesn't matter what you believe in.
2.) other VS was likely sitting ON the bomb as it went off. If not they were 100's of feet away.
3.) it was a nucelar explosion.
4.) it was a nucelar explosion.
5.) IT WAS A NUCLEAR EXPLOSION.

I assumed Kaidan's hairstyle would've deflected the blast. No such luck, I suppose.

I can't see either of them coming back as an antagonist against Shepard either. I mean, they set the bomb themselves and/or argue to save the other.

SEriously, what is with this?  When doesshe ever try to push her personal beliefs on you?  She believes in God, so what?  So do a lot of people!  You can tell her it bothers you and she never mentions it again.  You can tell her you believe in God and she STILL never mentions it again.  I don't understand how her having a belief in something and mentioning it ONE TIME makes a lot of people act like she's a religious fanatic.

As for the alien thing...it's new for humanity.  A lot of people are not going to trust aliens.  That's smart.  She works side by side with the Salarians if you let her and volunteers even though they tell her she will most likely die.  She's willing to die with aliens to protect others.  How does that make her a raging xenophobe?  I mean, hell, I don't like Ashley that much, but it has nothing to do with her alledged xenophobia or belief in God!

As for the question, that's a horrible twist.  There should be nothing left of the body from the explosion for the Lazarus project to work and I don't see why anyone would want to spend billions of credits on them because they weren't really that spectacular in the larger scope of the ME universe.  Bad plot twist would be bad.

Seriously though I wouldn't be in favour of this, for one both characters end up telling you to go and help the other, so even if they die they have kind of accepted their fate, so I certainly wouldn't expect any antagonism.  I would also dislike them brought back as it would immensely cheapen the decision made in ME1.

If only the aftermath of a nuclear explosion includes gas clouds and copious amounts of dust being ejected into the atmosphere, electromagnetic radiation, thermal radiation, radioactive radiation, ionic radiation, seismic effects, an almost complete ecosystem overhaul, then the survival chances for someone who died in the explosion are rather slim, don't you think?

Well this would be a great idea if we had these in Mass Effect

But since we don't, I think we should just leave the one who didn't survive Virmire to rest in peace. If this were a fantasy rpg rather than sci fi I would argue that it were possible to have the spirit/wraith of the one who didn't survive haunt Shepard for a while, but since it isn't, let's just leave them out of this.

I can only see the Virmire casualty coming back in the form of some hologram (drawing from a Reaper) or some dream of Shepard - sort of a haunting thing.

Perhaps we're stuck in a Reaper and Shepard is starting to become indoctrinated. He starts seeing the Virmire casualty and form there everything starts getting scary.
