it's ridiculous...daggers look like short swords..how the hell did the size of these weapons make it past a beta stage??? I'd like a responce from BioWare on this and how they justify the ridiculousness of it....daggers have handles fatter then your wrist and are longer then your arm....yah ok
I love this game but the crazy size of weapons just ruins quite a bit of it..especially if you play a female or an elf char....christ the weapon is bigger then there body

How big do you think greatswords IRL are/were?
Daggers being short swords is..odd..but the larger swords are not unrealistic.

Not that I mind the daggers as big as they are but short sword would have been a better name, and Great swords are commonly 6-7 feet long, and some zwiehanders ( spelling ) are 7-9 foot long.
A normal sword is 3 -1/2 to 5, and short sword is 1 1/2-3 feet long.
my long bow, Ignore the mess, I know it looks trashy, we just finished redoing the house, its much cleaner now.

It just looks sort of silly at times because the only people who would ever use these weapons were strong, large men. A little woman wielding one thus looks silly, because it is. Unless you want stat differences by gender and whatnot though...

Lots of people seem to have no idea how absolutely huge weapons used to be. Longbows as tall as a man, greatswords even longer etc.

The De-zweihaender.ogg Zweihänder (help·info) (German for “two hander”, also called Bidenhänder or Bihänder), is a two-handed sword primarily of the Renaissance. The weapon is often called in the Western martial arts community as a Greatsword. It was created in Switzerland and was later used by German and Austrian troops too.
While implemented in Germany in the 14th century[citation needed], it gained renown during the 16th century as the hallmark weapon of the German Landsknechts from the time of Maximilian I. They were allegedly used by the front lines of the Landsknecht, where they would be used to hew through the opposing pikemen and spearmen whose spears presented a difficult barrier for normal weapons and cavalry.
Perhaps the best known user of a Zweihänder was Pier Gerlofs Donia who is reputed to have wielded it with such skill, strength, and efficiency that he managed to behead multiple people with it in a single blow. The Zweihänder ascribed to him is, as of 2008, on display in the Frisian museum. It has a length of 213 cm (84 in) and a weight of about 6.6 kg (14½ lb).[1]
The Zweihänder could be up to 180 cm (6 ft) long from the base of the pommel to the tip of the blade, with a 120–150 cm (4–5 ft) blade and 30–45 cm (1–1½ ft) hilt. The weight could range between 2 kg and 3.2 kg (4½–7 lb). However, a ceremonial Zweihänder, which was unsuitable for combat, could weigh up to 7 kg (16 lb).
Some were shorter, though. Earlier versions, in particular, often had an overall length of about 150 cm (5 ft), weighing as little as 1½ kg (3 lb 5 oz).

A dagger is a flippin' KNIFE. The kind you stick in your boot, or wear on your belt, not on your back.

some swords that where used in history are as tall as a man, but yes, daggers on here should really be called short swords, regular swords are more like long swords or bastard swords, and the great weapons are about right.

Or they could add gender specific weaponry. Instead of Ser Cauthrien having that greatsword, perhaps give her a broom...or a mop...or a feather duster!

anyway despite of a tendency to make things bigger than life some over-sized weapons are not completely fictional either indeed.
huge swords actually existed but they were mainly used for cavalry charges, more meant to cut opponents in half while riding than to really weild them like normal ones and as for axes: the really huge ones were only used for execution purposes so more like a man held guillotine.
but of course your average ogre in game could still use them nevertheless ... only it might actually be a dwarf you picked which even enlarges the big effect
