Nice! I'd certainly prefer more focus on our primary enemy--the Reapers. ME2 unfortunately failed to deliver in this regard: we were fighting mercs in like 75% of the game, with the Collectors showing up only in very specific instances.

Will we be fighting them more or less than we fought Mercs in ME2?

I'd like to fight the husks or whatever those ugly things are called a little bit more than Cerberus because of their diversity.

I can't remember quite off the top of my head... but I think Cerberus accounts for 40-ish percent?

/thread. ^_^

Not sure why anyone would think that we would be anyway, we've already seen Shep fighting Geth and Mercs were mentioned ages ago. Not to mention those pesky Reaperised mutant things.

Sounds like they will play an enormus part then.

Care to spill the beans on the last 60%? :kissing:

Cerberus has 150 OPERATIVES. Operatives are people like Jacob and Miranda, not just everyone in Cerberus.

I'd say I'm fine with that, so long as the remaining 60% is indeed Reapers-specific.

The thing is this is the final chapter; there's no other chance to "make up" and reveal what the last game did not or failed to do. With the Collectors in ME2, I let this slip as it was the middle chapter and all, but with ME3 I'm not exactly willing to see that again. Especially when the enemy is the Reapers themselves.

I am going to guess that Cerberus will be fought for around 1/2 of the game (probably comparative chronologically to when Horizon occured in ME2).  *Just saw the post by Brenon Holmes saying that Cerberus accounts for around 40% of the game.*

First, Cerberus seems to be the weakest link of having a unifying force against the Reapers.  Therefore I would expect that the Cerberus plotline will be dealt with before the final battles against the Reapers.  In some ways Cerberus could be considered the Sauraman to the Reaper's Sauron.  In order to have a unified front against the Reapers, Cerberus must be destroyed or changed.

Second, some players are supportive of Cerberus, while others are supportive of the Alliance.  With that said, I think players should get the choice of primarily working with either Cerberus or the Alliance during the final battles against the Reapers.  Cerberus being an enemy throughout the game would not be conducive to such a decision.

Third, the Reapers are the primary antagonists, not Cerberus.  Cerberus is merely an ancillary threat that must be addressed before the final battle against the Reapers.  In my opinion, concluding the Reaper and Cerberus plotlines satisfactorily requires that they be dealt with separately.

40% seems rather a lot. Surely there are more important things to be doing than fighting few criminals?

:pinched:Yes you're right about that. Fortunately with the amounts of mercs we killed (including several bosses from all major merc bands) there shouldn't be too many left to fight in ME3. Besides.. how many guys could Cerberus still have? :huh:

For debate's sake and debate only, doesn't that still make up a hefty percentage of the game fighting cerberus?
I mean, other than Cerberus we have Geth and Husks and Reapers, right? So, again, for argument's sake, let's cut the Reapers themselves and split the other two equality; we get 30% for Geth and another 30% for Husks, leaving Cerberus as the "heaviest" faction encountered.

Again, not even hating. Just making an observation =)

Can you tell us how many of types (number) of Cerberus enemies we will be fighting in ME3, Brenon?

I've seen:
Atlas
Elite (female)
Shocktrooper
Assault trooper
Guardian
Centaurian

Anymore than that?

Yeah, 40% would be more than the Collectors in ME2 I'd have thought.

There were sure lot of fighting against mercenaries in ME2 but my experience was that they were actually somehow more fun to fight than the Collectors.

Mercenaries, droids, Collectors, Husks, Abominations, Scions and sometimes a Praetorian, a few Klixens... I don't know, there are a lot of different kind of enemies, but somehow Collectors felt underwhelming, like seen one, seen all of them.

Cerberus have biotics in their ranks and mechs. Doesn't sound too bad actually. Of course I hope that fight against various kind of Husks is going to be good too.

Completely agree, good post. Although I think it'll take a litle longer than it generally takes to get to Horizon in ME2 (but the game will probably be structured differently anyway). Really hope it isn't just a case of destroying Cerberus regardless of your choices for instance, just seems a waste somehow.

Guardian= Vanguard (?) Maybe Sentinel
Combat Engineer= Engineer (lol)
Atlas= Big Mech
Nemesis= Biotics (?)
Phantom= The people with swords (?)
