40s%? Eh.. I would have more expected 20-30% (nearly one third), with strongly-Reaper-related enemies being 30-40% (over one third), with 30-50% being other sorts of enemies (mercs, beasts, other organizations, geth?, guards, non-Cerb mechs, krogan, etc etc).

Guess Cerberus is going to play more of a role than I thought. Not sure if I like that, at all.

Forty percent! That's...a good half of the game. What about the Reapers? You know, the sentient mythical warships, allegedly attacking the galaxy? Shepard fights them, right? Not the indoctrinated humans, not the reaperized organics - the Reapers themselves! He kills them, doesn't he! They're of different sizes, there are small ones, the blasted things are walking the Earth, he gets to destroy at least one personally, have revenge on those who are truly responsible for everything, right? RIGHT?

EDIT: This is depressing.

Fighting nothing but Cerberus agents still sounds better than fighting nothing but mercenaries in ME2.

Fighting 40% Cerberus says that the rest of the galaxy's races are still pretty unimportant. Yay.

I wonder. Are all the Bioware writers fully aware of the events that take place in the books?

Well, technically that is ALMOST half of the game. :D
I agree though, it is a lot. Must be close to the mercs in ME2. I'm quite curious to see the plot reason fir this and I hope it is a good one.
As for fighting the reapers personally, I guess Shep will destroy at least one himself (by sabotaging it with the help of his team of course) but ti stands to reason that the bulk of the reaper force must be dealt with in some other way and that we'll fight mostly enemies of our size (Cerberus, different husks, geth, wtc.). As long as there is a good reason for it (preferably not just everyone being indoctrinated, fullstop.) I am fine with Cerberus.

See, I'm just afraid that it'll just be Husks and Cerberus for the entire game.

40%(ish) of combat is spent fighting Cerberus agents?

I'm not really keen on that.
Especially when I'm still in the "doesn't want to fight Cerberus" boat.

I can't see the reason you are complaining. You don't know the plot yet, who says it will be a problem? I mean, you are trying to unite all of the races, not destroy them... and we still have a lot of time left for things to change...

40% sounds like WAAAY too much.

I preferred when Cerberus was the mysterious side group they were in ME1.

Course, they're important now, but I'd of rather it be some 25% or at the most 33%, not 40%. Jesus.

Actually, strangely enough, the working title for ME 3 is "Husks and Cerberus." And of course the vehicle stages all have thresher maws in flat, plain type areas.

I've seen plenty of pictures with husks from assorted races. I'm sure we won't be fighting Cerberus personnel all the time, heh.

40%(ish)! What about indoctrinated aliens?

Why do we always have to end up killing so many humans? How come Shepard always bumps into so many?

I thought the human race is still new to the galactic community and that other species outnumber us by trillions.

I've seen:
Atlas

Shocktrooper
Assault trooper
Guardian
Centaurian

Anymore than that?

Trooper
Centurion
Guardian
Combat Engineer
Atlas
Nemesis
Phantom

are the current working names for the faction.

It's subjective! Actually, it feels like we're going to be fighting Cerberus the entire game, instead of almost the half! Cerberus is in every video we watched, except for the one on the Earth, where the chances of escaping are so slim that I suppose Cerberus didn't feel it necessary to interfere.

I really don't want to kill humans. Plenty of humans died already, and much more are dying while Shepard gathers help. Killing Cerberus doesn't do anything for saving the Earth. It doesn't achieve anything but keep Shepard alive. Well, and it results in more dead humans.

Besides, I really, really don't want to fight Cerberus. :( And it makes me sad that Cerberus disagrees with that. It sucks when your allies turn on you.

I think this game is insufficiently dark yet. Just you wait, the Alliance is going to convict Shepard of treason and condemn him to death during the trial. Humans are going to extinguish the fire on Shepard's memorial while Admiral Hackett will watch in silent approval. My Shepard is going to have nightmares about human soldiers shooting at him as he gathers help for the Earth. And everything and everyone he tries to save is going to be DESTROYED before his very eyes.

Really, it's so dark that I'm wondering how they're planning to integrate humor into this. Right now it feels like my Shepard will never smile again.

Maybe we can guess at the percentages of the differing faction encounters from Brenon's "guess"

If Cerberus encounters are at 40%, 60% needs to be divided amongst Reapers (Husks, Cannibals, etc included), Mercs, Geth, and other warring species which we'll name as "misc"

Reaper armies is a major contender in the war so I guess 30%.
Mercs won't be as big as the Reapers and Cerberus because most of them would've been assimilated into the Reapers and Cerberus' army either through recruitment or indoctrination so maybe roughly 15% mercs would be fightable. For the last known faction, Geth, knowing that we either destroyed them or turned them into True Geth, their force crumbles down and may makeup 15% of the battles as well.

But there are many variables that can make up who we actually fight though. What if we anger species instead of persuade them to join our cause? We'll have to fight some of them to earn their trust possibly. What if the some of the Rachni and True Geth get indoctrinated? That'll shift the balance of power of the factions as well. There's so many variables that account for everyone's encounters. This must be one of the many repercussions that Bioware mentioned about our choices and actions from the previous games. Saving the Rachni, rewriting the Heretic Geth,
Saving or destroying the work for the genophage cure, Saving or destroying the Collector Base. Saving the Council or letting the council die, and all of that truly are events that we can't glimpse at and dismiss so easily. We'll be making our own war with our previous actions.. We'll be making our own enemies to fight.. It's all because of us we fight certain amounts of certain species and factions.

Operatives are those in charge, how many were under Jacob and Miranda's command during project lazurus?  Not each one of those shock troopers are operatives.  The operative in charge of the shock troopers, to take a guess:  Kai Leng.  That is 1 operative out of 150!!!Image IPB

Nope.

Trooper - Standard Soldier
Centurion - Elite Soldier
Guardian - Shield Soldiers
Combat Engineer - Tech
Atlas - Mech
Nemesis - Biotics
Phantom - Blade-wielder

This was just a corrected version of the Cerberus enemies.:D

40% seems fair. Fighting Cerberus will more interesting than fighting varieties of husk all game. Although that's 60% of the game to be fighting the Reapers and their minions, so I guess there'll be a fair few husks in that lot. And possibly Geth.
