So can you only make Kaidan "renegade" if you're fully romancing him?  Cuz I was romancing both him and Liara but I chose Liara and then the next conversation I had with him was in regards to that turian ahole Vyrnnus and I didn't get the Charm/Renegade options you should get.

Is it because I chose Liara and not Kaidan?

Or is there still a way to renegade Kaidan AND persue a Liara romance all the way? 

I'm interested in seeing if a renegade Kaidan will act and speak differently in Mass Effect 3.  If i do romance and make Kaidan renegade I'm thinking on "cheating" on him with Thane in ME2 since Jacob is just Jacob and Garrus is just not that interesting in that way to me...

Yep, same as Ashley. You can only make Ashley paragon and Kaidan renegade if you are romaning them.

K thanks. And that convo about Vyrnnus I guess only occurs after you've made a decision about which one you're "really interested in" huh?

That sucks...I was interested in pursuing a FemShep romance with Liara.
