I'm curious, how do you guys make the little pound symbol? Is it on your keyboards? Or is there some way to insert special symbols?

Its on british keybords if you don't have it you can hold down ALT and type 0163 on the number pad

This is a joke, the difference in price for what you get is unbelievable. This is another case of a company trying to take as much as they can out of the core fans of a franchise.

It's more likely to be the company selling the game rather than EA or Bioware. Especially when you consider that the PC version of the CE was £10 cheaper when it originally and went up within a day.

food and land is, but not everything.

It does seem like EA is tryign to charge the world for this game however, even with VAT and costs of shipping the price in the UK (and also places like Austrailia, and seemingly everywhere that isnt the US and Cananda) seems to be way to high.  I was dead set on getting the CE but I may have to get the normal version because I can't afford it

And why would this apply only to the CE of ME3 and not the standard edition, not games in general and not special editions of other games?

Because the company that owns GAME has a monopoly on the CE for the UK so they have no compitition for the CE. Standard Editions and CE for other games are sold by other retailers which means that they have to be competitive with pricing otherwise they lose out of market share for that product.

While this is true, I still wouldn't take all the blame off EA. They are selling the digital CE for £54.99 which is very pricey considering it misses out on all the physical objects.

True but the I find that all digital editions of games to be expensive as they are generally the same price as a retail version.

I concur with other people's statements: Do what us Australians have to do to afford games. Buy it from the states, because with shipping it will still be cheaper.

Eventually if enough people do it, there will be downward pressure on the distributor/publisher - who won't be stupid enough in future to enter into agreements that license the CE to just one retailer in some regions.

Question is: Given the beer here in Australia, is that a good thing? :)
BTW this is the way I get my games usually: Order from the US/UK, wait a couple of days longer (give your ethernet cable/wifi router to a friend for save keeping in the time between release and delivery) and save a whole lot of money.

Aussie beer is fine, as long as you avoid anything from CUB, Tooheys, or Castlemaine XXXX. I'm partial to James Squire Pilsner or Boags Premium.

Haha - so you're saying it's good as long as you avoid over 90% of the domestic beer market. Both Squires and Boags are owned by Lion-Nathan (Tooheys, XXXX) anyway, although the Boags is a good drop.

The Coopers and Little Creatures are the only local beers I know of that are in most shops, but not either Fosters or Lion-Nathan owned.

Petrol (thats 'gas' to you Americans) certainly is! :?

I'll buy the CE edition there's no doubting that, but as some have already said on here, the explination was not particularly edifying.

Its ok if it costs more due to our region, but the difference between pricing of the SE and CE should be proportional surely?

Is the CE exclusive to only one retailer group in the US?, if not then surely competition would see US customers paying a lower price whereas UK customers have only one group outlet (GAME, Gamestation, etc) with no competition from other retailers, hence the extortionate price.

It is relatively expensive, but not too bad when you look at it on its own considering how much entertainment will be got from it - many months (a few years) and many playthroughs.
If it was over £100, then I would be really :o!

[I am in no way defending the price, just saying it is acceptable]

GAME may set the price but EA is just as responsible for allowing the monopoly.

VAT, maybe? It will probably be 100 euros in Ireland. If that's the case then I'll give it a miss. I'll pay 50 euro for the standard edition.

Import from the UK or Denmark. Unfortunatley, I think they are the only 2 countried that ship it in EU. >_<

Bioware is based in canada. This is obviously an act of rebellion against British colonialism.

Precisely.

EA, or more specifically Bioware (as apparently each major EA company has a separate marketing department and sets it's own prices) have chosen to allow GAME to have a monopoly, and have apparently not objected to this price, so ultimately, it's down to them.

However, I tend to think it might be an attempt to convert people to using Origin. The Origin UK price for Digital Deluxe, which contains the digital equivalents of the various actual objects in the Collectors Edition (not as good, I know...) is £54.99, which is precisely what the Collector's Edition *should* cost if you were simply converting from dollars to pounds, and factoring in VAT.

I know that I'm not going to pay £15 for a few bits of physical tat, much as I might like a tin with FemShep on it.

So is this just a matter of giving GAME enough rope to hang themselves? Most UK ME fans are likely to go with the Digital Deluxe, I reckon. Which leaves GAME holding the - rather overpriced - bag. Either they'll wise up and lower prices (£60 would be with the acceptable range), or they won't, and will lose sales to Origin.

Either way, EA/Bioware wins.
